Dobbies Garden Centres - Royston Reviews 240

Went to Dobbies purely on the basis of having lunch last week and particularly a Sunday lunch for my partner. Checked the menu when we arrived that they did infact do Sunday lunch, it appeared so, very clearly advertised. On ordering at the till he was asked "What's a Sunday lunch?" After asking a colleague if they were doing them my partner was told no they were not. This isn't the first time this has happened but we gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe previously it was to do with covid. Not a problem if you don't do Sunday roasts, but why are you advertising that you do? 🤔 sadly also no decaff coffee for me. Surely I'm not the only person that drinks decaff?! Unfortunately the waitress that also bought our drinks wasn't the best. Shame as the garden centre itself is nice but we won't be eating at the cafe again anytime soon.

Shopping at Dobbies is a good experience. Your staff are pleasant and knowledgeable, and you have a wide range of products.

We went originally to visit the Cotton Traders unit within the store as we often do and place an order.
Decided to have some coffee and cake in the restaurant whilst there. Cake was delicious. Pity they never have pouring cream for the coffee.
Bought a pre-planted hanging basket which was lovely.
Staff helpful and friendly as always.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful. They loaded two heavy bags of soil into my car. There is a wonderful variety of very healthy-looking plants. My wife enjoys browsing in the various shopping outlets and as always, we finish with a very nice cup of coffee and a delicious snack.

Previously store was beginning to look a bit run down but you are busy transforming it and it’s now looking lovely. You are selling a good range of products and gift ideas. Cafe was buzzing, food is good and staff are helpful.

Good selection of plants and items.would have liked better wayfinding for items outside as I was looking for water features and took me ages to find where they had been moved to since my last visit

Food was quick and tasty. We upgraded to chips and they were very nice but only a few. Could do with some more. Experience was good, all the staff were friendly and professional. Could not fault my trip today.

Had a lovely visit with my sister, enjoyed a coffee in the restaurant , staff very polite and welcoming. I was very impressed with the menu and will certainly be returning for a lunchtime visit. Overall our day was very enjoyable, there was lots of good quality plants, and beautiful things for the home and garden.

I had coffee with a friend in the cafe which was very nice, then needed to buy a birthday card. Good selection of cards for many occasions so I bought several.
I then spotted a ‘Sale’ area and found some bargains that will be very useful as gifts!

Be aware shoppers that all the houseplants are absolutely teeming with spider mites. It was difficult to find what I wanted as the houseplant section has shrunk and then finding unaffected plants was trickier. The staff also seem barely interested and couldn’t catch anyone to ask where the willows were so I guess I’ll be getting that one online elsewhere. Love that as a young woman shopping alone, I tend to receive vastly different treatment from staff compared with families and older visitors.

It is a 25min car drive to Dobbies Royston, so do not go too often. I have asked 3 times for one of your summer cold drinks, each time they are not available, yesterdays excuse was No Ice. I requested the Caesar Salad, then sat there picking out all the brown and black bits of lettuce, when I had filled half the edge of the plate I returned it for a refund to a unsympathetic staff member who assured me all salads are made fresh. The evidence on my plate disagreed with this statement. So, after my husband had finished his fish and chips we went home and I prepared my own meal. I am diabetic so deep fried and carbohydrates are out for me. I have also had cancer twice, the second a rare and nasty abdominal tumour so, I am now very careful about what I ingest. I am not prepared to take chances and I would not expect anyone else to either. The two stars are for the speed at which the meals arrived and that my husband enjoyed his.

Staff are always very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable making the shopping experience a pleasure.
