Beautiful doors…

This is the second time I've used Direct Doors. The doors are absolutely beautiful, the pictures online simply don't do them justice. Excellent service and extremely quick delivery.
I would definitely recommend using Direct Doors

Delighted

A very simple and straightforward process to purchase a front door. Good communication from the company and delivery when promised. A very competitive price for a good quality door. I can’t fault them.

Excellent service

We ordered 2 firedoor sets from Direct Doors. They have very friendly customer service and small changes to our order were smoothly updated. Doors arrived the exact date and time that was promised, and they were easy to install and are absolutely beautiful!

Thank you for excellent service!

Great service with good prices

Great service with good prices, even after making a mistake when ordering, a quick call was handled without fuss and the correct product delivered. Good to deal with a company that knows how to treat customers properly.

Awful experience

Awful experience, the worst aftersales I have ever had. The doors we purchased were c.£3k which was a luxury purchase for our kitchen. The quality was not what we expected and the whole experience was a let down.

This company have set their T&C's to fit them not the customer, if you read other reviews you will see how dismissive and defensive they are citing their T&C's...not a customer friendly business.

Don't use them.

Hello,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

You will know, it was myself who dealt with the concerns you raised back in December.

As per our email conversation at the end of last year, you ordered a bespoke double pocket cassette with doors which we made to the dimensions you inputted on the website. It is clearly stated on the website that the dimensions we require is the overall wall width and height and the doors are then made to suit this system.

If there is anything further you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Great doors - unclear instructions

Very happy with the doors; really excellent value for money and a nice product. Delivery was when expected and the delivery guys were friendly and efficient; calling to let me know they were on their way.
Installation should have been very straightforward, but instructions were unclear.
Specifically: I ordered a set of double glass doors. This comprises two panels, two sets of rails & hanging brackets, two pairs of soft closers and a connecting piece.
The instructions supplied were for each of these bits of hardware separately, rather than one step-by-step document.
The basic product (rails & brackets) comes with end stops (close end and open end). The soft closers fit inside the rail. I now understand that the soft closers are intended to replace the end stops altogether, and indeed if you're fitting two rails in a double configuration, you can't physically put the end stops where they would need to go due to the positioning of the brackets.
When I emailed to check that the end stops were in fact redundant, the reply I got told me that I'd taken a photo of the end stops, which go at either end of the rail, and attached the same instructions I'd already read. In fact neither open- nor close-end stops can be fitted with double doors and soft-closers. They're not unsubstantial bits of steel and it's a great shame to put them in the bin. One of the reasons I didn't twig sooner is that you don't expect to be sent bits that you can't use; it's not as if these boxes are straight from factory because one pair contained the handles; it would be very easy to remove the redundant stops.
The other small niggle is that there were significant burrs on the holes that accept the grub screws to adjust the height of the doors; these needed to be filed down to allow the doors to be hung at minimum height.
Once installed, I'm very happy with these and will likely order another pair for a different room. However, DirectDoors should:
1. remove components that are redundant from the package to avoid confusion (and presumably save themselves money!);
2. Create a decent set of step-by-step instructions so that when they sell a combination of products as a pair of double-doors, there's no trial-and-error in installation; and
3. not assume their customers are incompetent, and make sure that any member of staff offering technical help is equipped with the knowledge to provide it.

Poor service due to inacurate information advertised on website

I want to share my experience with Direct Doors, regarding a recent order, and provide an honest review of the process.

Initially, the ordering process seemed promising, the website is exceptional and I enjoyed the intuative nature of the site. I specificaly and very deliberatly filtered on delivery duration availability and anticipated a timely delivery for my ongoing project. Unfortunately, the excitement turned into disappointment when I learned about unforeseen stock availability issues. While I appreciate the effort to communicate promptly, the lack of prior notification about stock status during the ordering process was inaccurate and has caused significant interuption in the sequencing of the works and a delay on handover of the project.

The subsequent correspondence highlighted the challenges faced by Direct Doors in managing stock, and I understand these issues may be beyond their control. However, clear communication during the ordering phase is crucial for customers to make informed decisions, an aspect that was lacking in my experience.

The delay in delivery has resulted in additional complications for my project, and the financial impact extends beyond the initial cost of the doors. Moreover, upon receiving (part 1 - door frame), I noticed defects with the priming in the internal beading, the priming was almost non existatant, clearly not what was advertised and fell way short of my expectation.

In my recent communication with Direct Doors, I emphasized the urgency of my situation, I ordered the doors on Monday 29th Jan 24 in the 4-5 working days delivery filter and to date 12th Feb 24 but unfortunately I still do not have a confirmed delivery date.

