Ecar insurance is out to make money at all cost.

I have taken my car insurance from this company since April 2015. I believe that this company gives the impression to be reasonable and value for money. They will take your money and then will try to catch customers on simple mistakes, which they should have vetted and spotted before they agree to take the customer on. This company seems to blackmail customers with cancellation threats and may be even to blacklist customers with the insurance industry in return for further unreasonable premium. This company seems to abuse customers with threats of cancellation, knowing the stress that customers will have to find another company after cancellation of insurance by them. It's a pity that so far they've been able to survive and as it seems there is no regulators to bring them to account. I believe that all those who have had bad experience with this company should get together and take swift action against them. They priced their telephone call at a high premium so that either to deter customers to complain with them over telephone or simply to make easy money form customers bring playing ' delaying tactics' I wish that there is a much better way to warn potential customers against this company. STAY AWAY FROM ECAR>

Brightside (ecar insurance) via Compare the Market.com

Avoid this company at all costs - you may be quoted their cheap rates via Compare the Market.com but they are uncontactable on all of the many numbers they provide. If you need to make any changes to your policy or make a claim there is no one who will answer the phone - emails refer you to the website which will allow you to enter your information and then throw you out of the site - the fax number doesnt receive faxes.
This is the worst company we have ever dealt with for customer service which is non existant and the only part of the process that appears to be in full working order is the taking of the payment! Compare the Market clearly dont research the companies that they offer and are linking people to very substandard insurance companies - they are obviously receiving their fee and so their job is done.
Avoid this company at all costs. This is legal robbery!

shouldn't be allowed to trade

This company shouldn't be allowed to trade to the public. After having a non vault accident after a farmer collided into my vehicle while i was park on the side of road. I contacted e car, after 1 hour 13 minutes trying to get through i was rudely cut off. Rang again and finally after 56 minutes i got in touch with the customer services again. Myself and my partner went through a rigorous questioning of our policy formalities and then we both had a three way conference call with the d.v.l.a to confirm our particulars were correct when policy was taken..everything was correct! I put the phone down and was relieved that it was finally put to bed. But no not to be...e car rang me back up and informed me as i will be having a courtesy car i will have to pay a extra premium until they can claim it of the third party insurer after they admit liability. I asked them to explain it to my partner..my partner told them no we are not paying this as we will wait until they admit liability before the car gets fixed or we will take them through the courts to prove their liability. He said, that's Ok but we will get back to you if there is any discrepancies on the policy. By hold the next following day I had an email from e-car stating that as my occupation has changed since I took the policy out and have not informed them of this. They then said the under writing insurance company have raised the price of our policy by £301.40 which doubled our original price. This was a lie as we contacted the under writing company to see if we can get this price reduced! We were told if we do not pay this, the original policy will be cancelled and the claim will be on hold..they had us over a barrel so we had to grit our teeth and pay...One word of advice, stay well clear of this company if you want to keep your money in the bank and be stress free..

worse insurance company ever dealt with!!

The minimum time it takes to get through when you need to speak to them is 1 hour and 13 minutes. They ask you to upload documents to their website which does not work so then you email the documents to them and then they email back with they haven't received them and they've cancelled the policy! And now there's nothing they can/will do. It's absolutely ridiculous nothing but problems!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - SERIOUSLY, DO NOT USE! WARNING.

Legal con artists. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have experienced massive problems with them over the last three months and it has caused nothing but stress.

Terrible customer service, huge phone bills, loss of insurance and no money returned back to me. I payed just under £500 for insurance with them only to receive a letter notifying me of cancellation on the actual day of cancellation. This was despite sending them my driving liscence and NCB at least eight times via all their email options. I was also unable to get hold of any customer support via phone as well as from email. Twice, after a long wait I was led to a dead line resulting in me having to redial the company which again led to no results. CON ARTISTS. I now need to ensure my car with a different organisation. After reading the review of another person on this website I am now concerned that the cost of my insurance will shoot up. This is legal theft so watch out. Review for this company would be well into the minuses but that option is not available so putting down 1 star. Seriously does not deserve 0 star let alone 1. AVOID THE ECAR INSURANCE COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE..

What a joke

Been with them for 3 years, each year I had a mid term price change, this years renewal I had an email with one price, logged on to their site had another price, checked on go compare was another price (all details the same).

Called them up and after holding for over 4 hours over 2 days finally got through. Got a different price off the sales rep, When the paperwork arrived my 7 years no claims had not been protected, even though I had said yes.

After another 3 hours on hold this time (3 attempts) got through only to be told I had to be put through to the cancellation department and redo the quote, put on hold for 45 mins.

I've now gone with another company for my insurance, however I'm still on hold for the past 4 days total 9 hours+ to cancel my policy and get my deposit refunded.

What turned out to be a good experience has turned bad, if you ever need to talk to an advisor then be prepared for a long wait, don't let their cheap prices fool you as you will get a mid term price increase.

Next step is to watchdog.

