Don't ever use this company if you value your bank account!!

We called this company last Saturday afternoon when our washing machine started to flood the floor and then, once that was stopped, it wouldn't refill with water at all. As we are completely self-isolating due to being in our mid/late 70's and due to my health, we were very worried and found this company on-line - they stated that they were a family firm, available 24/7 and came within the hour - keeping the 2 metres distance apart. They had asked us for our bank card details before they would come out so I had given it to them. Within moments of getting my details they had taken £210 out of our bank account but it was what they called their "out of hours call-out charge" so we had to accept it! When the plumber came, my husband told him that he was fairly sure it was the water inlet valve that was broken (he's a retired engineer); the plumber agreed and said he would source the replacement part. My husband said that as it was a 5-minute job to fix, he could just pop the part through the letter-box. By Wednesday we had heard nothing, so we phoned them back, they said they would call us back once they had verified the situation. When they finally called us back, they quoted the unbelievable sum of £260 plus VAT. My husband immediately said NO, as it was a beyond ridiculous price. Because of the self-isolating situation, we were unable to buy a new machine as it could not have been delivered beyond the front door; as a result, we started to try to source the part for ourselves and finally located it at Electrolux, who were incredibly helpful and friendly. Wait for it - from them, the price for the valve was £41.99!!!!! Even with express delivery, it was only £49!!! The part just arrived (48hrs) and my husband has just fitted it (5 minutes) and we now have a fully functioning machine. I am so angry, I can't describe it. Imagine if we had been a really elderly couple/person, with no idea of the engineering side of things, we would have ended up paying over £500 for the repair on a machine that we could have replaced - brand new - for less!!!! PLEASE, NEVER, EVER use this firm and tell anyone else you know, the same thing. Thanks for reading this.
