Always amazing food
Always amazing food.
I've been to a couple of different Eat Tokyo branches and always had amazing food and good service. The quality of the sushi is excellent, and the pork katsu curry is amazing. The large version is astounding!
The price is very reasonable as well, and I always leave full, satisfied and happy.
Tried the lobster sushi at the Soho branch last weekend and was amazed at how delicious it was.
Cold! 45 mins wait! Not going back sorry
I went yesterday evening (Thursday), to the Covent Garden branch. I had called a to book a table but was told they don’t accept bookings. When I got there they hade the sign “reserved” on a table though!
We sat upstairs and it was freezing cold! The air con was so chilly that we all had to put our jackets in, the food arrived after 45 minutes, we left with stomach ache and this morning I have a stiff painful neck due to the air con.
No apologies nor discount or anything for the delay or the cold. We were 6 and we had to pay 2by2 as they don’t split the bill on more than 3 cards.
The sushi has become smaller or maybe ours because they forgot about it. As everywhere the prices went up.
The Hammersmith branch
The Hammersmith branch: Rude and mean staff. The female manger is the worst. Today she even put a barrier in front of the entrance, she made the customers not feeling welcome.
Food and quality have gone down hill since after Covid. And it is getting worst every time I went there. The tempura is not crispy, rice is lukewarm. Deep fry tufu is cold, mussels are over cooked. And the portion also become smaller.
Being a frequent customer for many years, sad to say that I won’t return.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ATTITUDE OF…
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE ATTITUDE OF THE WAITER.
I had lunch here today. When the soup from the bento arrived, I requested for a soup spoon because I would like to drink my soup with a spoon. The waiter immediately shut me down with, you don’t need a spoon, you drink it as it is from the bowl.
Just a very simple, ‘Sure’ would have been sufficed. There is no need to patronise on how I enjoy my food.
NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE OVERALL
We would like to complain for the…
We would like to complain for the reception staff, who claimed that she was the shop manager. We booked a table at 6pm, and there was a empty table. She rejected to give the table to us with bad attitude, and she insisted to give the table to someone reserved at 6:30pm with bad attitude, and asked us to leave.
We will never go to this restaurant again due to her bad attitude.
Bad service, dropping in quality. Needs a better system whenever it's busy.
I made a reservation for 4 people to eat in the restaurant at 17:00 to avoid the long waiting time this restaurant suffers from.
We arrived at the place 10 or 15 minutes prior to the reservation, they already had a line of people waiting outside and a host coming in and checking how many people were coming in. First thing I did was to go quickly inside the restaurant and tell them that I had a reservation and I was told to wait outside opposite side of the line. Said host that comes in and out was shouting at us that we had to get in line, and all times had to tell him that we had a reservation. It was not untill the fourth time he was coming out that I had to tell him that we had a reservation, when he finally decided to check a list he had, then told us to wait.
We entered the restaurant 17:07, not bad for waiting considering how busy it was. Restaurant was also busy inside.
After being seated and handed out the menus, we were served quickly, usually works like that inside the restaurant. We ordered some plates of sushi and some bento boxes that comes with miso soup and some drinks.
Glasses for drinks were badly cleaned and had dead bugs inside, when we called the attention of one of the waiters they looked at us weirdly but agreed to change the drinks. I'm not sure if they just threw the drinks away and gave the glasses a quick water clean or they actually cleaned properly.
Then the sushi plates that we ordered came, and one of them came with few bugs crawling around the plate around and over the food. Again, we called the attention of the waiter and they literally took the plate and removed the bugs with their fingers. Then we asked if the plate could be removed, so the waiter took it behind the counter and I kept an eye, what they did was just take the sushi out of the plate, shake the plate, and put back the same sushi on the plate. We kindly asked, and believe me when I say kindly, that when the plate was brought back if they could make a new one, but we were told that if we wanted a new one we would have to pay again, because that's a new order. The plate was also not removed from the bill, witch really baffled me.
Anyways, the rest of the food came and this restaurant is loosing a lot in quality. Miso soup included in the bento boxes was cold. Then the fried salmon and chicken from all of the bento boxes was cold. The sushi pieces inside the bento box were badly done and the raw fish tasted odd.
I used ti be a regular of this restaurant, specifically this branch, but the quality is dropping a lot. Staff is most times rude and inattentive, rushing you to order as soon as you can and handing in the bill as soon as they see that you finished with your food.
They don't have a system in place for their bookings, witch really doesn't help the experience.
