The quality of the insulation is very…
The quality of the insulation is very good, but having used one roll so far, the measurements are on the short side. I ordered four 1.5m x 10m rolls and the first one measured 1.45m x 9.75m. It may not sound much until you work out the area of what is missing.
Also, having made my order on a bank holiday weekend, the company acknowledged receipt on the Tuesday, stating it would arrive the next working day, yet the delivery company did not deliver until Thursday instead of Wednesday, having collected my parcel from the company on the Tuesday.
A lot of wasted money on over-supply not needed
I used the calculator and bought a conservatory roof system. It looks really nice and I am pleased with the finished product, but unhappy that I have 5 complete lengths of hollow board left over (supplied with 12 lengths) and have a complete and unopened insulation pack - the 15sqm was sufficient. This means I must have wasted a lot of money!!
The help videos do not help much with a Victorian style conservatory roof - they are all for a square roof. It's a lot more complicated with a Victorian roof, but fine if you take your time. My 3 email queries were answered quickly, but the answers didn't help a massive amount.
My advice is to buy the basic insulation and then buy all the plastics from Eurocell directly, along with the extra plastic trims (all of the plastics in my order were delivered directly from Eurocell anyway!) and then you can return unused products. Buy the saws, screws and pins from Screwfix. This way, you'll get exactly the same outcome considerably cheaper!
I liked the email support when I raised questions - I always had a quick response and they tried to be helpful, even if the outcome wasn't always that great. A video for fitting into a Victorian conservatory is needed (apparently on the way) and a detailed instruction sheet of paper would have been helpful.

Very quick service and everything arrived as ordered. Biggest complaint is the amount of waste encountered when I used the calculator for working out materials for conservatory inner roof lining. Company did arrange and collect excess full lengths of cladding, but I still have many metres of cut lengths.

OK customer service, poor quality product. Would not buy again or recommend to anyone, poor response to fair criticism
EDIT: In response to the comment left by the company. I was installing this on a Saturday and on a deadline. The companies website clearly states that their office is CLOSED on the weekend. So there was no way I could have contacted them for a replacement. Secondly, i didnt install the product until a few months after buying it, so that has nothing to do with the problems I encountered. Oddly, their response to negative reviews on here seems to follow the same "you should have called us" script, making no allowance for the fact that customers are only ever likely to experience issues during the install of the product. Finally, they say "we do advise that if there is a rip patch, you can patch it with the tape". They dont. Its not anywhere in the instructions. Which any potential customer can see by downloading the instructions direct from EcoTecs website.
This review is specifically about the EcoTec FloorFoam insulation product, sold by EcoHome Insulation.
When looking for a product to meet our very specific needs this one popped up as a suggestion. I had a few really useful conversations with the EcoHome insulation team to ensure this was the right product for the installation methods and the flooring we were using. Delivery was very swift.
Sadly, once we unboxed everything for install, that is where the problems began to occur. I should note that I was very clear with the EcoHome sales team about how I intended to install the insulation and they specifically recommended using plywood as the layer between the foam and our engineered wood flooring.
The problem is that none of the issues I encountered during the install were flagged before we bought the product. Had they have told us about the fragility of the tape, or the fragility of the foil layer on the foam, I would have either adapted my installation methods or gone for an alternative product. Real shame.
I emailed them around 14 days ago and have had no response to my complaint. Having paid £170 for this product and taken a risk on something that does not have a verified U or R value, I am very disappointed in the quality of what I have been supplied with. The fragility of the foil, and the poor quality of the tape severely slowed down the installation time for the flooring, forcing me to pay for an additional day of time with the labourer I was working with.
Notes on issues with the product:
Fragility of the Foam – The foil covering on the foam is unexpectedly fragile and can be easily pierced or torn. This makes the installation of plywood on top of it far more time-consuming than anticipated because you have to be extremely careful not to catch the foam with any edges of the plywood. In comparison, I have used cheaper foil-backed foam in previous parts of the house without encountering this issue. We were extremely careful to keep all sharp objects and shoes away from the foam both during installation and once the installation was complete, yet it still proved to be excessively fragile. With several tears or breaks appearing during the installation. There is no mention on the installation guide or EcoHome website about needing to be aware of this issue and their own brochure pictures show the installers wearing shoes during the install.
Quality of Tape Provided – The tape supplied with the kit is extremely brittle and does not adhere well to surfaces that are not perfectly flat. I was really surprised by how fragile the tape was, given that I was instructed by their sales team to use plywood or OSB as the cover. Additionally, the tape cracks easily if you are using shims to mark out expansion gaps, further complicating the installation process. Shims being a necessary component of any flooring installation to allow for expansion gap measurement.
Tape Edge Protection Requirement – Due to the fragility of the tape, I had to use leftover foam to protect the edges, which should not have been necessary if the tape were of better quality. This added extra steps to the installation process and further increased the overall effort required.

An excellent overall experience
Last year, when I stripped my kitchen out from my early 1900s cottage, I discovered a single brick external wall. I insulated it with YBS Superquilt, thinking that would give me enough u-values only to find it wasn't enough to pass building regulations. This left me rather confused as I had improved on what was originally there. I received very little help from the building regulations department as they do not help in finding you the right product. They only agree on the level of u-values your chosen product will achieve.
On researching the various insulation products available, it confused me even more. I didn't want to take down the plasterboard, battens, and Superquilt due to all the mess it would have made plus the loss of money I had already paid out. I also didn't have the money to involve the help from a builder.
In my research, I came across a company called Ecohome Insulation. I can not thank the technical department enough, I emailed them all the information they needed in regards to what product I had used and how I fitted it. The same day, I received an email informing me of the product I could use to boost the u-values to the required amount. In the email, it broke everything down so I could send this to the building regulations inspector to approve.
The product suggested was the YBS Airtec Double Insulation that is very flexible, lightweight, and easy to fit. It's a highly reflective aluminium foil with an air bubble membrane, which not only reflects 95% of radiant energy it has a high performing vapour control layer. It was easy to cut to size with a good pair of scissors, my stapler finally came in handy, and the Thermaseal Foil Joining Tape was easy to cut and adhered well. I purchased the Airtec Insulation and Tape from Ecohome. Ordering was easy online, and products arrived undamaged and earlier than expected.
I now have a happy building regulations inspector, a vapour barrier to help eliminate condensation but a toasty warm kitchen. All thanks to the technical staff at Ecohome Insulation and the awesome YBS Airtec insulation. I'm extremely happy now, and if I ever need any insulation advice, I will not hesitate to contact Ecohome.
