Got a Gen 5 detect about 9 months ago
Got a Gen 5 detect about 9 months ago, the Motorhead/Torque disintegrated while vacuuming. Called costumer service. They immediately sent a spare part, the same day. The same issue (Torque broke in the same exact place) happened to my mom's Gen 5 detect, also under warranty as a year old. Costumer Service was awful. They said the plastic parts aren't under warranty (but why were they 5 days earlier?) they wanted a video session to see if indeed anything was broken, to trouble shoot they said. Yeah right. And a video session, really?? After an hour on the phone plus video session they will not send the spare part as not covered by warranty. So what is under warranty? Nothing?? Does this make any sense at all? Also these, machines are $1000 and they break all the time? Horrible quality, horrendous customer service. Avoid Dyson like the plague.

Initially was shipped the wrong model, no customer service, very poor instructions!
Initially received the wrong model, after completely unpackaging the unit looking for the 2nd battery pack that was supposed to be included, discovered it was the wrong model. Had to re-box and return for a refund. The instructions (in 12 languages) has pictures to guide you through the parts and pieces, unfortunately there is no text that follows the pictures i.e. (after you make it through the 8 steps of assembling the wall mount /charger the last step is a picture with a clock face showing 4.5 hours, No explanation of whether this is for the first use or a normal recharge, do I need to make sure I unplug the charger after 4.5 hours or is it automatic, what about the charge indicators on the battery pack? Dyson spent a fortune on packaging including a tissue paper skin on the Quick Start Guide that you have to rip open and discard to get to the fold out card. There is enough cardboard and tissue paper in the packing to house two industrial vacuum cleaners. I they would have spent a little more time to review their content maybe they would have more time to answer their customer service line.

Bought a $69 lithium replacement…
Bought a $69 lithium replacement battery for my DC56 hand held vacuum. When it arrived, it was marked "manufactured in November 2014". Lithium degrades over time, regardless of whether it is used (cycled) or not. Customer service took nearly an hour....India first, then Central America. In the end they offered a 30% reduction in price. Great product, but very poor after sales support.
Incompetent Customer Service
I have a Dyson fan heater which stopped oscillating. I called customer and told the agent the model number and the problem. The agent said I had to take it to the Paramus, NJ service center. She also gave me the wrong business hours and days for the service center. I brought it to the service center. As I was holding it in plain view of the technician, she made me fill out all the information to check in, then asked me what the problem was. She immediately responded "that is discontinued and we don't service them anymore." Why she didn't say that when she saw it in my hand when I came in, I don't know or understand. I told her that when I called I gave the agent all the information on the fan, and the agent told me to bring it in for repair, and did not say that Dyson no longer services this model. She replied that I was speaking with a call center and it wasn't her problem. I messaged Dyson on Instagram to explain the problem. They told me that they could repair it, but I had to call the foreign service center again to arrange to send the fan to them. I called support team as instructed, and once again got an incompetent person in a foreign call center. That person put me on hold three times during the course of the call and finally sent me a shipping label for the return. I opened the label after the call was terminated and discovered that it was addressed FROM me and TO me! So, I called again to get a new label. Once I received the label, I purchased a box at my own expense because Dyson did not tell me that UPS would provide a box a shipping material. I sent the fan in on Monday and just got a call from Dyson today. I was told that since they no longer make the model, they do not have the parts to repair it AND I SHOULD HAVE NOT HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED ME TO SEND THE FAN IN FOR REPAIR! I was also told that as a Dyson owner I would get a 20% discount on future purchases. Considering this horrendous customer service, I do not intend to purchase any further Dyson products, and the offered discount is meaningless. Dyson should at the very least reimburse me for the packing expenses they needless had me incur, and if customer service was really good, I should be sent a new fan.
Premium price without premium…
Premium price without premium reliability. In my experience, overpriced Dyson products didn’t outlast cheap Chinese “copies”/alternatives—quite the opposite. Support feels scripted and lacks transparency on parts, timelines, and escalation. I expected better for this price point.
Short Lifespan and Bad Service
Purchased an expensive Dyson cordless vacuum that came with a 2 year warranty. 1.5 years later the vacuum no longer turns on (and truthfully was never superior to other vacuums, so I’d hoped the value would come in longevity). However, when I tried to use my warranty they said that it had been changed to 1 year so my best bet was to buy a brand new one. Why bother buying an expensive vacuum when it doesn’t work better or last longer? Wont be buying again and would not recommend to anyone else either.

