Both my magic chair and footstool were faulty on delivery and yet it’s been like pulling teeth in trying to get them replaced.
Initially the store agreed to replace them but having had my complaint passed around the company, they have changed their mind and wanted to inspect and do some kind of repair on them instead, which is unacceptable.
Now having to take legal action to get a refund.
Save thousands and buy a proper quality product, from a company who care about their customers.
Certainly not “Stressless” !!!
My money has since been refunded in full by my credit card company after I obtained a full independent report on the chair and footstool, which more than highlighted the many faults with them. They also refunded the full cost of the report and the items have been given to charity.
company refuses to honor their warranty
Despite the one year guarantee Ekornes refuses to take care of the issue. I purchased a stressless chair. The leather emits a strong smell and irritating chemicals. The company and it’s dealer, recliners LA refuse to take care of the issue.
I would never purchase anything from them again.

we order over $6,000 sofa and love seat in August 11,2017 and received with wrong color on December 15, 2017. We reported wrong color situation to store sale representative but he suggested to keep them for a while then we found out there are defect with leather cushion padding. Again we reported to have repair in December 2017 after one week of delivery date and one of the repair contractor came and look in January 27, 2018 after a month later. He also agree with defect padding with sofa and love seat and he reported back to sale representative to get repair order.
Then the new leather cushion padding came in May 2018 with not the same leather pattern and skin form. So the repair guy took many pictures and return back the form leather order and report to the sale rep again. Then we do not get any response from Ekornes and our sale man keep saying that there nothing he can do for our furniture since main company Ekornes does not do any.
As a housewife I would like to cry out daily when I see my furniture and they give us so much stress to go and forth correspondence to get repair. The quality of the material seem good but the form padding are moving around and the leather shows lots of tear and wear sign even we only have a few months without any pet at home. The repair man also agree with all the situation in his report but the sale man and Ekornes company do not involve any.
If you don't want to deal with this kind of situation after investing some large mount of money for furniture, please avoid buying Stress less Ekornes leather furniture.
Never buy again and not recommend to anyone even though we love the style. The company will say 10 years warranty but all are lying. The company even not pay attention after two three days of delivery defect report and no help at all. Ekornes company lady name- Mary keeps saying please report your situation to your sale representative from store but the sale store said company do nothing.

NO SERVICE period.
Buying Ekornes Stressless is like buying a nice automobile that comes with a 10 year warranty. What they forget to disclose is there are NO parts in the United States when the chair fails. I am told that I will have to wait 3 or 4 months for a part to come from Norway by boat. In my case, the recliner completely failed with all springs snapping in the seat cushion. The part was ordered 4 months ago by the original dealer. Due to a mistake they had to reorder 2 weeks ago. They make no apology and said it is too expensive to send the chair bottom over by air cargo. It took forever to hook up with a human voice back east who gave me an email to customer service who never responded. Seventeen days later, still no response.
Annoyed and disappointed customer
We bought a three piece in leather from rooms in Upminster , £4,400,and noticed marks on the back of the seats, we went to rooms and told them what had happened and that we had tried to clean the leather with the cleaning liquid we had been advised to buy for£35, it had no affect at all, we were told the seats should not be sat on while we were wearing clothes, we had the stressless furniture befor and felt confident we were buying good quality as we had no problems. A man from fera came, who rooms paid for, and we paid another man to come and give us a report, who pays gets the best report, he found even more faults. Small claims is our next step to get an end to this, we first complained in January 2017.
Ekornes Office chairs
I did buy a Stressless Office model Jazz-chair. Its crap beyond words, i do get my back aching in 20 minutes. Design is nice, maybe the living room chairs are good, but not the wheeled office chairs. It seats too high, legs almost swindle in the air. The piece under bum is too long, it affects blood circulation to legs. Lower back support - none. I tried to save something atleast and bought an ottoman. That helps a litle, thou only when i remember to raise my legs on it. Ekornes should quit making office chairs, because they will loose all their reputation. Crap is crap, no matter how elegantly you wrap it. Unfortunately i cant get money back, as it is my own stupidity not to test the product enough. And im 180cm tall - you would need to have someone over 210cm to MAYBE sit comfortably in the chair.

