Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 151 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the service, citing frequent timeouts and error messages during file uploads and transfers, making the platform unreliable for essential tasks. The website's user experience was also a major point of contention, with people finding it difficult to navigate and encountering frustrating security measures, such as excessive verification questions that often reset. Furthermore, many reported issues with their subscriptions, including unexpected storage limits and difficulties in managing or canceling their accounts, leading to a sense of being trapped. The customer service received widespread criticism, with users describing it as non-existent, unhelpful, and often providing automated or contradictory responses, leaving them without adequate support for critical issues. However, some customers also noted that for basic personal use, the service could be convenient for storing files, and some found it easy to use for simple tasks like uploading and sharing links.

Not user friendly

I can see why I dropbox is so badly rated. The website is very poorly and confusingly designed where you have to search and think at length to know how to do anything, even find a recent file. Syncing often did not work no matter what settings I used. Often it would just hang up on my PC and I would try 10 different things as directed by copilot Ai and none of them would work to get it to finish syncing. It's also very expensive. I can back up to Google Drive for free or even a good old flash drive plugged into a USB port. Feels good to be rid of their clunky, frustrating product.

Stay Away from Dropbox.com

I put my cherished photos and videos of my granddaughters in Dropbox several years ago. Now, when I want to put them in a scrapbook for my granddaughter's graduation, I can't access them. When I try, the chatbot entity refers me to a technician who wants my credit card info. I'm sick of scams, and there is no human at Dropbox to help me out.

DROPBOX fleeces its customers

My administrative assistant did not realize we already had a dropbox account. When we tried to cancel one and keep one, dropbox had 2 separate customer service reps respond. Both asked the same questions. I gave both the same answers. Yet, dropbox would not issue a credit for 11 months for one of the accounts. Rep said "Next period is cancelled." That is fleecing 101! Check your accounts. Dropbox gets rich off the little guys.

BEWARE OF THE FREE TRIAL

BEWARE OF THE FREE TRIAL: Manipulative language will coerce you into signing up for a year subscription when you only mean to sign up for a trial. Once charged, Dropbox will NOT issue refunds under any circumstances. Customer service is dreadful.

Storage space doesn't increase with file deletion

I use the free version, but no matter how many files I delete from there my storage space doesn't improve and it won't even let me view files shared by other users. I get that they want me to pay but then they should just be upfront about it and say I can't use it anymore without subscription.

Dropbox used to be good. Now it's a scam

I’ve used Dropbox for years and never had an issue, never exceeded storage limits, never abused the service.
Recently, I tried to access older files and found they were no longer available unless I upgraded. There was no clear warning that my files would become inaccessible under new rules.
Now I’m essentially being told to pay to recover access to my own data.
That’s not a good look. If policies change, users should be clearly notified before access is restricted, especially for long-time customers who stayed within the limits at the time.
This feels less like a service and more like a retroactive paywall on files I already trusted them to store.
Very disappointing experience.

Whoever was behind the file deletion marketing technique has no heart or long-term planning mindset

I have lost files that I will not recover again as I did not have a perfect copy of my DropBox to another cloud.

They could had plan it with a heart in mind. They only send one email and no recovery plan.

A smart company would have resurrected the pain with money, or at least infirm about the deletion with another email, or at least a notification about future deletions in the app, or past deletion, or a recovery option.

None of these, just lost files.

Of course I will never use DropBox again.

Disgusting

Disgusting. Logged in and it forces a free trial with no option to close the dialog. It then lied to me about being out of space when below the lie it showed I have 1.8g unused space. Awful

Disgraceful app

Disgraceful app. I've used premium for a number of years, wanted to move the files to a new computer and it just can't do it. It seems although I'm paying for 2 tb it cant transfer the 1.2tb from one computer to another. I then tried it manually copied them over to the new computer Dropbox folder then Dropbox doubled up on everything and completely filled the account, so now I have 5m files which Dropbox says it will take 8 months to sort out and no space in the Dropbox account....save your money. Their ai won't help and when you need your backup, you won't be able to access it.

Always a problem with them

I’ve been using Dropbox for many years and I always seem to have issues with their products. They have absolutely terrible customer service…amongst the worst I’ve ever experienced. They don’t offer phone support and the agents aren’t helpful and only respond once a day. I often have to resolve issues completely on my own. Dropbox was having issues syncing to my iMac and I wound up having to remove all of my important data from my Dropbox and store it directly on my hard drive. Additionally, the main selling point for Dropbox for me over other cloud storage providers yes ago was their Vault feature…which had since been removed. I will very likely be moving on from Dropbox when my current subscription is up for renewal unless they plan on doing something to improve their product features, integration and customer service.

Would give zero if possible. Requests payment to download files sent by clients. Offers a free trial but will charge you for it even if cancelled - has happened to me twice now. New company policy is no dropbox, have deleted account and will never go back.

I emailed to cancel my account as it was up for renewal. They are giving me the total run around and keep coming back to me asking for more information. Then they wanted me to send it from another email I have and it got returned saying they don't monitor the email that I sent it to, even though that is the email they asked me to send it to. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

I use Dropbox occasionally to store and share files between devices. It works fine for basic uploads and downloads, but syncing can be slow at times, and the free storage feels limited compared to alternatives. It’s OK for light use, but not my first choice for everything.

Count not be worst except the dilberatly still and delete yyour files. I swear these people do not understand a word of English. I asked them "Why am I being warned my files will be deleted in 35 days", and the write me back saying, "You still have 329 days. (Three hundred)." Then I asked, why all the warnings after three months? I only have four files not even 98 mb total, and still getting a "You are over the limit warning." But the limit is 2000 MB, that's 2GB. Leave Dropbox, these people are the worst of His creation. No contact, no replies, no understanding or comprehension of what is being said. Woe, if you want to face troubles... this is the place.. Also.. there fees are astronomical compare to others I have found considering I need smallest of space. I am still trying to get them to understand English words... such as WHY, When, how is it? No replies. Five months now.

Non-Existent Customer Service

It took over a month to get a single add on, then the billing has been completely non-sensical. My main point of contact cannot help with the billing issues, instead I have to go reach out to a different team. It's a merry go round of pain.