The WORST car insurance company I've dealt with in 30 years - AVOID

Utterly useless customer service, both via their "automated" service and their call centre. For the third day in a row, I've given up after a 40 minute wait time. I've emailed them 3 times, with NO response. Only giving this 1 star as I don't know how to give them zero.... Appalling! Whatever you do, DO NOT purchase insurance of any kind from this mob.....

Worst customer service

I am having a bad experience with this company. Unfortunately I have taken policy and it has been a nightmare to speak to anybody. I was on the phone for 59 minutes on several occasions, and still nobody answered my call. Once somebody answered after 39 minutes and put me to the correct people adding a driver and that person never answered until 59 minutes and I had to hang up..

I don't know whether I will get the money even if I cancel it.I wrote a complain in their website, and not surprisingly, nobody bothered to reply.

Please...please do not take up insurance with this company. As somebody has mentioned, pay extra 10-20,get it somewhere else

Grim - Impossible to contact them by phone or email

Their ringback service does not work, they NEVER answer the phone and their document validation process is dire & exceptionally slow (I have received threats to cancel my policy as they haven't received my documents despite the fact they were sent and receipt of them acknowledged). I do not know if my documents have now been validated so I don't know if I have a valid policy or if it has been cancelled and I can't get through to them to cancel it if not!
My advice: pay the extra £50 and get you car insurance elsewhere.

Waiting for refund for over a month

In their website they state that after you request to cancel your policy it may take 14 days to process the refund.
I bought an insurance and cancelled 2 days later due to the very bad reputation of the company. It was on 19/06.
After 14 days I called them chasing the refund and they said it 'normally' takes up to 14 days but may take 30 days.
After 30 days I'm calling everyday and the answer is always the same: we apologize and will process your refund in a matter of urgency.
Till now, 22/07, no refund at all.

absolutely shocking company. after trying to make a small change to my policy when it took me 3 hours + of phone calls in which I was hung up on twice, I then decided to cancel the policy which then took another 2 phone calls lasting 2 hours before I got anywhere. please do not use this company as they are an absolute nightmare to contact and deal with. please take your business elsewhere.

3 weeks and still no offer

My car was driven into outside my place of work 3 WEEKS AGO (I wasn't in the car at the time) and due to the other vehicle driving off and having no witnesses, I am having to claim on my own insurance. I was told over the phone that due to the damage caused and where the damage was on my car, it would be a total loss. The car was picked up the following day by the salvage company that ecar use. All well and good...until I call a week later asking why I still hadn't heard anything to be fobbed off with 'there's a backlog' 'should hear by the end of the week'. A week later, still no news so I call again...same excuses as well as 'We'll send out a pre-paid envelope to send us V5 and keys so you have it ready as soon as you get your offer'. It is now 3 weeks and still no pre-paid envelope, STILL NO OFFER!! I rely on having a car to get to my place of work and back each day otherwise it's a £20 round trip in a taxi, 5 days a week!! (Even though you pay for a courtesy car, in the small print it states that you only get said courtesy car should your car be repairable...mine wasn't = no courtesy car). Not to mention my astronomical phone bill due to being charged over £1 a minute every time I call. Just to get through the menu and the shpiel is at least 5-6 minutes and then there's however long you are on hold. Absolute con artists!! DO NOT INSURE WITH THEM!!

cancellation

I took out a car insurance policy with this company 2 weeks ago, sent off all the required documents, the first 2 times with no avail, but finally received an email last week saying that all required information had been received and my insurance was now fully valid.
All good you might think....
BUT NO!!!!
Yesterday after working a 13 hour shift I got home and opened a letter from ecar, dated 5/5/2015 but only received on 12/5/2015, informing me that, due to a discrepancy regarding the dates of a MS90 i had openly declared on the form, namely a typing error on my part when i dated the conviction as 01/03/2013 instead of 03/10/2013, my insurance would be cancelled at midnight on 12/5/2015! the very date i received the letter! as you can imagine i was totally gobsmacked! I tried in vain to contact them which as everybody else on here has stated is almost impossible!
I have tried to obtain insurance elsewhere but I am quickly finding out that the action of ecar cancelling my policy has now resulted in my insurance price going through the roof! It may actually result in me having to give up my car!

I cannot honestly believe that something so petty as an obvious typing error would have such a severe outcome!
Why on earth would they think that I had purposely entered the incorrect dates knowing that I was sending them copies of my licence with the correct dates clearly printed on it! it should have been glaringly obvious that this was a genuine mistake, and an email to inquire about the mistake would have rectified the situation quickly and easily!

And why, considering that all correspondence is supposed to be conducted online, did I not receive an email notifying me of the cancellation of my policy instead of a letter through the post, not arriving until the day the policy was due to be cancelled which resulted in me driving around late at night trying to find somewhere safe off-road to store my car until i can somehow sort this mess out!

I am in total despair at how I have been treated, and I am thinking of contacting the Citizens Advice to find out if anything can be done to resolve this!
Any other suggestions would be gratefully received!