I believe, given the financial losses incurred due to the delays and poor quality finishes on the door frames, that some form of compensation should be considered. I understand the complexities involved in supply chain management, but as a consumer, the overall experience has been poor. The lack of accurate information during the ordering process, delays, and quality issues have added unexpected layers of inconvenience and cost.

I appreciate Direct Doors' commitment to prioritizing my delivery once the doors are restocked, but improvements are needed to prevent similar issues in the future. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback, and I look forward to a resolution that ensures a positive outcome for both parties.

Hello,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

I can only apologise for the delays to your order due to the doors being out of stock. Normally, goods which are out of stock would be shown with a pre-order date on our website. However, it was not until you called last week about delivery that the manufacturer let us know the doors would not be available.

Unfortunately, restocking dates is something completely out of our control and as the goods are shipped in from overseas it is difficult to get the goods any quicker than the estimated lead times we advise.
I do understand your frustration and I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Upon looking into this further, I can see you have been discussing with my colleague and have now changed to alternative doors and have now booked a suitable delivery date with the courier / manufacturer.

With regards to the frame, I understand that this is still in discussion with my colleague, and we are awaiting further images. However, this is a primed product which has been sprayed white therefore, it will need to be sanded and painted once on site.

I will arrange £50.00 to be refunded back onto your card as a goodwill gesture.

Once again, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused and as soon as I have the images of the frame, I can investigate this further.

Should there be anything further I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Cheap door company

Worse experience of a door company.

Hello,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As you will know, it was myself who originally dealt with the concerns raised therefore, I thought it best that I responded.

It was brought to my attention yesterday that the doors you had were damaged, however, the doors had been with you for a few weeks before we were notified of such issues. It is clearly stated on our website that all goods must be checked upon or within 24 hours of delivery and any issues reported to us immediately. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any claims for any issues after this time.

Should there be anything further I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I purchased a £1000 ‘Exterior Oak…

I purchased a £1000 ‘Exterior Oak Cottage Door’ and installed it on 19.01.24. Two days later after some light rain, the door is now ruined. Water has got behind the veneer and now the door is delaminating. I correctly applied 3 coats of ‘Osmo Exterior UV Protection’ before installation in line with the instructions that were attached to the door. Extract from Osmo website ‘this has been used for many decades on exterior veneered surfaces without problems’.
Direct doors response - This product is an unsuitable to be used to treat our external veneered doors and should only be used on internal doors. We are unable to offer a replacement.
I have installed oak veneer doors and used Osmo exterior uv protection oil to protect them for 20+ years and not once had a single issue. Especially after 2 days!
The door has a manufacturing defect that has allowed water ingress and direct doors are unwilling to honour their ‘12 month warranty’.
Do not risk buying from this company as their warranty clearly stands for nothing.
I am more than happy to update this review as the matter is dealt with by higher management to ensure a fair review. Until then, avoid at all costs and go directly to a manufacturer instead.

Hello,
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
The door you have ordered is an unfinished Oak Veneer door therefore, it is essential that the finishing guidelines are adhered to at all times to ensure the door is fully protected.
It is clearly stated in the finishing guidelines supplied by the manufacturer that to not uses varnishes, waxes, polishes, dyes and oils therefore, Osmo Oil is not appropriate for this particular product. I understand that Osmo Oil does provide a product for external goods but this door is not suitable as the finish does not provide the relevant protection.
If there is anything further, I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Misleading

Chose an internal door. Rang twice to ensure that I could return if it wasn't right. I purchased it from the regular 'internal door' section of website, and not the 'bespoke' section, but then they say I can't return it as it's bespoke. They then say, the door itself isn't bespoke, the railing (sliding door) is bespoke. But there was no option of buying the railing and the door separately, and the whole lot came from their regular internal door section. Further, to return, the door has too be completely unopened, they charge a fee if they come to inspect a possible return (whether they take it or not) and you only get a % of the cost back. Just be upfront about it Direct Doors - you say anything for a sale even if it's a complete fabrication.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. I have gone through this in bullet point form below.
• Firstly, we are not privy to any phone calls in this office however, all our staff are very well trained and all are aware that any sliding system is classed as a bespoke item and under normal circumstances we would not accept the goods back for a return.
• The track as is cut to size upon receipt of order which is why the order is classed as bespoke. It is clearly stated on the website that this is a bespoke order and you have to confirm you are happy to proceed by ticking the box prior to check out. The website will not allow you to proceed any further without doing this.
• As stated in your email 06.11, you stated you wanted to return the door and handles only and keep the track. As a goodwill gesture, I agreed to accept a return of the door only as it remained untouched in the original packaging however, as explained this would be subject to an uplift charge.

Should there be anything further I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.
