Our son enjoyed the tour. He experienced so much during the time spent in Japan and enjoyed every minute. His guide, Aki was wonderful, both kind and knowledgeable.

Our EF Tour to Japan and South Korea was absolutely amazing. Every detail was carefully planned — from the itinerary to the hotels, transportation, and tour guides. We had a perfect balance of cultural experiences and fun activities. The trip exceeded our expectations, and we couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended!

This experience truly changed my life for the better! It was so amazing to learn hands on about the cultural differences and the museums were spectacular! I can't wait for my next trip!

Wonderful glimpse of the advancements in science Japan has made.

Although the tour itself was excellent EFTOURS business ethics are horrible. I was charged an additional $625 for a double occupancy room even though the hotel where the group was staying ONLY offered double occupancy rooms. When I asked for a refund I was given a completely ridiculous reason for why I was charged extra and was not refunded. I would definitely look into other more honest tour groups before going with this organization again.

The tour was great, just wished it was not so rushed and we were able to actually enjoy some of it a little bit more.

This was an outstanding experience for our 12 year old! There was a good balance of supervision and enough free time to allow exploration, taking in some sightseeing highlights and some fabulous shopping! Overall an excellent balance of science related topics and traditional tour highlights, and the tour was clearly geared well to mature middle school students. Highly recommended and we will be looking at other EF tours!

The Robotics, Engineering, and Cities for the Future tour was an incredible experience for my child. It blended hands-on STEM learning with real-world innovation and cultural exploration. Visiting museums and smart cities made complex concepts exciting and tangible. EF did a great job with safety, organization, and giving students exposure to global technology trends. My child came back more curious, confident, and inspired to pursue STEM. A great mix of education, inspiration, and adventure. Highly recommended.

Participating in an EF STEM Tour to Japan was an unforgettable, eye-opening experience that blended science, technology, culture, and personal growth. Over the course of 8 days, I had the opportunity to explore Japan’s innovations in robotics and environmental sustainability while immersing myself in a country rich with tradition and forward-thinking design. As a chaperone, I witnessed firsthand how this tour inspired students to see STEM in action—from visiting cutting-edge technology centers in Tokyo to experiencing sustainable practices in rural communities. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned to include interactive workshops, educational site visits, and cultural experiences like visiting shrines, tasting traditional cuisine, and navigating Japan’s world-class transportation system. One of the highlights was visiting a robotics lab where students saw the future of AI and automation being developed. It was exciting not just for the students, but for me as well—to see how real-world STEM applications are shaping our global future. Beyond the academic side, this tour helped foster independence, global awareness, and teamwork among the group. Watching the students grow more confident each day, ask thoughtful questions, and connect with another culture was incredibly rewarding. EF’s coordination was smooth, the local guides were knowledgeable and engaging, and the accommodations and meals exceeded expectations. I highly recommend this tour for any educator or student looking to connect classroom learning to global STEM innovation in a meaningful and memorable way.

Great Guide, Well-Organized Tour—But the Itinerary Needs Work We recently took EF’s Japan STEM & Robotics Tour and overall, it was a great experience—but not without some flaws. The trip was well-organized and stress-free, which made it a good option for first-time visitors to Japan. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic, the hotel was clean and comfortable with an amazing breakfast, and our bus driver was great. We saw some incredible things: JAXA, teamLab Planets, Shibuya Crossing, Tsukiji Market, Asakusa Temple, Meiji Shrine, and more. Touring Shibuya Station with an architect and riding the trains were standout moments. Students especially enjoyed exploring places like Akihabara and Don Quijote. However, parts of the itinerary felt rushed or poorly designed. We went up the Tokyo Skytree but had no time to look around—up and down, and that was it. Some activities, like the Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park, were geared toward young kids and didn’t hold much value for older students. AIST was just a tech showroom—we would’ve loved a chance to speak with engineers. A few dinners weren’t great, and staying near the airport felt inconvenient. I also wish EF would take feedback from reviews like this to heart and refine their itineraries to better match the age group and interests. That said, the trip offered good value and gave us a fun, mostly stress-free way to explore Tokyo’s highlights. Just know that both the glowing and critical reviews you read are accurate—this tour has both strong points and definite room for improvement
