I’ve recently sold with a Dixons office…

I’ve recently sold with a Dixons office in Birmingham and on the whole the experience was very good other than a lack of communication at every point - they produced and good sales pack and sold my property very quickly so we achieved what I set out to do.
What I’m not so happy about is I’ve been chased by Connells Group for a charge I knew nothing about. Now signing the agency agreement with Dixons, it was sent to me a few times via email because I just couldn’t open the link. After probably a week the office were telling me they were ready to market and had a viewing so could I sign asap. I did finally get in and sign it however there in the small print was a charge I had not been told about and didn’t see when I signed. I do feel this was not transparent and, yes I should have read the agreement before signing, but also any charges should have been fully set out to me, and not hidden in the small print. I’ve now received an email from Connels demanding I pay this within 3 days! I asked them for a week extension til payday. They said no. I asked for a payment plan so I could make part of that payment within the three days and clear the balance the following week. They refused. They have now sent me to a debt collection which will charge more fees, for a charge I didn’t know about, and couldn’t pay in full in the first place. There is something morally wrong here. Firstly - any charges should be made transparent, and secondly you cannot give someone three days to pay. It’s because of companies like this that cause people so much upset and fear. You honestly should be ashamed of yourselves. For these reasons I will never ever use a Dixons office again - or any of the connels group. I have dealt with another estate agent and they don’t charge these hidden fees at all. It’s very very wrong

Just glad I'm not using them to sell my…

Just glad I'm not using them to sell my house. Cannock branch is terrible. No one to answer phone and they don't reply to messages left. Finally booked a viewing and no-one turned up, total waste of time. Finally managed to view and put forward an offer and they failed to get back to me in a reasonable amount of time. Since then I found another property with another agent placed offer which was accepted. Thanks for nothing Dixons Cannock.

10/10 service

10/10 service Lydia branch partner Paul senior sales consultant and valued team member Amy.Based at Dixon estate agent Northfield we’re exemplary in their professional approach to the sale of my property and purchase of another as were their recommended legal team of choice.JB Lawyers Cary’s and Kelsey based in wales.A special mention for Paul who after being contacted by Amy at my request attended my new property within half an hour to sort out an external lock problem after I had taken possession and signed for the keys 🔑.Which proves team Dixons Northfield does not forget about you once the property is signed over reassuring. On a final note I would definitely recommend Dixon estate agents Northfield to family and friends.Without hesitation George 👍👍👍

Brilliant!

Thank you, Dixons (Northfield)

For those of you looking for an agent to sell your home, Dixons is undoubtedly the one to choose. All staff were extremely helpful but those that shone were Paul and Lydia.

Both my sister and I met Paul and instantly liked him. He was open, honest and completely transparent relating to sale of the property.

Throughout the process, he dealt with all negotiations, viewings and communication and was passionate about solving complications that arose. He always went above and beyond; nothing was too much trouble. He was a total professional but one who also cared about us, his clients.

He became a friend throughout the process, and this is a very special attribute.
Lydia, the branch manager, worked endlessly to push the sale through to completion, solving all complications. She also went above and beyond our expectations.

They were both outstanding!

We couldn’t have done it without them.

Stacy at Solihull is brilliant!

I went into the Solihull, Poplar Road branch today and was fortunate enough to meet Stacy. She was an excellent ambassador for the company. I’ve dealt with Dixons before and not always had the best experience but today totally restored my faith in the company.
Stacy was polite and helpful and really listened to me- she was able to book me an appointment for a house viewing and made me feel as though she understood my situation
Very impressed with her attitude and knowledge

Disappointing experience with property management and deposits

After two years as a tenant, the most I can give Dixons Estate Agents is a 1-star review. While the initial setup was fine, the ongoing experience was very frustrating. When dealing with renewals, repairs, or the deposit team, the staff were consistently unresponsive and quick to shift the blame elsewhere. I never felt that they were on my side. At the end of our tenancy, they attempted to make unjustified deductions from our deposit for standard wear and tear, and we had to rely on the independent deposit scheme to get our money back. I would not work with them again nor recommend them to anyone. If you do rent with them, make sure you document everything.

A lovely agent called Lee

We had a lovely agent called Leoni (Lee) today showing us around a property in Stourbridge.

She was so lovely, knowledgable and related to us which eased us and made the experience one of our best.
She was excited to show us around and tell us things about the property, making it a very enthusiastic session that really helped with our opinion on the property.

UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE

POOR SERVICE!! My property, which has been under the care of Erdington Lettings for the past five years is lying empty.
Following the recent departure of my tenant, the property is now vacant due to significant damp and mould issues, which I understand have been exacerbated by a leaking roof. Despite the seriousness of this situation, the level of service I have received to date has been extremely disappointing.
I have been required to repeatedly chase for updates, and in most cases, I receive no response. On the occasions where I have managed to speak to someone, I am assured that follow-up emails will be sent—however, to date, I have not received any written communication as promised.
I am now trying to arrange for the property to be re-let, but I am again experiencing a lack of response from the lettings team, despite leaving multiple messages requesting a call back.
This situation has now reached a point where it is unacceptable. The lack of communication, delays in addressing essential issues (including potential structural concerns such as the leaking roof), and failure to progress reletting are causing both financial loss and unnecessary stress.
I require the following as a matter of urgency:

I require

Immediate contact from the lettings team to progress marketing and re-letting of the property
Access to my property so remedial works can commence.
A dedicated point of contact going forward

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no option but to escalate this further.

Honest review

Dixons estate agents are by far in my opinion one of the most helpful and honest agents I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with. They are very professional and very knowledgeable about the Kidderminster area. I would 100% recommend anyone who is looking to buy, rent or sell to use their services.

Be very careful – the contract ties you in far longer than you think

SADLY I CANNOT LEAVE 0 STARS:

This relates to Dixons - Working on my behalf as an Estate Agent handling the sale of my property

I’m leaving this review to help others avoid the situation I found myself in. The contract wording used by Dixons is not as clear as it should be, and it’s very easy for customers to misunderstand how long they are tied in for, PLEASE PLEASE READ ALL THE FINE PRINT BEFORE SIGNING ON THE DOTTED LINE, all the glitters isn't gold and I found that out to my peril.

People need to be aware that when you sign with Dixons, you are committed to a binding 16‑week minimum period, and even after those 16 weeks have passed, you are still tied in for a further 28 days’ notice. During this notice period, you cannot use another estate agent, cannot remarket elsewhere, and cannot move on, even if you have already asked for the property to be removed from the market.

In my case, I had been with Dixons for 5 months (20 weeks) by the time I asked for the property to be withdrawn — well beyond the 16‑week minimum period — and I genuinely believed the agreement had naturally ended. Only afterwards did I discover that the contract continues indefinitely until you give 28 days’ written notice, even when the property is no longer being marketed, they take it off their books but tie you in to a further 28 days where you cannot approach or relist with another Estate agent.

I raised this with the Property Ombudsman, not to seek compensation, but to highlight what I believe is unclear and potentially misleading wording so that others might be better protected. Unfortunately, because the clause is technically written in the contract, the Ombudsman does not assess fairness — only whether the agent followed the wording.

My hope is that this review helps others go into the agreement with full awareness, as the practical implications of the notice period are not obvious from the way the contract is presented.

They Never replied to Emails at all, I think they were afraid of committing anything to an audit trail I think

ALSO ANOTHER IMPORTANT WARNING FOR OTHERS
DO NOT LET THEM BADGER YOU INTO DROPPING YOUR HOUSE PRICE WITH THE PROMISE OF “GETTING MORE INTEREST AND GETTING MORE THAN THE ORGINAL ASKING PRICE”. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN — ALL IT DOES IS DEVALUE YOUR PROPERTY.

Forget the money-thirsty Oakmans — go to Dixons!

I have dealt with Dixons Estate Agents on several house viewings in Birmingham, and my experience has been excellent. Amy and Claire are genuinely the nicest estate agents I have met. They are energetic, professional, and—most importantly—they take the time to listen. They really paid attention to my preferences for buying a house, made thoughtful recommendations, and never once tried to push a property on me that didn’t feel right.

Their approach is completely different from my experience with Oakmans, where I always felt like just another person in a long queue and, at times, as if they were doing me a favour by showing a property. With Dixons, the process felt personal, respectful, and genuinely helpful.

If you’re looking to buy or sell a house in Birmingham, I would definitely recommend going to Dixons.

Unprofessional

Agent delayed viewing booking by 10 minutes, then proceeded to be another 25 mins late. Unresponsive over texts, didn't introduce themselves and even had to have my appointment with another potential tenant at the same time due to delays. I found this absolutely unprofessional as they should have at least had the courtesy to do this 1-1. They did not have enough information about the property and felt very rushed to leave. Property was also not cleaned before the viewings, very off-putting state unlike as shown in listing photos.
