A true immersion experience! This was a fabulous trip and made history come to life. Each of the local guides brought so much rich history to the cities we visited and our EF guide, Paul, took amazing care of us! He thought us so much about not only WWII history, but also local customs, cuisine, where to get the best souvenirs etc etc ….he was fabulous! Highly recommend!

Our son had an absolutely amazing time on the trip. He's been talking about it almost non-stop since he got back and we are so glad he had the opprotunity for this experience. He absolutely raved about his guide, Paul, and made some great friends on the trip.

My teenager had a great time! She loved their guide, Tony, who was very informative and good at keeping everyone engaged. She'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite part of the trip, but was inspired by Normandy, the Berlin wall and Dachau.

Overall, the trip was enjoyable and very knowledgeable. Our tour guide Lisa Richardson was our saving grace, and she did everything within her power to make sure we enjoyed the trip. She was extremely knowledgable about everything related to WWII and the areas we visited. She really connected with the kids and made the trip exciting for everyone. We loved our stops in England, the Normadie area of France, along with Belgium and Germany. Our transportation was very inconsistent (buses were typically late picking us up) and our flights to & from Europe consisted of 2 lay-overs both ways, which is not acceptable, since I know that flying overseas, there are tons of options for having only one layover. This caused many headaches for everyone in our group. For our first day, we landed an hour late, and then our bus was over an hour late picking us up. Pretty much our first day was wasted due to EF choosing to go cheap on our flights, instead of doing it the right way. We did not see much of London on Day 1, other than briefly driving around and getting to go to our hotel. And to end our trip, we missed our 2nd connection in Chicago, due to issues with our plane in DC. Again, there was no need for 2 connecting flights. Most of our accommodations were acceptable to outstanding. La Ferme Du Bois in St Paul du Vernay was by far the favorite hotel and the kids really enjoyed it the most. On the downside, our hotel in Paris was far below acceptable. I think it was a 0 stars, if that is possible. How EF continues to use this hotel as a vendor baffles me. No one should ever have to stay at that place. Most locations we visited were very memorable, and my own critique that could have made it so much better, was that we spent too much time seeing the sites of Paris, and some of London in the Motor Coach, instead of on foot, as described in the brochure. The ferry trip from Portsmouth to Caen was another highlight for many in our party. Lastly, the restaurants for dinner were usually good, and my only complained, as many kids stated as well, the limited choices for meals were disappointing. I understand that many kids are being served and limiting choices makes it easier for the restaurants. In some cases, we were provided selections that had nothing to do with the local culture, which is what many in our group were looking forward to. The only opportunities we had to try out the local food items, were at lunchtime, and most times we did not have enough time to go into a sit down restaurant, as our buses were consistently late, causing us to have smaller windows to eat anything we could take to go. The few of occasions we were able to sit down at lunch, the kids took the opportunity to try foods that were part of the local culture (i.e. escargot, fish & chips, schnitzel & sauerkraut). Again, overall the trip was enjoyable, and EF did not deliver to make the trip completely memorable. Lisa was the shining star that saved a little bit of face for EF. She is probably the main reason why I am giving the trip 3 stars.

There was a lot of sitting on a bus being told about what was being passed. Not much hands on experience or exploring. One amazing experience with a WWII survivor, but a lot of sitting and looking at things going by.