Dyson has since sent 2 units to replace the original. It is now September 2025 and the device is dead again.
So we’re talking 3 units stoped working the exact same way and we barely even use it as I have a roomba clearly this unit is defective and Dyson won’t replace it again. Shame on Dyson a $600 vacuum can’t make it past 9 months.

I have a Dyson V8 animal
I have a Dyson V8 animal. I bought it just for the main floor hardwood so I didn’t have to lug a big corded vacuum upstairs. After 3 years of once a week vacuuming 900 sq feet, it won’t even hold a charge to vacuum the kitchen floor. Customer service is horrible and the warranty, for the price you pay for a Dyson is beyond horrible. Do not buy a Dyson. It’s not worth the price or the frustration.
Disappointing experience with Dyson’s durability and customer service
I'm extremely disappointed with my Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, which cost over $300. Despite being a lightly used machine, it stopped working shortly after the 2-year warranty expired. I reached out to Dyson's customer service, hoping they'd understand that a product of this caliber should last longer. Instead, they brushed off my complaint, stating the warranty had expired and offering a repair option. After sending it in, they deemed it "unfixable" and offered a 20% discount on a new machine.
This experience raises serious concerns about Dyson's product durability. What's even more alarming is that my daughter had a similar experience with her Dyson Airwrap ($600 machine!). It stopped working just days shy of warranty expiration, and although they replaced it, the new one failed a few months after its warranty expired. It's hard not to wonder if these products are designed to have a limited lifespan.
The cherry on top? Dyson never returned my "unfixable" machine, despite repeated requests. This lack of accountability is concerning.
In contrast, I found a similar product on Amazon that uses the same airflow technology, costs $40, and comes with a 2-year warranty. If it stops working after two years, I won't be as invested (financially or emotionally).
*Buyer beware:* If you're considering a Dyson product, be aware that you might be paying a premium for a machine that's not built to last. Their business model seems to rely on frequent replacements rather than quality products.

Order Canceled Without Notice or Explanation
I placed an order with Dyson on 8/21/25, which was canceled without any notification. I only found out (8/28/25) by checking my account. I then contacted Dyson customer service, but they gave me no explanation for the cancellation and offered no solution.
For a company with Dyson’s reputation, I expected at least clear communication and a reason for canceling my order. This has been a very disappointing experience and makes me question the reliability of ordering directly from Dyson. I will not place an order again!
Worst Customer Service Ever Experienced

The amount of frustration, lack of communication and understanding from this company is insane.
I placed an order in 2024 for an air wrap and I was sent a different machine. I had to wait for a return label to return the incorrect machine and wait till they received it to receive the one I paid for. I received the correct machine and have had it for a year now and started having issues with it turning off seconds after I turn it on. I reached out and they are now telling me I received a refund (their error) because I returned the machine they sent me that was incorrect like I was told.
This has been ongoing for three weeks now.
I have checked my bank statements and I never received a refund.
Now after being told by more than one “supervisor” I would be getting a new machine because I am still within warranty and the speciality team approved of it I am now being told I cannot receive anything because I was refunded.
I have not received any refund, any emails regarding refund, nothing.
These people are crooks and scammers.
They record calls yet don’t actually care because they lie on them.
I have recorded every call from them and screenshotted each chat conversation I have had with them and sent them directly to my attorney.
If you are reading reviews before purchasing from this company do yourself a favor and don’t.
TERRIBLE. would never recommend
I got my dyson as a gift on May 7th of 2023. On April 30th 2025, they received my dyson to fix/replace the blowdryer within my timeline of the warranty. I didn’t RECEIVE the device until JULY 1st of 2025… They gave me a DEFECTIVE replacement.
The customer service, absolutely horrendous. They promised me phone calls & emails and I received NOTHING. I had to go out of my way 10+ times to contact them in order to 1. get my blow dryer. 2. complain that they gave me a defective product which ended with them saying “since we replaced it after you gave it to us in your warranty, we can’t give you a new one even if it is defective”. The representative would even allow me to talk to a higher up.
It started of with a confusion of whose account it was on due to it being a gift, we switched it over to my account after giving the customer service representative accurate information. They WITHHELD the dryer because it never transferred over. As a hairstylist, this affected my business NEGATIVELY.
I STILL am unable to even log into my account as they turned it off. They won’t replace the defective device they have given me, even though it’s stated in their website that they would replace any device with a perfectly functioning machine. I WILL NEVER buy a dyson product or recommend it to anyone. If I pay $500 for a dryer, it needs to last a long period of time. I paid for a product that is broken, and a horrible product. Dyson, you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself.

