At Preveza Airport they found a tiny mark that was already there from the start (we had the photos).
They threatened us to make us lose our fly and made us pay 200€ for the repair costs.
The vehicle was already damaged from the start, I am sure they will keep the money in their pockets.

Worst rental car experience

It’s a company that rents cars to go around the city. You are not allowed to go to the most famous and beautiful beaches (as they are offroad). Although in the contract it’s written that you are not allowed to go offroad, nobody specifically mentioned where not to go - the penalty for this is an extra 300€. If you do decide to rent from them, make sure you check if the beaches you want to visit are not offroad-for example we didn’t know that to go to Balos you have to drive a 6km offroad portion.
We rented a small car only for two persons and we didn’t expect something wow but the car they gave us was a very rusty one which screeched from all joints. We really didn’t feel safe and, although we kept driving at a low speed, the car was shaking anytime we pressed the break pedal.

I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this company. I rented a van from Dirent in May of 2024 — it was easily the worst rental vehicle I’ve ever experienced. Almost every panel on the vehicle was damaged, the key was broken, the locking system didn’t work, it stunk of cigarette smoke. Their response when I asked for a new vehicle was aggressively defensive and unprofessional.

I will give one star because I can’t select 0. The cars are very expensive compared to the quality of the car you’ll get. I got a Fiat grande punto that only god knows how it managed to run more than 1000km in 10 days. Scary noises, no water for the shield, no adaptor for the phone, the booster for the child I was given was all dirty that even a young kid would refuse to sit there. (Paid 40 euro extra, I mean ridiculous). I also got charged 50 euro extra because one of the cover of the wheels got lost but the rest of them were all broken and they were miraculously chained to the wheels. For sure they don’t fix them properly to the wheels so they can steal you some more money. Do not go with this company just because it is a little cheaper than the rest. Stay away from them

- Wasted 3 hours, gave us faulty car with check engine light, refused to offer replacement.
- Could not give us valid proof that the check engine light was a ‘minor issue’
- Story kept changing on whether or not they had a replacement car
- ⁠Intimidated us to take a manual instead (no discount offered either)
- ⁠Dismissed our concerns for safety completely and kept pressuring us to accept the car
- Was very unprofessional and called us ‘crazy’

I’m going to start this by saying I am totally not a moaner….but……I would rather hire a donkey for the week than use these again. Preveza airport, Greece. Avoid at all costs. Waited nearly 2 hours to collect car after walking from airport over 2 roads. One person in office and 1 trying to find cars to give people. Nothing was ready and no organisation, gave us paperwork which showed incorrect mileage and petrol was half full but they scrawled a mark on the FULL line. (This was my mistake as I should have taken a photo but you assume your using a reputable company) ,warning lights galore on car and you guessed it when we returned I had filled the car to where it was when we got it but they were going by the scrawl they wrote. Words exchanged they threaten to call police etc etc. When we got home they had taken the full £85 deposit which they leave pending. Total rip off, rude people ,which is so unlike the Greeks normally. Do not go anywhere near this. There are nearer ones to the airport anyway. This is a honest review, we have a beautiful time in Lefkada and would highly recommend the island but stay far away from this particular office for DiRent and if they offer this level of service in their other branches then steer clear of the whole company, we will be.

DiRenta a car - Zakynthos Airport.
I have rented in a few European countries (Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria) and, generally, the pick up is the most stressful part of the holiday. Will the car be roadworthy? Will there be a hard sell?
Here, I can only comment on my experience of DiRent a car at Zante Airport but the service received was quite exceptional.
Our meet and greet was at the airport waiting for us, was very nice and helped with our luggage. At the office, Nikolas was superb. Happy, friendly and very professional and he dealt with the pick up very quickly.
I was gobsmacked that there was not a single issue, problem or pain. The car was in superb condition, there was also no push for added insurance and no added costs.
An honest 5 Star recommendation.

They tried to charge me for services I didn't request and to make me sign documents that I don't understand because in foreign language, ultimately the person on charge made me clear that this was a SCAM. A shame that could not be possible in a civilized country like Romania is, I hope some authority does something against this company.

Good communication through WhatsApp car was clean low mileage, any scratches were noted , the return date was also smooth didn’t take more than 5 minutes, I am very happy with service I will use them again thanks to everyone there Nourdine , Hanine, thanks very much.

