The trip offered valuable cultural experiences and knowledgeable tour guides, but the itinerary needs significant revision to improve comfort, educational value, and overall enjoyment. Schedule and pacing We had no meaningful downtime after landing, despite being jet-lagged. We were expected to walk extensively in extreme heat without adequate rest. The first day should include time to check in, recover at the hotel, and adjust before beginning strenuous activities. The schedule also did not allow us to enjoy the beach resort in Greece. Since the group stayed about an hour away at a beach hotel, dedicated time should have been included to use the beach, pool, and other resort amenities. Otherwise, there was little benefit to choosing that location. Tours and educational experiences Although the tour guides were good, museum visits felt rushed. We had too little time to view the artwork, read exhibit information, or explore independently. More time in museums, or an option to remain longer, would have made the trip more educational and rewarding. We also would have appreciated opportunities to enter and explore the Roman Forum and Colosseum. At Pompeii, more time with the guide at the archaeological site or in the museum would have been preferable to time spent viewing expensive souvenirs. There was too much emphasis on shopping for high-priced gifts in Pompeii and Athens. Many items were not reasonably priced for students ages 13 to 15. Shopping should be optional and limited, with more itinerary time devoted to the historical and cultural sites. Timing of the trip The trip should be scheduled outside the hottest part of the summer. Late May, early June, or September would likely offer more manageable temperatures and fewer crowds while still providing suitable weather for sightseeing and swimming. Greece's shoulder seasons are widely recommended for balancing pleasant weather with lower visitor levels. cntraveler.com greeceinsiders.travel Packing and luggage The packing guidance was inadequate for the heat and the lack of laundry access. I followed the provided list but ran out of clean clothing because we were sweating heavily every day. Participants should be allowed to bring a checked bag when laundry facilities are unavailable. The packing list should specifically recommend: More changes of clothing than would normally be needed for a trip of this length. At least two pairs of comfortable shoes, so participants do not have to wear dusty archaeological-site shoes inside museums and other indoor locations. A swimsuit, especially when accommodations include beach or pool access. Sun protection, including a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle. Lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for prolonged walking in high temperatures. The no-checked-bag policy also felt inconsistent because chaperones were permitted to bring large checked bags. Allowing students the same option would have provided enough clothing, appropriate footwear, swimming gear, and room for souvenirs. Overall, the trip would benefit from better pacing, scheduled rest, less shopping, longer museum and archaeological-site visits, more realistic packing guidance, and travel dates that avoid extreme summer heat.

The first day in Rome was very very busy. We crammed a lot into one day in the city, but there was so much to see. I didn’t expect it, but entering St. Peter’s Basilica was emotional for me. It was by far the most tiring day (we walked about 8 miles) but it was worth it. Note: have really good shoes and socks for a tour like this. The town of Castel Gandalfo was simply gorgeous. Could have stayed here for days. Athens was even better than Rome. The history here was even more immersive AND the food was amazing. Still a lot of walking but lots to see as well. We were able to pace ourselves better here and had a decent amount of free time. The Greek Dance Lesson was a fun little changeup and the Byzantine and Christian Museum had so many ancient artifacts on display. Athens was a great city to visit and learn about. Throughout all of this, we felt pretty safe. Again, a trip that will be remembered for the rest of our lives.
Do it! Despite a few hiccups and EF putting our kids in a hotel in a dangerous area at one stop, it was an incredible experience. The days were jammed pack but in the best way. Our tour guide made sure that we had everything we needed and did everything in his power to make it the trip the opportunity of a lifetime!
My daughter loved every minute of this trip and has met all new friends! This was an excellent experience!
Great time
Travel was easy to Athens but that’s the only positive thing I have to say about this company

Awesome destinations and knowledgeable tour guides.
Great tour guide! Could have spent a little more time exploring on our own or having options.
We had a wonderful time, though it was extraordinarily hot, and that required modifications. It was also very, very busy. And we didn’t have time to spend at any one place.
EF did a great job of planning a full itinerary. The tour guides in each city were very knowledgeable. Our EF leader Dennis was awesome!
Fun and very interesting
Expensive, group meals were terrible and repeated, but on our own for meals-- amazing. Lack of information on agenda e.g. thought The Colosseum was a stop, but we stood outside of it. Unable and unclear about taking tour inside when same-day passes were non-existent.
Our Rome and Athens trip was amazing. We were able to see and experience some many amazing sited on our trip. Our stays on Crete and Santorini were magical. Our tour director Maria was so easy to collaborate with and made our tour run flawlessly.
This trip was amazing and our daughter every moment of it. Thank you
We had a wonderful time we saw wonderful sights and ate wonderful food
My son was treated so horribly I’d never recommend touring again
What an amazing tour this was! We saw all the main attractions in these cities and learned a lot about them. I loved hearing about the history and culture of these two main cities we visited and it was fun to have free time as well. The food was so good in both places but the food in Greece exceeded my expectations. I fell inlove with the Greek islands and overall had an amazing time.
The best time for our 14 year old!
N/A the worst 5000 I spent on a trip
Excellent and very educational vacation!
