illegal practices
I signed up because some friends said I need it to join their P&P games but we never actually played, so I deleted my account again.
That was roughly 2 years ago and to this day, I get flooded with promotional E-Mails every week (it makes 90% of all mails I get in this account). After I informed them that they are breaking EU-law by doing so, they asked if I can give them personal information to prove who I am. I informed them again, there is no asking for stuff, according to the law, if I send an E-Mail, telling them to stop, THEY HAVE TO DO SO! But they never did!
So now I am working on a report for the authorities. For those who don't know, these are considered serious violations here and they are very easy to prove (flooded Mailbox). This could cost them up to 50.000€ in fines, PER PERSON!), so if you live in the EU and they do the same to you (or anything illegal really), I suggest reporting them too, this nonsense has to stop.
So yea, I cannot say anything else in regards to the service since all they ever did to me was flooding my mailaccount with promotion-mails. But since one should avoid using services provided by potential criminals in general, I guess you can tell if I would recommend D&DB to you.
If I get updates from the authorities, I'll report back here.
An embodyment of Wisards' greed
It was paywalled trash from the start. Wizards killed nearly all free online D&D helpers to force everybody into this microtransactional hell, even though such tools were essential for many players - D&D is kind of overcomplicated. Now they also want to collect personal data, IDs, and similar information, as if they were a bank or a government website. Back to the paper or even out of D&D if you put it this way.

I ordered 3 core books D&D 2024 and digital editions for almost 200 dollars.
When I received the books, it turned out that they were not packaged properly at all. There were holes in the cardboard box and no bubble wrap or other protection for the books. All 3 books had bent corners.
I wrote immediately asking for an exchange or a reduction in the price. And sent pictures of the damage.
They did not think they were able to send books in perfect condition and therefore they would not exchange and they could not offer any other form of compensation.
Really poor service that they cannot send undamaged books. And that they will not take responsibility when their shipments are damaged.

misrepresented prices
after ordering from their web store it took about 2 weeks for my product to ship, I'm sure holiday's had an affect I'm unhappy but I understand. The price however, stated the price of my purchase was $65 US after shipping. When it arrived carrier wanted another $20. The Customer should always be made aware in a very clear way of ALL costs, taxes, shipping any duties or tariffs. I will never trust them to properly represent full cost again it nor will I make a purchase from them ever again I will be telling other to at the very least expect to pay almost 50% more on arrival. If they truly wish to make things right they can start by showing any and all possible shipping costs and try and shipping in a faster time frame.
Dont preorder!
The prices are extreme. The service low.
Preordered heroes of borderlands months ago. is out half september, europe only 14 oktober but yet I am still waiting for it and zero communication or service from wotc or their french partner.
Whatever you do, dont order any physical stuff. And I highly advice picking a far better company and game to run.
worst support ever
I'm going to try to make this short I used my account at my workplace so my employer paid for one year subscription but I forgot to remove the card so when I stopped working there of course the denied the next years payment on it that resulted in my account getting locked I tried riding in support two times now and I don't get any answers back and it's been over 12 days now with no response on any of my email and I responded with proof of ownership as they asked in the first support case but never heard from them again so now I just lost 8 books there is on that account that they won't even answer me back why they won't reopen and I explained everything to them but no answer no nothing just silence..................
New company, Bad policies
The company that took over tried to do some cash grabs and micro transaction crap. They recently recreated rulebooks and guides and forced the update onto their character creation website. The issue is I've already purchased almost 36 books and I can't even access some of my content in the character creation list anymore. When I asked to be compensated for what I did purchase by giving me copies of the old material, I was told I couldn't have them because they were digital... Digital but I have to use the new source books in the character builder and Guide shortcuts. In order to access my purchased books I have to go into several menu's to get my material pulled up which isn't helpful at all.
I've had my account for years and this kind of stuff is why companies go bankrupt. I wasn't even offered a discounted price to update to the new books for the website.
I also don't like the fact that all of the prices and the books more than doubled since Wizards took over. No one wants to pay $40 for online-only content. Wizards have destroyed this company with their greedy cash grabs and schemes.
