I booked the 3-day tour with Federica…

I booked the 3-day tour with Federica and found the perfect apartment on the second day. All the apartments I saw met all the criteria that were important to me and Federica explained all details of the areas and apartments thoroughly. This experience made finding an apartment easy, especially as someone who has just moved to Milan and that has never rented an apartment before.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Dotstay and would not recommend their services.

First of all, the contract is extremely one-sided and abusive. Hidden costs appear at the end of the stay, like cleaning fees that were never mentioned in advance, even though I paid agency fees that should have covered such services.

When we had issues during our tenancy, Dotstay was unresponsive and unhelpful. The washing machine had a clear defect, but instead of taking responsibility, we were forced to pay for the repair ourselves. To make matters worse, the air conditioning in the apartment never worked properly, and nothing was done about it despite our complaints.

Overall, Dotstay prioritizes profit over tenant well-being and transparency. I would advise anyone considering using them to read the fine print very carefully and to be prepared for extra costs and little to no support if anything goes wrong.

First of all, we would like to clarify that Dotstay is not a real estate agency: for over ten years, we have operated with professionalism and care in the field of relocation and housing services.

At Dotstay, we are committed to operating transparently, fairly, and strictly within the framework of Italian tenancy law. Always.
Every step of the process is documented and rental agreements, which are reviewed and signed in advance, clearly outline all tenant responsibilities. These are not hidden fees, but standard contractual clauses, in line with national regulations and common industry practice.

Regarding the washing machine, we feel compelled to highlight that we acted well beyond our obligations. Although this was a matter of ordinary maintenance, clearly defined by Italian law as the tenant’s responsibility in cases of damage due to misuse, we stepped in to assist you. Out of courtesy, and fully aware that you were navigating this process as a non-italian speaker, we facilitated communication with a certified local technician, obtained an official report on your behalf, and offered guidance on next steps. These actions are not standard agency procedures: we did them because we care and because we try to be genuinely helpful, even outside our formal scope.

As for the air conditioning, the delay in resolution stemmed from the fact that, rather than reporting the issue directly to us, you initially chose to equivocally involve other parties. This unfortunately slowed down our ability to intervene promptly. Nonetheless, the AC unit was repaired and restored to working condition.


We genuinely regret that our efforts - many of which went well beyond contractual duties - were not appreciated. However, we remain proud of how professionally and responsibly we handled this situation.

Great experience

Overall great experience. We booked a day-long tour and roamed around Milan with two amazing ladies from Dotstay’s team. All the apartments met almost all of the criteria and the trip ended with successfully finding a rental apartment.

I had a great experience with my Angel Federica, who was very thoughtful and thorough with showing me all my options and especially, it was great that she took the time to help me think through my renting plan and current situation. Really friendly and helpful service

After checking out 8 places through the 7-day and 3-day plans, I finally found an apartment I’m really happy with.
This was all thanks to Federica’s dedicated support. She never rushed me to make a decision during the tours, which helped me stay calm and focused. Since she is a true Milanese, she knows a lot about many different areas and gave me helpful advice on safety and nearby shops. I’m really grateful for everything.

I’m also thinking of using a cleaning service through Dotstay after moving in. Overall, I’m really satisfied with Dotstay in terms of the support and the chance to visit places in person.
*I gave one less star because I couldn't specify the viewing times during the 3-day plan, and that wasn’t clear on the site.

Helpful service

I was quite dissatisfied with the bureaucratic details like the signing of documents and correspondence with the real estate agents. Aside from that, my agent herself was really helpful and made things a breeze.

I'd recommend using this platform if you just moved to Italy, can't speak Italian, and/or are not familiar with all the rental procedures.