Biggest scammers ever. Before I made a reservation I saw al the bad reactions on this website. The most of the car rental company’s had bad reservation and always when I booked the company’s with bad recensions there was no problem. But by this company al the bad comments are true. I order a Volkswagen Golf, i got a Renault scenic that is older then 15 years. There were scratches every were. After one day I lost a hubcap. That hubcap was full of scratches. After one week I give the car back and I told them that I lost the hubcap. They let me pay 40 euros. Because they want 4 hubcaps. After that they want me to pay 350 euro for scratchers. The scratchers were already on the car before I rent the car. After a discussion of one hour (they want me to miss the plane because of the time and want me to pay) I keep showing for one hour the photos en show them that the scratchers were already there but they don’t want to see it because they want to make money because of a scam. They told me ‘I don’t give a fck, we will take it from your bank account and now fck off*. They were with 3 big guys to scared me. Please take this recensions seriously and choose another car rental!

Wanted a 5 seater with 5 doors and reasonable luggage space. Got a vw caddy van. Commercial small van with only one rear door. Inadequate air conditioning for passengers. Old model with no modern features. Office staff useless. Unable to use credit card machine and charged me twice. Slow pick up. Not cheap either.

This was my best car hire experience ever. The cars may not be the latest models but the friendliness of staff and overall customer experience completely make up for this. Friendly meet and greet, we received a whatsapp (message as soon as the plane landed), no hassle, no one trying to sell more insurance, just a really friendly and helpful team, great communications via whatsapp throughout (even when I needed to extend the booking), lots of tips about things to visit. Thanks everyone at Dirent, you are amazing and helped me relax into my holidays from the first minute I set foot in Kefalonia.

To echo the last two other people who hired a car from Preveza - do not hire from these people! The car was fine when we picked it up and was a decent car. They made a note of one scratch but apart from that the car looked quite new. However, when we dropped it off he found a tiny scratch, impossible to see, under the front spoiler and charged us €200. Knowing we had a flight to catch and were short of time, we had no choice but to pay it. We suspected this was a bit of a scam as we’ve hired many cars in Greece and this has never happened. Do not use these people.

We booked at Preveza through some sort of online broker and they didn’t seem to be able to find our booking. They found a car for us. The petrol was half full (good luck trying to return without losing out somehow on that). When we returned it they claimed we were the first people to use the car and tried to blame a scratch on us. We were nearly at the point of accepting when we found the photo of the offending scratch from when we picked up. (I wonder if we are the first people to be told the car is brand new ... or if that scratch is on the paperwork.) It took I think about 3 weeks to get our deposit back although in fairness it came without having to chase. I have hired many cars in my time and would not use them again. The whole thing felt very scammy.

Hired a car from Dirent in Crete, absolutely terrible. Similar to the below negative comments. Car was damaged with loads of scratches and no petrol. When we went over the car to inspect the attendant wasn’t bothered and said just take pictures. Upon return they charged us for scratches that weren’t ours, €400 worth apparently- was definitely not that much, that’s for sure. Total scammers.

No problem until we returned the car to Dirent @ Preveza where upon we were met by a very surly man who instantly took the car away to be washed insisting we stayed there. He proceeded to go directly to the rear of the car and point out a tiny 3mm diameter paint blemish on a flat surface just below the boot claiming we'd damaged it with luggage and insisted we paid for the damage. It didn't even look fresh and I'm sure we never caused it. He kept us for nearly an hour doing the paperwork leaving us just 30 minutes till our flight was due to leave and it cost us £131.00. Will never use this company again and will make sure non of my friends ever do either. I could tell from his attitude the minute we arrived that something dodgy was going down! You've been warned. Always take full insurance out to cover any excess as I did with a UK company beforehand, so not out of pocket but there is no excuse for this type of scam!

Scam Beware of direnta! They lure you with false promises on the phone and the offer on carjet, but it's a scam. Avoid renting from them to save yourself from the distressing experience.

when we found the car hire firm by Preveza airport after a short time i was allocated a car, on inspection checking for damage i noted a couple of scratches that i took photos of, the female assistant didn't seem impressed that i was inspecting the car !
when i checked the spare tyre it was flat and it was very evident that the tyre had been driven on flat as the side wall of the tyre was very badly damaged, i turned to the lady assistant who called a male assistant, he implied that it wasn't a problem !! i stated that i wasn't prepared to take the car with a damaged spare tyre/wheel, at this he suggested that he would get the tyre pumped up !! i reiterated and showed him the damaged tyre again, at this he said it was ok the rest of the tyres on the car were new !! and if we did have a flat all we had to do is call for breakdown to come and fix!!
at this i was now getting frustrated with and appalling attitude of the assistant pointing out the car was not fit for hire...i returned to the office to raise my aggravation with the person who booked the car out to me, he inspected and agreed it was not safe, at this he sourced another spare wheel that was brand new he replace the damaged tyre/wheel , conceding that the we shouldn't have got the the stage of arguing about the spare.
appalling service and attitude of some members of staff. and i will not use on any future trips to Greece.
the man who booked the car out to us fortunately was a lot more professional than the assistances.
( i would sack the two of them)