If there was an option to leave 0 stars I would. I ordered the air wrap the day or day after it released from the Dyson website directly. I received an order confirmation and info letting me know I could expect it within a week. However, I never received any tracking updates etc. I gave it a week and called for them to tell me that sorry the item was not in stock and they were unsure when it would be back in. Basically the only explanation I got. A few days passed and I received an email informing me I could keep my order open or cancel. I responded as it instructed that I would just keep my order open - only to receive an email from them later that afternoon letting me know they cancelled my order. So I opened a chat for them to tell me now it was problem with American Express - which they claim to accept but the item still wasn’t in stock.
So I’m irritated - but then I get an email informing me the item is back in stock. So I go online and replace it and receive a confirmation - only for them to send me an email the following day informing me they cancelled my order again. 0/10 recommend.
Terrible Customer Service
Dyson Customer Service is terrible. I contacted Dyson regarding a new fan I purchased on Amazon. The fan I received was the wrong fan and it was used. Dyson agreed to exchange the fan for a new model and the correct model. After several exchanges with a number of customer service reps (never the same rep since they refuse to provide contact information), I learned that Dyson now refuses to exchange for the correct fan AND they will not return the fan I sent to Dyson. Each exchange requires submission of information I previously provided and ends with a promise to get back to me in 1-3 business days. After 5 business days I call for an update and start over. It is difficult to understand how they rationalize holding a fan hostage!
Bad Customer Service. No order follow through.
On July 29th I worked with a Dyson agent on the phone to order a replacement hose for my upright vacuum. Order was place and nothing happened. They even took my CC information. Nine days later I had to call to find out where my part was. The new agent Brian told me that something must have gone wrong and the order was cancelled. Well, Dyson did not let me know. So then the excused continued..."there were too many names on the account and perhaps that information did not match the CC. The CC did not go through because it had the wrong billing address ( which he checked... it was correct)." So all in all I had to go through the ordering process again. Brian was unable to see the way it was going to be shipped or the confirmation number! The supervisor I asked to speak to told Brian he could do nothing different to help. The customer service is lacking and I will do everything in my power not to deal with Dyson.com ever again. I will have to travel to Centennial CO and visit the Dyson Store there, 250 miles away from me. They have always been wonderful to deal with. Too bad they have no back up from Dyson US!
Convenient cleaning solution
Just bought my new vacuum cleaner and I'm seriosly impressed. It has excellent suction power and picks up doest efficiently. The attachments are handy and assembly is simple. Overall its a fantastic upgrade
Bad product vacuum cleaner
Dyson vacuum cleaner-Floor cleaning head interal pipe broken. Part costing aed.630 which is almost half the price of the new vacuum machine. Within one and half year this is broken. Very bad product not worthy as per the price. Better to buy normal vacuum which you can change every 4 to 5 years can buy 8 of these which means 30 years needed to cover cost of one vacuum cleaner of Dyson.Choice is yours. And customer care is next level send a very casual reply and funny part is that they still think that I should trust them in future to buy their products. I wish those who are thinking to buy any of Dyson machine " best of Luck". This is purely my experience which honestly sharing. Think wisely before buy any Dyson machine.

I tried to order a vacuum through the website. They processed the payment and charged my credit card. Then 2 days later cancelled the order. When I tried to reorder they refused to give it to me at the same price as it wasn't on sale any longer. They blamed my credit card as the issue. I called my credit card and they said that the purchase was approved and Dyson cancelled the charge. I noticed the item back on sale so I re-ordered. The same thing happened again. Again they blamed the credit card company saying they don't have the power to reverse a charge or cancel an order. That makes no sense simply because they have the money back guarantee. Waste of time. What a terrible company. I feel maybe it is for the best as I would hate to deal with these liars for any type of a return for a faulty product.
