Selina Brown is absolutely great

Selina Brown is absolutely great. Very professional and friendly. Was extremely patient and helpful in assisting me in getting the vehicle I wanted and needed, that suits me perfectly. Very clean and well.maintianed vehicle with very low mileage. She is an indeed asset and pleasure to work with. I'd recommend Drivetime and especially Selina anyday.

GM Nicole of Newport News shes very rude and unprofessional

The worst experience I’ve ever had was with the General Manager, Nicole Vaughn. She was extremely rude and unprofessional during my visit. Because of this, I have already submitted a formal complaint to the company.

This situation made me feel very uncomfortable, especially while my wife was in the process of signing and paying for the vehicle. At that moment, I simply asked for scissors to remove a cable tie from the mirror, and the response I received was unacceptable. When making such an important financial decision, customers should feel respected, safe, and valued—not dismissed or unwelcome.

Honestly, if it weren’t for Nicholas, the sales representative, I would have canceled the deal. He was professional, patient, and reassured me that I could reach out to any DriveTime location if I had concerns—not just this one in Newport News. His attitude made a big difference.

It is very important when purchasing or financing a car to feel confident in the people you are dealing with. Unfortunately, the behavior of the General Manager gave the impression that our business was not appreciated, and that is not acceptable.

I strongly recommend working with Nicholas and his colleagues, as they demonstrate true professionalism and customer care. Thank you, Nicholas, for your support—I truly appreciate it.

However, I am genuinely surprised that someone with such poor customer service can hold a management position.

Great experience!

Mr. Joseph Banks was amazing! At the Newport News, VA location. He was detailed, he explained it all to me took the time to break it down and even stepped away to give me and my sister some privacy to talk. No Manipulation Dealership

One of the worst things about car dealerships is the added pressure from the salesperson, but Nicholas is by far the best car salesman I've ever interacted with. No pressure and very helpful and most importantly I didn't feel judged by him. This location was so welcoming and the people there seem to genuinely enjoy what they do.

I traveled from Memphis

I traveled from Memphis, TN to Newport News, VA for a Jeep 4XE. It had very low mileage at a great price to good to pass up. Flying to get vehicle and driving back was a 12 hr drive. Well my hubby cosign on the car and no one ever said he had to travel with me. I was under the impression he could sign papers at the Memphis Drive Time location. Well upon arriving Nicole the location manager was semi rude. I paid it no attention. Nicholas the salesman was awesome! Even though we held the vehicle for 7 days and I went on the 4th day to pickup the income had to be reverified because hubby got a new check stub by then. No biggie. I did all the paperwork in VA my hubby went into the Memphis location and signed his part. I was told on 1/29 that they will mail the registration paperwork for the tags to the Memphis drivetime location and hubby will need to go in and sign so I can get my tags. Well on 1/17 I got a call from the Memphis manager while I was at work and was told hubby needed to come in and sign the paperwork for the tags. Ok no biggie. Next call I get is from Nicole the manager in VA who gets on the phone with me saying she has been calling me for weeks about signing the paperwork and if I did not sign them she was going to Repossess the car! I politely said he will be in to sign them and hung up on her. I called hubby letting him know what just happened and he said he hasn’t gotten a call from ANYONE. While we are on the phone, this rude woman called him saying the same thing! Being rude saying they are going to repossess the car! Well let me tell you something I got the truck at 17,000 miles on 1/29 and on 2/3 the engine light came on. The warranty Silver rock said take it to Firestone their in network warranty place. They could not get a diagnostic on it and referred me to the Jeep Dealership. After going back and forth with Silver rock they agree to waive the$300 out of network fee to take to the Jeep Dealership. My truck has been in shop for over 2 weeks! And guess what I have a payment due on a truck I can’t drive. So Nicole if you want it go pick it up from the dealership and give me my money back! The salesman nicholas was nice and knowledgeable but that Darn NICOLE is going to be the down fall of their company . Then come to find out she is from Memphis. I guess she couldn’t cut it in Memphis So she had to go across the country with that bad nasty attitude! Drivetime honestly needs to get rid of her!

Please do not do it

Please do not do it! Please click on lower reviews, and you will see numerous reviews on the GM Nicole at this location. Firstly, when I first entered Drive Time, Newport News, Nicole was very unwelcoming and unprofessional. I sat in the waiting area with some nice other woman. When a woman asked me if the lady upfront was rude to me? As they stated that she was rude to them. I observed Nicole, as I sat, and she had her picking of whom she chose to be rude too. I did not purchase a vehicle that night. A couple of days later, the assistant manager, Selina Call me to ask about my experience. Explain what happens with my experience and she invited me back in. I worked with the salesman Mike, who was completely awesome. Mike and Selina assisted me with parting a vehicle that I would need to pick up from Richmond, Virginia. A few days later, I decided to check in to see if there was a vehicle closer to my location before I drove to Richmond for the purchase. Nicole picked up the phone. She was very rude, condescending, and passive aggressive. She said that I would need to come in just to ask simple questions. I eventually asked for the human resources number and she gave me all digits but one. I had to call the Norfolk Chesapeake location to get the correct number. I will tell you the GM in the sales reps. There were also awesome. They answered all of the simple questions that I had. I ended up speaking with the Richmond location prior to picking up my vehicle on a Saturday. I will tell you, Lucy and Brandon were awesome at that location. I did not have any bad experience with any sales reps at all. However, the vehicle that I purchased was a lemon. The vehicle did not make it the hour and a half drive back home. It was undrivable and I was stuck with my toddler. I cannot reach anyone for that Saturday and until Monday. I do not blame the sales reps as if they do not handle the condition of the vehicle. Monday morning I did call customer Relations back as that how I already been my second call, because I had already caught complaining about Nicole. I had to have a vehicle towed myself to the closest dealership, which was the Newport News location. The GM Nicole has no sympathy or empathy at all. I was extremely upset because I have just given down payment, drove to Richmond on my day off, and a card did not make it back. I was gonna look into another vehicle at the Norfolk Chesapeake location however I decided not to give Drive Time any more of my money. Also, with Nicole, being in the face of that location made find another vehicle even more tasteless. I recall the loan and requested my down payment back. I did explain to her that that vehicle was a lemon and she is lucky no one has sued them. I decided to have every conversation through customer relations. Nicole has full customer relations multiple times that my down payment check will be coming to the store itself. As of yesterday they followed up with her again and they sent it to my address without an apartment number. As of right now is very possible for the check to be out in limbo. She has lived multiple times. The guys in the location are awesome Mike and Joseph. I am positive. Their selves are affected by Nicole’s Customer Service. The energy in the branch is completely different with Nicole not be in there. As awesome as the guys are. I do not recommend this location at all. Also, I do not recommend a vehicle. I will also like to give kudos to Bobby and Ryan from customer relations who helped assist me through this horrible circumstance. Please read other reviews about Nicole. I’m not a fan of anyone losing their job. However, she should not be working for Drive Time.

I got a 2018 Nissan Rogue that had a…

I got a 2018 Nissan Rogue that had a week old inspection sticker yet the master cylinder failed and right axle was leaking. Took it back 2 days later and got a 2016 Rogue. The rear passenger seatbelt didn’t buckle yet had a week old inspection sticker. Two cars in the same week that should have failed inspection is very suspicious, I just don’t have that type of luck. I feel a class action suit would cure this persistent problem with DriveTime vehicles