Great site, less great app.
I see a lot of people finding a single bad thing and thus giving one star but most features on this site is actually well thought out, easily navigated and beautifully designed.
The map feature is great looking, easy to use and understand and getting new features monthly it seems.
The only gripe i have is the phone app that is a bit clunky and missing some features but hopefully they'll get it up to speed in the future.
Horrible garbage company so I canceled…
Horrible garbage company so I canceled my subscription they claimed i never canceled it and continued to bill me for an entire year so I'm all set luckily my bank handeled the situation and got most of money back I will never use this entrapment of a service ever again
Taking my money, ignoring my emails, app isn't working for me
I signed up for a paid subscription but the app keeps saying I only have the free version. Contacted them but they didn't resolve the problem and are now ignoring my emails despite still taking my money
Digital products
Preordered the Digital Players handbook, you do not get an ebook with this purchase just webpages that take forever to load.
After stating in a forum that I paid the company for something that will be free on the internet in a weeks time, I got a ban warning.
I havent had a chance to even start the hobby and this experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth.
Terrible company AVOID
literally don't even respond to any customer support issues.
What has Beyond done right
What has Beyond done right? I have no interest in running D&D for my table anymore. There isn't a single ttRPG with this much bad karma and I'm looking elsewhere. I had JUST learned how to play and run D&D for my table and we completed Lost Mine. We were figuring out and learning the game, and we got the rug pulled out from under us with the D&D Beyond update regarding deleting old spells. Everything this company does is a slap in the face to its players.
Ordered Bigbys Glory of the Giants…
Ordered Bigbys Glory of the Giants physical and digital copy. Turns out the digital copy was access to an online version through a portal, so not a digital copy. Quite misleading - to be polite.
Delay in receiving digital book
I was worried that my digital book wasn't going to arrive, as there was no communication for 3 days. No where in the website does it say there's no support on a Friday to Sunday. However my book has arrived, and I am happy 😁
Tried to cancel my subscription with…
Tried to cancel my subscription with help from support, but they never bothered to respond. After 3 days I cancelled the subscription myself and opened a disputed charge case with PayPal. A week later my funds are back in my account but still no reply from DND Beyond support. Guess they decided to downscale support to zero. DND Beyond is just a scam now. It used to be good. 🤷♂️
Update: because of the subscription chargeback, DND Beyond has decided to ban access to my entire account, including non-subscriber digital content which I paid more than $200 for. In case you had any doubt whether DND Beyond is a criminal enterprise, this should confirm it.
-WAS- fantastic.
-WAS- fantastic; wouldn't bother now. Hasbro have successfully ruined an otherwise successful venture with their greedy, money-grubbing antics.
Removed the ability to buy individual feats/creatures in favour of buying £50 books all at once.
Joining so many other people in finding content elsewhere.
Hot tip to the company? Fire the clown that came up with the idea.
More disappointing by the day - The final drop of water
The desktop app is great for a dnd one shot, with the included basic rule system and one subclass give or take for each class and one feat (yes, one feat maybe two?). After that, pay! I'm the DM of my campaign for only a year and already spent hundreds of dollars in the website, because I like to give my players options. Now they decided to take away the ONE good feature of the store- being able to buy stand alone items from a book. Was going to make a new NPC with a subclass I don't have yet, and now I have to spend 30+ dollars to buy the entire book if I want to use their platform. Not to mention that, I should get a discount towards the book that I already bought pieces from, but for that to happen I have to go to CS to get my money refunded to me. This is downright a scam at this point, preying on the DnD fanbase, a bunch of introverts that will never write a message to retrieve 10$. Seen in forums that you can just make the homebrew content, but besides being against TOC, the last thing I want as a DM is to spend time also making up my own subclasses or magic items. Thank you kindly WOTC, me and my players will be moving on to other TTRPGs.
Hasbro Getting Greedy
Hasbro got involved and ruined the platform with their money grubbing. They removed the a la carte purchasing features. I suggest avoiding getting involved with this platform until they fix this problem with and return the features taken away and guarantee that homebrew will not be removed from the platform