I purchased a Stressless Recliner at around $2800. First the store delivered the wrong recliner. It was the wrong size and they would not believe it was the wrong size so we had to load it in the car and take it back and prove it to the store. Then the right recliner was mysteriously found and delivered. Then the chair broke and the manufacturer blamed the store and the store blamed the manufacturer. Finally a so called repairman came out and could not fix it until my husband stepped in to help. Meanwhile we went online to figure out what to do about a small ballpoint pen mark on the leather. We learned that the leather could permanently change colors if you sit on it with bare skin and suntan lotion. We live in Florida. Duh. No one warned us of this. So now we have an ugly cloth cover on the beautiful chair. Great. The chair feels good and looks good but beware!
Poor quality furniture and appalling customer service
I purchased 2 stressless chairs and 2 sofas at considerable cost. After just a few months the topcoating started to come off one of the chair arms leaving the original hide exposed. I contacted Ekornes and submitted a warranty claim. They sent out an "expert" from their contractor to inspect the faulty arm. The "expert" clearly wasn't a person who had been trained on leather processing techniques and his method of testing to find out why the topcoating was coming off was amateurish to say the least. It quickly became clear he was sent to deny any responsibility for the defect by Ekornes, something I have since discovered appears to be standard practice by this company. My advice to anyone considering this furniture is don't buy, it isn't comfortable - stressless it isn't. The leather wrinkles badly within just a few weeks from new and if anything goes wrong Ekornes won't accept any liability whatsoever. I had always believed that Scandinavian companies produced quality goods and had integrity, Ekornes doesnt produce quality furniture and certainly lacks any integrity regarding honouring their warranty when something is an indisputable manufacturing defective, nor do they have the slightest loyalty to their customers. In essence, their products are overpriced junk, you would get better quality and better service from a DFS type company.
Have a two seater and a three seater …
Have a two seater and a three seater ekornes sofas and they are the most uncomfortable sofas I have ever sat on. Your bum becomes numb after about 30 mins and no matter how much movement on the chair helps make it comfy. The padding on the chair and back are minimal, I have tried lying down on the 3 seater sofa but the section where the individual seats met just dig in to my side so I can't even get comfy doing that either. The leather has gone really loose and wrinkly 6 month after purchase.
Ottoman Wheels
Purchased Stressless chairs and stools and a double ottoman 10 years ago. Have been very happy with the furniture until a recent issue.
While moving the ottoman, a black mark developed on our carpet. Turned the ottoman over and found that four of the plastic wheels were broken and one had locked up and caused the mark by dragging on the carpet.
The store from which we purchased the furniture had gone out of business and the closest store to our home was a two hour round trip.
Contacted Ekornes "Customer Service" and was told the wheels were only under warranty for five years and that we would have to find a dealer to help us with this problem. I was hoping that Ekornes would have offered to have replaced the wheels, free. At a minimum, thought they should have at least directed me to a web site from which I could by the wheels without driving 2hours. Not the type of service I expect from a high-end supplier.
Even one star is too much
Bought 2 x "Stressless" chairs and footstools from Hopewells in Nottingham, within one month both footstools fell apart, Hopewells sent for a furniture engineer 'representing' Ekornes who arrived approx 3 weeks later. The engineer decided that the base mechanisms needed replacing so ordered the parts, weeks later parts arrived, couple of days later engineer arrived, fitted them, said see how it goes and left.....
Within a couple of days, footstools fall apart. wrote to Hopewells - no answer, wrote to Ekornes - no answer, wrote to Ombudsman who wrote to Hopewells who ignored the Ombudsman as well so wrote to Barclaycard who wrote to Hopewells, guess what - ignored, so Barclaycard have asked us to get an independent quote for repairing the very poorly designed and badly manufactured furniture and will very kindly pay for the repair - even though the furniture is under warranty?
Make of this what you may, but I am appalled at the attitude of Hopewells AND Ekornes. I will never shop at Hopewells again and if anyone is thinking of buying ANY Ekornes products, be aware that you are buying very expensive, poorly designed and badly manufactured junk.
Stressless Office Chair Not Fit For Purpose
I have just purchased a Stessless Office Chair. The claims by the company in their advertising, the look of the product and the price all led me to think it would be a really comfortable office chair which would allow you to work at a desk for long periods of time. Unfortunately the chair has proved to be the most uncomfortable office chair I have ever sat in and I have sat in many over the years. The support for the lower back is awful in that there is none and I am suffering from back ache after about 20 minutes in the chair. I can't STRESS THIS LESS : - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING ONE THEY SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR AN OFFICE AS IN MY OPINION THEY'RE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE....... A WASTE OF MONEY :(
EKORNES warning – do not invest in EKORNES furniture.
I have an EKORNES Stressless chair where the seat is broken. It is the springs in the seat that is broken.
ERKONES furniture is very expensive and can be separated into parts. But EKORNES cannot or will not supply spare parts for its furniture. When you go to EKORNES with your problem, EKORNES only encouraged you to buy a new Stressless chair. EKORNES are totally unwilling to help and cannot or will not provide you with solutions, how to get your chair repaired.
ERKONES cost much, much more than similar furniture from IKEA, but as you cannot get spare parts for your ERKONES, so this EKORNES furniture becomes very expensive discount furniture, where customers are led to believe, by EKORNES false marketing, that they have purchased classic style furniture, which will last for years and years to come.
My call to all that wants to buy EKORNES furniture must be – not to invest in EKORNES furniture. EKORNES equals to no service and absolutely no help – as EKORNES charge good customers an awful lot of money.
