What a terrible company

What a terrible company. You need to take the work art out of your name. Since you started to embrace AI art, you're lost the respect of most of the users.

DeviantArt is no longer a good program…

DeviantArt is no longer a good program for artists to share their creativity. Their policies allow pedophilia and gore content but yet they ban anyone who labels their artwork carefully for older audiences and can't tell the difference between Photoshop and fiction. The app is filled with double standards and the website is no longer a positive environment. Either change the name of the app or shut the whole thing down.

Not an art website

Despite the name, Deviantart is not an art website. It's a pic-dump flooded with images stolen from other websites, AI generated pictures, spam, fetish content and even child pornography. The images you see as a visitor are hand picked and do not represent the content shown to you once you sign up and log in. There is no system in place to battle any illegal content, with just a hand full of staff members relying entirely on the users to report illegal content, while reporting illegal content is made as difficult as possible and in many cases is only possible if one's own copyrights are being violated. To make things worse, there are close to no consequences for people who violate DA's own rules as reports/complaints are ignored on a regular basis.
Apart from that, every gallery on the website is AI controlled, meaning users have little to no control over the images they are shown by the system. DeviantArt's own AI image generator called "Dreamup", which is being advertized as an "ethical" AI, was trained with literally millions of pieces of art used without consent of the artists, which is why "DA" has been sued by a group of artists.

Not a serious business. Account lost after 15 years, money stolen.

My profile got deactivated, without previous warning, for "copyright infringment", while i doubt gifs, memes and re-works in general can be called that. There are hundreds of accounts with pretty much the same content, some even re-post straightforward copyrighted images from Disney and such, and i never did that. What's worse is that i had a Core membership active, i paid for it and now i lost my money too. Please also note i wasn't even selling my art as many others do, so there was no profit. I just had a regular, fairly popular account that got deleted for whatever reason. And i suspect this has more to do with some "moderators" striking accounts they don't like or cutting you down in order to boost other "friendly" pages. All in all it doesn't seem to be a serious site, deleting years of work and the space i paid to store it all, in a drop of the hat. Not how you treat customers, whatever your reasons may be, at least they should send a warning if they have a problem with your content. What they did instead is STEALING (my space, my art and my membership money).

PS. Who are these moderators anyway? In a serious business, operators must be held accountable and easy to identify for both the customer and the employer. I don't like this sort of "divine power" where someone can erase your account anonimously and without further explaination. Great site for art with top notch tools to customize your space, too bad the business department is amateurish at best (also their subscription page has the usual trap system to make you choose more expensive options).

Worst customer service I have ever encountered

DeviantArt has, hands down, the worst customer service I have ever encountered of any company on the Web. And that is not an exaggeration. If you submit a ticket you will be VERY VERY lucky if they ever respond. If they do respond, it will most likely be weeks, or even months later. Of six tickets I have submitted over the past 4 years, I have gotten three responses. Two of those responses came over three weeks after they were submitted. One came two months later! It's a completely despicable insult to DeviantArt's dedicated user base to even claim that they offer "customer service", and frankly, I'm not sure how much longer Wix (which now owns DeviantArt) can sustain such a large community without artists/users leaving in droves for one of the many competitors emerging every month. I am so angry about it I am on the verge of closing my account, and I've been an artist/designer on the site for almost a decade, with over 5,000 followers on DeviantArt. It's a disaster. I've been trying to get a simple problem fixed with DA's incorrect stats on my subscriber base – a bug that is depriving me of money every week – but after 3 years of trying to get them to fix it... zero. I'm fed up.

Dubious site

I have had it with this site. I see stuff published which is really dubious and I got banned for three times now while I have payments received from subscriptons from customers. I was banned for a drawing where the person was fully clothed. I have no way to refund this to my customers. It is disrespectful to my customers who paid money for this. They just ban you when you have succesful content. Really a disappintment, dont go there if you are serious in setting up a clientele.

Tried, tested and concluded; the site to be no longer for artists

I have been on this platform for over 12 years now. The community and interactions were good. I am not going to repeat what others are talking about. Only thing I am going to say, dA changes their policy often regarding adult material on the fly, take no action against spammers and scammers, heavily invested in using AI/nft through user submitted content and now trying to monetise the site with every bad decision possible. They do put up social defences, even though they are NOT liable to follow through those promises.

And as an artist, me and other small time ones barely receive any interactions if we don't have AI or fan artworks or nudity or general fetish tagged in our works. I am not sure why this is the case, but observing this for over four/five months, I came to conclusion, that the algorithm may be broken. As a core member, I find this to be simply unacceptable. On top of this, now there are reports of tr0lls making throwaway accounts and harassing people through dms.

