I had a driving test today in Ipswich…

I had a driving test today in Ipswich at 1.35pm and my examiners name was Claire. I just want everyone to know how amazing she was today. She really made me feel comfortable and calmed my nerves I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I think she done a great job today and I just want to say thank you and I hope she gets appreciated as much as she deserves.

it is 1 month exactly now from 23 march i am looking from 6 am till 10:45 pm looking a booking in London can not find any all the time no test available . DVSA should feel shame about that , they have done noting to improve their website , still you can book through 3rd party , but this will cost a lot of money extra( I don not want to pay , hopefully ) but what I see I have to pay in the end if I can not book via DVSA . really I feel disappointed , frustrated , angry

Yeading test with John :)

Had a test with John today at Yeading test centre. He made me feel so calm and at ease throughout my whole driving experience, although my anxiety was sky high! Such a lovely guy with a great personality. Would highly recommend.

Absolute shambles

Set my alarm for 5.45. Only 9000 people ahead of me. In a queue. Finally got in after 30m wait. Needed to change my daughters test. Entered correct details, screen stuck on loading. Go back, try again, same thing. Then get an error message, error 15, access denied and I am now blocked. An absolute disgraceful system that does not work. Didn't work three years ago for my other daughter and doesn't work now. Nothing in this country ever works, especially if you're a law abiding, hard working member of society. All I want is to book a test for my child. It's already costing a fortune, so now what are my options? Pay out even more to use the companies that buy all the slots. DVSA, you should be ashamed.

DVSA: Muppets Running the Show!

Absolute shambles from start to finish! You can’t even book a driving test date without jumping through hoops—been trying for ages, but they’re forever fully booked. Their bright idea is to have people traipse halfway across the country to take a test—like anyone’s got the time or money for that! On top of it all, they’ve handed way too much power to dodgy instructors who are ripping folks off left, right, and centre. Feels like the whole thing is just one giant faff. Just sucks!

Why does it feel like I’m on a queue for a Beyonce ticket ?!

All I have to say is this is the most appalling experience I have ever had. It’s already annoying enough it’s so hard to pass but what makes this more excruciating is booking an actual test. I was online at 6am trying to book a test and I was on a queue with 23,000 people. It’s crazy to me that a government run site shares resemblance with booking a Beyonce ticket. It makes it even more apparent that students are at the mercy of resellers and have to take unnecessary/avoidable lessons so we don’t forget in the long winded frame. I HATE THIS SO MUCH! Thinking on it, even the gov.uk next steps to help students book tests and reduce the gap is ridiculous. I personally suggest unique links should be sent to students to access the sites when they pass their theories should be looked into it. It shouldn’t be this easy for people who have no business getting tests being able to buy them and sell them under company aliases.

COULD and SHOULD be doing better

You have had 5 years since 2020 to sort out the lack of instructors and your website booking system and the fraud whereby tests are being bought and sold for profit - the inability to do so indicates one of two things EITHER an incompetence of almost mythical standard or a deliberate policy to keep new drivers from the road. I have a 23 year old who should be working, but employers need to knew he can get to them - our rural bus service is expensive takes hours and is notoriously unreliable. I now note, in yet another cynical money making exercise you have shortened the window to postpone a test without being charged to stop student "who aren't ready" WE are booking 6 months in advance for test centres we DONT Want because that's the only way to get the vaguest chance of a test in Greenham or READING, we currently have CARDIFF in June booked - we have never been to Cardiff but there is no facility to say give me your next dates for where I want.... An ability even my beautician has! My son is in the spectrum took his first test in Winchester, a town we don't know, in 2024,then waited 6 months for December Greenham test, which you postponed finally taking and failing in January. I knew his anxiety over how important it was to pass for his freedom and quality of life due to the delays was going to potentially make failing more likely. Despite saying he had a stammer the instructor during show me tell me heed him on "carry on, carry on" when his words got stuck ABSOLUTELY THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO TO SOMEONE WITH A STAMMER.
His theory test is due to run out in September, another cash cow for you. If you ARE attempting to get staff, which I doubt, your inability to do so indicates one of two things insufficient pay or a bad work environment BOTH ARE WITHIN YOUR REMIT TO RESOLVE - it's a shame you don't put as much effort into rectifying this inexcusable situation as you do into the puerile regular emails about how to pass....not waiting months and taking it in his local area on roads he knows would help massively.

