Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the pricing, finding it to be outrageously expensive and a significant hike compared to previous services. Customers also frequently reported issues with their subscriptions, including confusing processes, unexpected cancellations, and the inability to access content they had paid for. The service itself was often criticized for its poor quality, with problems like buffering, programs not loading, and difficulty navigating the interface. Reviewers also expressed strong negative opinions about the marketing practices, particularly the excessive and repetitive advertisements, even for paying subscribers. The user experience was widely described as terrible due to constant interruptions from ads and a difficult-to-use interface. Some people were dissatisfied with the lack of an ad-free option, especially given the high subscription costs. A few other people also felt that the content, despite being plentiful, was overshadowed by the overwhelming number of advertisements.

A bully company who REALLY doesn't care…

A bully company who REALLY doesn't care about consumers or the communities that they want to support them. The price hike they set is RIDICULOUS and is doing such damage to the viewership of cycling. Cycling need people to watch it and not big bully companies like this to come in and, for money, chase everyone away. Sadly, because I cant afford the criminal price hike, I can no longer watch the sport I love and have supported and been a part of for over 30 years! Shame on you Discovery +!

Problem getting a refund?

This might help others with a similar problem about getting a refund.
I did not know about the package changes until March 1st when I tried to watch cycling and was told I now need to pay £30.99 per month.
Hang on though, I had recently paid for a year's subscription to my old package by auto-renewal!
On the 3rd February Discovery (via Google) took the annual subscription of £59.99 for a service that was ending 25 days days later.
It has taken me a month to get a refund.
To start with customer services said I needed to get the refund from Google.
They kept repeating this even though Google refused twice to give the refund.
I then emailed Discovery’s CEO, andrew.georgiou( symbol for at) warnerbros.com but he did not reply!

I then wrote to Discovery’s registered office.
Discovery Plus is the trading name of Dplay Entertainment Ltd at 566 Chiswick High Road, London W4 5YB.
In total I wrote 3 letters, the first two letters were ignored but the third letter sent (on 1st April) was a “Letter Before Claim”
I gave Discovery14 days to refund me or I was taking them to the small claims court.
The Citizens Advice Website tells you what to say in a “Letter before Claim”
I also said that I have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Also I have Consumer Protection against Unfair Terms.
That third letter did the trick and my refund (via Google) was forthcoming within 24 hours

an utter shambles

an utter shambles. A few months ago you had a choice wherever you wanted adds or not. Now you havent got a choice unlike Netflix Disney Plus Prime where you have a choice. We was watching something a few days ago and litterly every 5 minutes theirs an add break. This was an hour an half Program. Litterly awful streaming service.

Owned by "Warner Bros" - Chuckle Bros more like!

Owned by "Warner Bros" - clearly should be renamed the "Chuckle Bros". Just the worst platform ever built. Nothing works, and I mean nothing - it is almost impossible to find a particular program, the live TV shows 'unavailable' yet the program is streaming - IF you can find it. I watch Rugby, WRC, MotoGP ... spend longer trying to find the right program than actually watching it, the description does not tell you the dates of the matches - then all you get is an endless stream of adverts. Amazingly pathetic... the only reason I use it at all is that I get it free with an EE subscription from way back... Are the Warner Brothers Harry and Albert turning in their graves I wonder?

I have a basic subscription

I have a basic subscription, I’m not interested in sport. I have a 500Mbps fibre connection and a 3rd gen firestick. The app has been crashing for months, but was tolerable, until tonight. The app crashes at every advert break. The AI bot is useless and gives no meaningful support, the bot is not able to refer you to a customer support agent either. I have also noticed that programmes, like those with messages saying there are new episodes every Monday, are not being updated with the new content every week, and other content just random may stops being updated with new content mid series. I have just wasted an evening attempting to get Deadliest Catch to stream, it endlessly crashes. Just to be sure it was not a technical issue at my end I tried another streaming service, and had no issues. So as much as Discovery documentary’s are a guilty pleasure, I have to say goodbye and have cancelled my subscription, the service is just not fit for purpose.

Not value for money

Horrendous service. The signal is poor at best and I have 1.7gb FTTP internet and use Ethernet for connection and it still lags out or stutters. It's actually scandalous that it's called a service and you have to pay for the most basic of channels which are all just repeats of the same garbage from the last 10 years. Zero original or new programming. The enforced change to subscriptions is also just pure greed as usual so I have cancelled everything. I would rate it zero if I could but that's not an option. I only watched Eurosport but now that's bundled in with a premium sports package of which the selection is really poor at best and is no where close to being value for money. Again simply just greed.

Adverts literally every 5 minutes!

The barrage of adverts every 5 minutes now since the forced subscription change is an absolute piss take. I don't mind an advert, evenly spaced, but this is ridiculous!
Literally every 5 minutes, I've timed it. Not just 1 ad 4 or 5 at a time!

Extremely Disappointed and Angry

I've had a Discovery+ subscription for years, paying £6.99 per month for no adverts. All of a sudden my payment drops to £3.99 and I have adverts. I contact Discovery+ on chat, to be told I would now have to pay £30.99 per month because of TNT Sports, but there will be adverts on Live TV. I don't watch sport, and say the subscription is too expensive, so they offer me half price for 7 months. I DON'T WATCH SPORT! Such a foolish idea to impose this decision on loyal customers. I'll pay the £3.99 and mute the adds, and when I've finished what I'm watching, I'll cancel my subscription. Shame on Discovery+

Too Many Ads Ruin the Experience

I subscribed to Discovery+ expecting a great lineup of shows, but the number of ads is ridiculous. Even with a paid subscription, I feel like I’m constantly being interrupted. The ad breaks are frequent, repetitive, and way too long, making it frustrating to watch anything. For a service that charges a fee, the ad experience feels worse than regular cable TV. If you’re considering signing up, be prepared to spend almost as much time watching ads as actual content. Definitely not worth it!

Ripoff! Goodbye!

Seems I am one of many here, not happy with the changes made by Doscovery Plus. Have been paying £6.99 to watch cycling and some endurance car racing, only to find out that, to watch those going forward, I need for fork out £30.99!!!

I’m not sure if I should cry or laugh, but Discovery Plus: you are delusional if you think I’ll pay what you ask. I will be cancelling that pathetic basic plan you have put me on.

End of an era

Last year I was paying £4.99 p/m for EuroSport player. All live cycling with no ads.

Now WBD want me to shell out the best part of £400 per year just to watch adverts with the occasional bit of cycling thrown in !
I'm already forced to pay £170 a year for a tv licence & what with energy prices continuing to rise, food prices continuing to rise & soon council tax about to go up £240+ a year, I'm afraid WBD are delusional if they think people can afford this frankly obscene price increase, let alone for an inferior offering.

Sad that I won't be able to watch cycling any more, having watched it all my life but even if I could afford it I wouldn't pay their extortionate subscription fees out of principle.

Corporate greed destroys yet another sport. First football then F1 now cycling, athletics will be next to price fans out, it's the only sport left that hasn't.

Killing cycling coverage.

As with so many other cycling fans, I'm now forced to pay £30.99 a month rather than £6.99 a month for a package of sports (it's sport by the way, not "sports") that I have no interest in.

I will be cancelling immediately after the Tour of Lombardy and subscribing again for Omloop next year, through gritted teeth.

The coverage itself is becoming flaky too - why are there now multiple versions of the same race with slightly different run times?

All in all, a financially rapacious company wrecks coverage of another sport.
