Used to be great

We used to love shoping here, was always fast shipping and great customer service, but our last 2 orders (past 12 mo) have had significant issues: missing products, wrong descriptions for customs/FDA clearance, long wait times, and lack of communication once we've reached out. I'm super disappointed and looking at other options.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! I've just had a fraudulent card transaction and as I use unique email addresses I know my card details and other personal details came from this company. So it looks like either they have been hacked or using my details fraudulently. Avoid!

Very disappointing

Very disappointing. Ordered something and received the wrong item. After posting a negative review, was contacted and given a refund. Made the mistake of giving them the benefit of the doubt and tried again. Received the wrong item again. I’m done.
Update: was reached out and apologized to, and given another refund, so at least the customer service side is working, even if fulfillment side is not. Raised from 1 to 3 stars.

I have used this shop 3 times.
3 failures.
Late order.
Late order with expired items.
And still waiting more than a week for some products that I paid for a next day delivery?? My advice is avoid avoid avoid

Bad service and custom routine

A package with 6-7 different food items got stuck in customs as the information on exact content and value was missing. I was asked to handle this myself.
I think for 30 euro I cost for handling and expedition one would expect this to be handled by the shipper, as is usual in other webshops I order from.
Customer service was very unspecific and said they would resolve this, but it is now 3 weeks after I ordered and nothing has come yet. They also failed to answer questions about whether local custom fees would be due or not.

I pointed these problems out in the standard review I was sent, and as cherry topping this cake in customer handling I was asked to change my review, with the package still missing and no answer to my question.

I understand that things can go wrong in customs, proper customer handling should be priority if something goes wrong. Also one would expect shipping and customs declaration to go smooth in a company solely aimed at expats.

Box arrived

They take a while to process but after a week or so I got an email with a tracking code. My first box sadly got damaged in transit so it got stuck in the UK. I contacted the dutch expat shop and they reached out to the shipment company to see what the problem was. I then got offered two options, either a complete refund or a new box to be sent the following Monday (their shipping day). I wanted the box and like they promised it was sent on Monday and it arrived 2 days later. The frozen items are still frozen and the bottles arent broken. Super happy to have some things from home

Perfect, except for the 3 days promise

The only reason not to give 5 stars is the statement on the website that they need max 3 business days to process the order. It creates an expectation that they do not meet, probably most of the time. In my case it took a week before it was shipped, which is fine. I received it within 2 weeks from ordering, which is fine too, and everything was included, which is perfect. I'll order again.

Delighted to have received my Tripel Karmeliet Belgian beer delivery in Ireland.

It's not easy to get wonderful Tripel Karmeliet Belgian blond and special beer delivered to Ireland so I was delighted to find a website that would deliver it. I noticed some not-so-positive feedback on delivery timeframes for order and sent a query to the Dutch Expat Shop. Got a prompt response from Charlie which put my mind at ease and ordered the beers. They arrived and we can't wait to enjoy them.

Extremely disappointing experience

I placed an order on 26 November, and today is 8 December — the order has still not been shipped. I tried contacting customer service three times (twice through the website and once by email), but I never received any response.

There were no updates, no tracking, and no explanation for the delay.
Due to the complete lack of communication, I had no choice but to request a refund and take further steps through my bank.

This has been one of the least reliable customer service experiences I have had. I cannot recommend this shop based on what I experienced.

I ordered Oct 20th still haven’t…

I ordered Oct 20th still haven’t received any communication even though website says they will ship by 3 business days….

Finally they got back after 9 days, saying products are out of stocks which is impossible to believe, I was in Netherlands few months ago and those salami sticks are everywhere. They just a bunch of lazy people it seems.

Stay away from the Dutch Expat Shop

In my case, ordering 12 packages of Lu biscuits on 25th August, Dutch Expat Shop withdrew the payment on 29th August WITHOUT sending a mail with shipping info.
A week after, without any communication from the shop, I prompted my bank to cancel the credit card transaction. First then, Dutch Expat Shop responded, saying sorry for the delay and promissing to send the goods on 9th September at the latest.
The goods were not shipped untill 11th September.
I wonder if anything had happened, if I hadn't prompt my bank.

One of the worst online shopping…

One of the worst online shopping experiences I’ve ever had.
I placed an order with Dutch Expat Shop that was promised within 4 business days, but it arrived more than two weeks late. Half of the products were useless by then, and to make things worse, they shipped infant milk that expires in just 2 months – completely unacceptable for baby formula.

When I raised the issue, customer service hid behind their terms & conditions, refused any responsibility for the delay, and dismissed my request for a modest reimbursement. Selling near-expired baby products and then shrugging off responsibility is disgraceful.

I cannot recommend this shop – poor reliability, poor product standards, and zero accountability.

Out of Date food.

I had visited Holland for over 20 years until my Dutch husband passed away this year, my very last visit was to scatter his ashes. When I returned home I found that I could order some of our favourite Dutch food. I noticed that everything was priced much higher than the Dutch supermarkets, which I accepted but then the packaging was almost as expensive as the 7 items I ordered. I placed my order on 29/08/25 and received it on 08/09/25, well packaged, chilled items had frozen solid, noting that the carton of Vla was bulging then checked the date, it actually expired the day before I placed my order and the cheese expired 4 days after delivery, which is not so much of a problem, but the Vla was curdled and rank. So I will not be using them again, cheaper to hop on a plane and shop myself.

Great price, packaging, shipping

Great job! They have Klene licorice and ship to the US. Great cost on the product. Shipping from Holland costs but they use DHL and it was here in a week and packed great. DHL texts with updates. Wonderful

10 out of 10 service

I ordered around 60 items, some of them needing extra packaging/cooling elements, and the delivery was perfect. It had to be delivered in 2 boxes and both appeared on time, perfectly packaged. Communication with the company was of a very high standard and I immediately received a refund for the few items that were sold out, without having to ask!

I ordered a Syoss shampoo and…

I ordered a Syoss shampoo and conditioner. Not only is the conditioner missing, I also received the wrong shampoo. This is not ok. Would not purchase again. I am waiting for an answer from customer service.
