DYLON / HENKEL should be ashamed of themselves…..….

DYLON; avoid this company and their products at all costs! I dyed 2 brand new cream throws in “Sandy beige” and they ended up with purple and blue speckles in patches all over them. After completing their very long form and sending them lots of photos and 28, YES 28 emails … 13 months later, I STILL haven’t had a response… they are now totally ignoring me. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING COMPANY. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

50 years of using Dylon just came to an abrupt end!

I have been using Dylon since the days of the little tin that you had to picture with a knife!! 50 years?
Now they sell the plastic pod so I bought 2.
One was sea blue and everything I dyed was pretty even - except a T shirt with a dark speck on the front! The second was denim blue - used for years for towels etc.
Disaster! EVERYTHING is uneven, speckled and the white washed pur cotton is like a tye dye!!
From reviews, it looks like some colours are the problem.
I loved the big sachets that you put in drum before dry articles. I do not want a piece of plastic to throw away that destroys my clothes!
Will now see what response I get to my complaint.

Very bad service and product.

Very bad service and product.

We bought 2 black die to do our curtains and it didn't work.
The Dylon Die for washing machine is a scam and doesn't work.
We have complaint to the company and requested a refund but they refused to do so.

Avoid then.

Rubbish product (Black dye pod).

Rubbish product (Black dye pod).

Did nothing to improve or enhance any of the black items washed, infact the only thing it did dye was the washing machine rubber seal!

Dont waste your money, £6,50 i will never get back!

Bought the Dylon Dark plum machine dye…

Bought the Dylon Dark plum machine dye and stuck a TK Maxx bargain ecru chore coat in the drum, along with a grim grey green stetson cap. Did a bit of googling, noted that the stiching would retain it's original(ish) colour. Spot on if so. Result: A triumph. Jacket has a consistent colour, stitching as hoped for. The cap, considerably better than when it went in. Jacket and Dye all in £15, colour me happy.

Used a Dylan dye in my washing machine

Used a Dylan dye in my washing machine. Worked fairly well, the thread in the item didn’t change colour. The biggest problem is that even a week on, after numerous attempts at cleaning my washing machine, including a bleach wash, a Dettol washing machine cleaner wash and a Dr Beckmann Deep Clean W M wash, and wiping all rubber seals between every wash, my washing is still getting ruined by dye remnants. Avoid at all costs.

Wow wow wow !! Super happy

Wow wow wow
Didn’t think this would work honestly.
I’ve been dying to decorate my bathroom but with the cost of living crisis every spare penny is going on the household bills
I couldn’t afford new towels and was getting severely embarrassed at the state of my faded towels
So I thought I’d try machine Dylon
I followed the instructions to the letter an added salt too and look at the difference in my pictures they look brand new again !!
And it didn’t stain my washing either just an empty wash and a wipe down and not a whisper of dye left
Thank you Dylon !!

Ruined my jumpsuit, Dylon ignoring my emails

I used the washing maching dye and it absolutely ruined my jumpsuit. It left speckles of darker dye in 2 large areas on the front of the legs. I contacted Dylon who were helpful to start with, then when they asked for more photo's and information I sent them as asked, Emma blanked me and didn't reply. I sent Emma another email asking what was happening about my claim, again absolutely NO response at all.. I am disgusted and defintely wouldn't recommend. Avoid at all costs. This company don't care about their customers at all.

Sadly I am another victim of Dylon Fabric Dyes….wish I had of seen the reviews first!
Attempted to dye a linen dress. Washed the dress, followed all the instructions - ended up with a disaster and a dress that cannot be worn.
I have no idea what or how to fix the problem.

Disgusted with Dylon experience

I just used an olive green all in one pod to dye a white cotton dress and under-slip. I’m so disappointed with the results. My dress and slip are covered in tiny navy blue specks. I followed the instructions to the letter, used a long cotton setting I have dyed many clothes before using Dylon machine dye and had excellent results. Never again.

I had to pick a star to leave a review…

I had to pick a star to leave a review but it deserves nothing!
Picked intense grey to dye my white towels since they were already grey! I can't even describe what came out. Some are grey, yes but with splashes of navy and dark pink! Basically what i thought would give my towels a bit of extra life turned them into something that I would on use for my dog, too bad we don't have one! Never again!
It's not even proper grey it's more like a dirty blue! Oh well .. New towels it is!