The place where I keep going is they're new branch in Bond Street. It's more focused on ramen, but they also have sushi and other plates. Staff is always smiling, nice and very caring, we have visited them in several occasions, even with our baby and they're always very playful with her and asking us if we always need anything for her, water or any extras for our little one.
Really disappointed with the Soho branch, haven't come back to them and probably will never do.
Kudos to the restaurant and team in Bond Street.
Got food poisoning
Had a tuna with rice bento last Saturday at Soho branch and got food poisoning after 6 hours, with feeling chilly, vomiting and diarrhea. Won't go there again.
Rude staff that don’t care
Rude staff that don’t care. The reviews on this restuarant says enough, Bond Street branch couldn’t care less about the customer
Really good food but service could improve
Really good food and good price. But the service could be better. I have been to Eat Tokyo many times, and at different branches. Yet, every time, the staff takes too long to serve and are not that friendly.
ZERO STARS
If i could give this no stars then I would. Ordered some pork dish as seen in the picture and it was the most DISGUSTING dish I've EVER had. It stunk and tasted as if the pork was unclean and the amount of sodium was enough to last me for 10 years worth of required sodium intake. I literally had to drink 3 cans of coke to regulate the salty dish and I can NEVER recommend this dish at all. It was appalling and hideously smelly. The waitress on the other hand (small lady) was also as grumpy as the dish and didn't look as if she cared at all. On the other hand my friends dishes were ok but I'm guessing it's because my one tasted and looked like s#*t! I DO NOT recommend this place. The prices are cheap and there's a reason for that. The picture doesn't give any justice...I guess it's Samsungs camera that magically filters and blurs out any crap. Nasty food and nasty place. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Such bad customer service
Such bad customer service, the waiters were very rude
Soho branch
Extremely disappointed since Eat Tokyo is a Japanese owned restaurant but I can say the Ramen is not Japanese style in fact. I never have had Japanese Ramen with “Chashu” as awful like this branch. I can say this is a Chinese roasted pork belly (no matter outlook or taste) instead of Japanese Chashu. And the Ajitsuke Tamago (Ramen Egg) is awful too. Reman egg should be marinated in soy sauce but it just a boiled egg and overcook as well.
Sushi quality was not worse, but I will not comment it’s delicious.
Service is horrible, rude and slow.
Great little place & big portions
Great little place & big portions
Had to wait alittle but the quality and price was great value and decent quality, well worth it.
This is truly authentic Japanese Food.
I eat a lot of Japanese Food. But OMG this place is the best I have tried!
Don't change a thing. The small basic layout and open kitchen is great ad adds to the experience.
This is truly authentic Japanese Food.
The waiting time is ridiculous!!
The waiting time is ridiculous!!! They let big groups in ahead instead of small groups that queued sooner! They don’t update customers as to how long we have to wait. If it weren’t for the food, I won’t come back to this restaurant ever again.
Went to Eat Tokyo Soho
Went to Eat Tokyo Soho. Food is amazing however they make customers wait in the queue for so long! Been waiting for more than an hour. There were 3 of us but they prioritise more people even though they recently joined the queue. Groups of 4 or 5 were sent in ahead which I think is unfair for those who waited longer. There are 3 of us and we could’ve been accommodated in the table with 4 seats but they don’t want to sacrifice a seat and called in the ones who recently arrived since there were 4 of them. This isn’t an isolated case. This happens all the time and I think the management could do better to make it fair for the customers.
Great food and service - Hammersmith
Great food and service, keep up the good work guys !!
Soho branch 11/10/2021
Soho branch 11/10/2021
I am a regular here and normally it’s very smooth and customer service is good. Today while I was eating with my friend I witnessed the worst customer service I have ever come across. The waitress who was wearing the green dress caused a unnecessary scene arguing with a customer over a dish she found too spicy which I did hear her mention too the girl taking the order that she can’t eat spicy food. The arguing made us very uncomfortable during our meal and I believe the situation could of been handled in a much more professional way. I heard her saying very loudly "so is this my problem or your problem?" Very unprofessional. She had to be pulled away from another staff member. Won’t be coming to this branch again after today.
Food is good but no effort to Recycle
I get takeout at Eat Tokyo Notting Hill, once a week. The food is good but they don't make any effort to recycle. Every time I call, I tell them not to include napkins or chopsticks. Last Sunday, they gave me 20 napkins and extra chopsticks which I returned and they threw in the garbage. They serve food in black containers which can't be recycled. I am not getting takeout there anymore. I can't support a restaurant that does not care about the planet
