Dervis Bath Accessories & Ethnic…

Dervis Bath Accessories & Ethnic Textiles

Their cotton products are of such exceptional quality that a personal anecdote is appropriate. Some 20+ years ago when I first visited Istanbul, a Turkish friend took me to their then stall in the Grand Bazaar. (Note: Dervis no longer has a store in the Grand Bazaar). I liked what I saw & bought four large towels; two for me and two for a close friend who is very particular about her towels. To this date we remain friends & we both use these same towels daily, each alternating between the two each of us owns. The quality IS exceptional. They are washed at least once a week & used at home daily. I was so impressed by their bath towels (so large they could also serve as beach or pool towels) that I made a point on this trip to Istanbul to search the internet for a place where I can find bath towels made by Dervis hoping that the new ones will setve me for the next 20 years. I learned from other shops at the Grand Bazaar that Dervis is no longer in the Bazaar. However, a shop owner at the Grand Bazaar called the number for Dervis on Google maps & found Dervis’ sales point in Istanbul. Fortunately, it is easily accessible using Tram 1. From my hotel near the Blue Mosque it took just 15 minutes to reach the Tram stop Tophane. I then walked uphill 5 minutes to #57 & rang the bell walking up one story inside what appears to be a normal residential apartment building. When the door opened, I knew I found myself inside a wonderland of Turkish cotton bath & bed products. It is so easy to reach & easier to find than inside the massive Grsnd Bazaar. Their new point of sale is easy to reach. Their massive bath towel in all types of colos & designs are app. $32 each. A product of this quality in the U.S. I would equate to an Italian Pratesi or Frette which run in the hundreds each & I doubt those brands will survive the 20+ years of daily use. Once you buy them they eill be placed inside a vacuum sealed plastic bag to make them easy to pack in a suitcase. The plastic bag is them wrapped in a beautifully printed cloth; so elegant and unexpected. If you go, please let me know if my review helped in your decision to visit Dervis Bath Products & accessories. l appreciate when reviewers share a good product story & enjoy sharing my own finds with everyone. If you are in Istanbul & want the best Turkush cotton products go to Dervis.