I am and continue to be incandescent…

I am and continue to be incandescent with rage. Took my driving test at Gillingham test centre on 26.2.25. I failed coming out of the centre, as my Instructor put his foot on the dual control pedals telling me I was entering the road without the requisite observations. It went down-hill from there and I should have secured the car and got out and cancelled the test because my examiner had decided on that immediately, (fulfills their quota for the day). I am aware that they are not your friends but being rude and aloof will adversely affect your confidence, AND guess what, when called for my test 4 white men came out, Where's the diversity in that? I also believe there is a degree of ageism going on and this should also be addressed. Furthermore, I wouldn't choose to drive in Gillingham as the roads are atrocious. How are you to keep full control of car if the road is full of pot holes. Due to financial exploitation, which HMG has not addressed, regarding the selling of tests, I was forced to take test in Gillingham. I live in London. So I think that's the end of my journey. I could have purchased a BMW for the money I have spent for this privilege over the years. Hopefully I will drive without a licence in the coming war because the powers that be will be too busy fighting the war. So overall, my score is very low as it represents my distaste with the examining process and its many flaws. Lastly a very positive 10 out of 10 to my instructor. You know who you are. Pip

Hello everyone

Hello everyone, they don't even deserve one star⭐✍🏼 but Trustpilot condition is,

🚨👎🏼 I don't advise anyone who worked hard to save their money on the test here, because you are wasting your money, 💸🕛 time and dream 💔,
I am a Class 2 truck driver 🚚 and thank God I am skilled and I drive all over the country, but I failed twice with them, in the Class 1 truck, 😒
I hope that in the future the evaluation will be with 🤖 automated technology, better than humans, a person may be angry at home in the evening and fail the trainees in the morning 🤬 or he doesn't like the way the driver looks so he fails too, depending on his mood 🤨

💬 Finally, I advise choosing places far from Birmingham.
Damn them, my money 💸&💔

Test at Crewe with Ian.

Had my driving test in Crewe with examiner Ian. Was very patient and gave a thorough explanation of the process. Made me feel at ease and was able to treat my test as just another drive. Even had the confidence to have a chat with him while I was at it. Passed with 5 minors and he gave a detailed explanation of where they were made and what I can do to avoid them next time I’m on the road.

The Herne Bay test centre was friendly efficiently and well organised. More importantly my two test instructors on the day were accommodating, friendly, helpful and kind. This made the difference between a confident ride. Wayne and Nigel are both a credit to the DVSA service and both truly professional test instructors. Thank you once again for a great test experience which lead to a successful motorcycle test outcome and positive learning experience. Grateful

Alnwick

I passed my driving test today. The driving examiner Leon is a complete professional. He made me feel at ease from the beginning of the test to the end. He tested me on the maneuvers, asked me the questions and took me through the test with such ease that my initial nervous state was calmed. He really deserves more than 5 stars.

DVSA RESOLVE THIS RIDICULOUS BOOKING…

DVSA RESOLVE THIS RIDICULOUS BOOKING SYSTEM NOW!
I can't imagine the pressure learner drivers are having to go through currently!.
- The pressure of passing the theory test with an expiry date of 2 years
- The pressure of learning to drive while paying an instructor with no date in sight to book the test - financial pressure!.
- The pressure of checking DVSA website every day/night with absolutely no available dates near my area for over 2 years!!!!.
- The pressure of attending the driving test and having it cancelled/ rescheduled to a future date (seriously! 😳).
It's just pathetic. My daughter has been learning to drive (paid and personal lessons) for over 5 months now, and I'm just concerned that every day brings her closer to the expiry date to redo her theory test again + she heads to Uni in September.

My suggestions are:
- An overhaul/ standardising the overall process of DVSA.
- Temporarily extend the deadline after passing the theory test from 2 years to 3 years, to reduce added pressure.
- Stop offering theory tests temporarily, until the supposed 'backlog' for pratical tests are cleared up! (Stop using Covid as an excuse!).

Henry. Best driving examiner

I had my driving test at Erith and I was really lucky to get Henry as my examiner. He made me comfortable since the beginning of my test. He sensed that I was nervous and he calmed me down. He was really professional and the instructions he gave were clear and straightforward.

If you get Henry as your examiner, you will feel a sense of calm as soon as he introduces himself to you. That helps a lot in controlling your nerves and building confidence. Thank you, Henry, for making my driving test a good experience.