I guess dA has came a long way... We will have to see where it goes from here.

Totally understandable as to why ratings are so low about this website

I have been emailing Deviant Art on their help email address and their account recovery email address for months now. I'm still await a response..

I'm hoping in that time that the customer support team have been trained to fully, especially with account recovery, as I do not see deviant art being a web host to artists much longer, given how poor the reviews had been consistantly for years now. Deviant Art's existence depends heavily on having genuine artists using their website in a satisfied manner. This should be the priority.

Would also be very useful to provide a ticket number to such email enquiries.

Do not send them a photo of your ID - this is rectless for them to even ask of a website user and even though they would be held liable for what happens to it, it's never something to be asked for via email especially by people one has never met.

Moderation team without respect and decency

A week ago, I joined DeviantArt and created an account. As an SEO specialist with over 15 years of experience, I chose the username "seospecialist" for my account. I also uploaded some pictures that I had created for websites. However, after a few days, I received an email from DeviantArt informing me that my account had been suspended. The administrator's comment simply said "spammer." I'm genuinely confused about why they took this action against me, and I find their decision disrespectful and lacking in decency. It's important for them to learn to respect their users and make better decisions regarding their accounts. I feel like they are not treating me as a human being. It's not my fault that they have a lot of spammers on their website, but it becomes my problem when they treat me poorly.

After many years of being member at dA

After many years of being member at dA, I've quit more than 4 years ago for good after one disaster layout after another. Not to mention, the owner and the other admins doesn't give a crap about anything and on top of that, they're outright enabling cyberbullying and allowing grotesque pornography and way too many ppl should had been banned forever. Also let's not even mention ai, something that many artists and designers were against it from day one.

But really though, Deviantart should have had their website completely shut down for a long time ago. Ut no longer has purpose. Most serious artists has left this website for years.

A lot of bad things and a lot of good things

Deviantart is a nice site, nice look, nice customization, nice UI. There are a lot of nice artists on deviantart and it's a pretty easy place to begin your art career. Core is really expensive though. But there is a lot of disgusting fetishes on deviantart, and there's a lot of pornographic content on it too. It has really big advantages, like how easy it is to start and account on deviantart and get watchers, but it has very big disadvantages too, like the amount of pornographic content there.

I think deviantart shouldn't allow pornographic content on its site but its actually encouraged it, with the release of their ''private collections'' feature. It's quite a disgusting place and a cesspit for fetishes. But....If you stay away from all of that and set your settings to standard or safe mode, deviantart becomes a pretty nice place. So my advice is that if you start an account on deviantart, stay away from the cesspit of fetishes and pornographic material on the website and do not associate yourself with those things. Deviantart is a nice place if you aren't associated with those stuff and there are a lot of nice art works on deviantart. You should definitely check it out but just be cautious. Keep your settings on standard or safe, never on mature.

Gone from Bad to Worse

Since my review in 2021, things have gotten worse for DeviantART. From NFTs and AI "Art" to users that are blatantly grooming minors in the open via "Slice-Of-Life" Diaper Fetish RPs, Request Spammers and Art Trade Scammers, the site has become motivated by greed now.

Protection from NFTs? Only if you have Core Membership permanently

AI "Art"? Turn a blind eye to the possibility of AI generated Child Porn

Grooming Minors out in the open? Excuses as varied as "I HAVE AUTISM", "I'M TEACHING KIDS HOW TO CARE FOR A DISABLED PERSON" and "RPS ARE EDUCATIONAL". Even if it's a Fetish RP, the same excuses are always used to excuse the fact certain users *CoughClubCough* are using their RPs to groom minors (This is coming from someone who is autistic, and who never used her autism as an excuse)

Request Spammers? I encountered one last August, and they spammed another user's Journal with requests by using Sockpuppet accounts

Art Trade Scammers? As long as money isn't used, then it's fine. Same person as the Request Spammer

Another thing: Unless you have Core, the new features the site implements are only for the benefit of the 1% of users. Watchers Only Galleries, Premium Galleries, Llama Farms, Adopt Sales and Profile decorations are Core Only features, and at least half with the Pro are AI "artists" who charge $2000 per Premium Gallery for generated "art", and $5000 for a Premium Gallery consisting of AI generated "literature".

I was a user on DA for five years it…

I was a user on DA for five years it was on this site that I first started writing fan fiction which gave me the confidence to write my own works I feel what killed this site wasn't just the fact that the owners became greedy but also they allowed trolls to attack other users in January of this year my account was closed down due to trolls currently beside focusing on building my following up with my writing I am also looking for another site like DA. This site is infested with trolls the admins are useless and will do nothing
