On the downside, I had spoken with travel support prior to our trip. Optional excursions never showed up on our itinerary, and I was told that it was because everything was included in our trip. Shortly before we left, however, we were presented with several optional excursions, all with a fee beyond that which was included in the original price. We chose to participate in most, and enjoyed them immensely, but the one excursion we opted out of we were only able to sit around and wait in a park. These added another $200 or so to what we had already paid. Additionally, adults on the trip paid $500 more that students. I inquired about the upcharge and was told that the higher adult price was because of larger food potions, wine with meals, and higher prices for tickets. While there were likely some higher adult admissions fees, food portions and rooming accommodations were the same for students and adults, and there was only 1 provided meal that offered wine with no additional cost. $500 seems awfully steep for the observed differences.