Intense black hand dye turns out blue on 100% cotton

I used the intense black hand dye to dye a pair of pale denim jeans and a white denim jacket. I was hoping for a dark grey finish rather than black. I followed the instructions to the letter and both garments turned out blue without a hint of grey. I was really disappointed and contacted Dylon customer service in case there was an issue with the batch. I answered lots of questions about the process I followed and then was told I hadn’t used the right temperature because I used water from the hot tap. Very disappointing and frustrating. I don’t recommend.

Dylon machine wash dye doesnt work.

Dylon machine wash dye doesnt work.
I used the Plum dye which is definitely darker than my garment, and the trousers have emerged exactly the same colour.
I followed all instructions.
My trousers are 100% cotton with no special finish.
This dye is expensive.
I'd like a refund.

Beautiful colours, great result on 100% cotton items

NOTE: I don't know why the title is showing unhappy customer, I wrote something different.

I bought a really beautiful white shirt dress but unfortunately it was a bit see-through. I love the fit of it so much that I decided to give the Dylon /washing Machine Pod a go, and went for navy blue. It came out a pretty, vibrant navy blue and I was so pleased that I ordered another capsule in forest green to dye a stained cream top. The colours both came out so beautifully and I will definitely be using these again in future. I will note that the threads were synthetic so they have remained white, but I think the contrast stitching makes the items look unique and more expensive.

I did an experiment when I did the second dye and included a very beat-up hoodie that's a cotton blend. It has actually come out in a really interesting pattern (the hem which must be all cotton is solid and the rest is a washed out green), but shows the problem that some people seem to have reported. This product will only work with natural materials (listed on the packaging); it takes wonderfully to 100% cotton. The other issue might be overloading. I played it safe and did very small loads (1 or items).

It does use a lot of water and is a time-consuming process as you have to wash the clothing item first, then run with dye, then wash the clothes, then run the machine to rinse. I would suggest running machine cleaner after so that the empty wash serves a purpose.

There was zero mess (something I was concerned about) and the few traces of dye that were left on and under the seal I was able to easily wipe away with bleach (I did this after taking the clothes out and before running it empty).

If using the dye make sure:

1. Your item is 100% cotton, linen, or viscose
2. Bear in mind that threads are usually synthetic so they will remain the original colour
3. Set out enough time to do everything (you'll likely be running the machine for half a day)
4. Check the weight of the clothing (if the item is really special I would play it safe and just dye it alone)
5. Use bleach to clean the machine seal immediately after taking clothes out
6. Extra note: if you're dying a new item you still need to wash it first

Completely destroyed my gorgeous bedding

I'm devastated. I purchased Smoke Grey (pods). I dyed a John Lewis 400 thread count 100% cotton white king-size duvet cover. It weighed 1.2kg so used two pods emptied straight into the drum as per the instructions, having washed the fabric first. I followed the instructions to the letter and when I finally removed the duvet cover from the washing machine it was completely ruined. There are dark black spots and marks, patchy blue stains, purple patches, and completely uneven coverage. I looked on Trust Pilot and 84% of the reviews are 1 star, mentioning exactly the problems I've had. This product shouldn't be on sale, it has completely ruined my duvet cover which was gorgeous quality and only a couple of years old, I simply wanted to change the colour to suit a newly decorated room. Avoid this unless it's something of no value to you or you want your stuff to look like a decorator's dust sheet.

Very disappointed in this product and…

Very disappointed in this product and company! Paid £5 for the wash and dye intense black to dye some white curtains I followed the instructions, and my white curtains are now ruined! Came out a scruffy looking grey with a pink tinge! Turns out my curtains are 100% polyester (I didn’t know this as the label had faded with ironing) so yes I took a chance but my issue is, that there is no clear warning on the packaging that states this product will not only not work with polyester but can/will damage them, as the product has left my curtains a horrible colour that is permanent, and can’t be removed and when I contacted Dylon to complain they wouldn’t even offer me a refund on the £5 I spent on the dye! I now have to buy new curtains at £40 and I’m also out £5! There needs to be a clear warning on the packet to state that this product can damage items if they are polyester! It’s does not state this at all, just says product won’t work on polyester! I also found the helpline staff unsympathetic and argumentative and will not be using Dylon products ever again!
