No longer trading, ran away with our money

Son in law recently purchased a car. It has since come to light that it was sold to him with a known fault. The car has been returned for repair on two occasions and the issue was not resolved.

Having raised a formal complaint and requested a refund and chasing for nearly two weeks without joy we have now found that the company has closed its doors.

10/10 experience from start to finish

10/10 experience from start to finish! Victoria explained everything very well and walked me through the whole process making it a smooth and easy transition into my new car! Emerald was able to give me the best money for my car and the best price for my new one! Was able to adhere to all of my needs and working well within my budget! Honestly could not recommend Emerald anymore!

Great sales process. Cheerful employees. Great after sales care. Overall experience 10/10 would recommend to anyone!
It’s rare to find a dealership that actually care but this one does!!

while buying the car

Friendly while buying the car, had some bad advice on an issue to start with after 2nd day of buying, then 2 months later had a motor issue and they basically didn't want to help. Never recommend them to anyone, once they have had your money £10,000 + car, didn't want to sort issue out while under a warranty.
Very poor. 😒😒

Don't trust any garage that covers up…

Don't trust any garage that covers up the Reg numbers of all their cars and then refuse to tell you the numbers when you contact them.
You need the Reg number to check for previous accident repairs and Mot history.

I have searched your details in our system and cannot find any records of a customer with your name, or similar, who has enquired with us.

We cover up number plates on adverts to help protect us from illegal activity that can occur. We have never, nor will we ever, refuse to provide the registration of a car to a customer who calls or emails us.

We operate transparrently, displaying an enhanced HPI check for each vehicle in the documents section on our website. We are happy for customers to do any addtional background checks in order to make them feel comfortable.

Leaving a 1 star review becuase of a number plate being covered up on an advert is unfair, and is not a true reflection of the exceptional customer experience we offer.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. The vehicle buying team are incredibly rude, awful communication and complete time wasters. I'm sure they're quick to take your money for a sale but having read other reviews it seems like that side of the dealership isn't great either. Strongly recommend using any other dealership in the country if you can.

We always appreciate the feedback from our customers however, I do not believe that your frustrations were with our award-winning customer service which can be proven by the 1500+ 5* reviews we have. Your frustration is from us refusing to purchase your car due to its very poor mechanical and cosmetic condition.

Our company prefers to purchase cars privately. We employ a team of buyers to ensure we have the best stock possible and have a team of assessors who travel across the UK inspecting and collecting them. We get the assurance that we have met the former keeper, can learn history about the car and inspect it cosmetically and mechanically.

We want our customers to know all our stock is well maintained and clean when purchasing from us, one of the reasons we have customers returning year after year and lots of referrals.

When one of our buyers saw your Peugeot 208 on a popular private selling site with what appeared to be clean cosmetic photos, we contacted you to arrange the process of purchasing the car. We do not like to rush this process to ensure we do all the necessary background and history checks before even coming to inspect it.

You requested we rush to purchase the car due to a significant change in your circumstances and a short time frame for you to sell it. We aimed to give you a great selling experience with us, so prioritised all the background checks. All our drivers were booked up collecting other cars, therefore we arranged for a technician and member of our team to get public transport to you, a journey over 120 miles away.

On cosmetic inspection, it was evident that the car had experienced significant damage from the poor cosmetic repairs and colour difference between the panels. Regardless, we continued with the mechanical inspection and found no engine oil in the car and discoloured/contaminated coolant.

Our assessor was not satisfied that the car was free from faults, and it did not meet the minimum standards we have when buying a used vehicle for our stock.

I am sorry to hear you feel we were rude. I have listened back to phone calls between you and our buying team. Despite the bad language directed towards him, our buyer remained professional, sympathetic, and courteous the entire time.

Whilst I appreciate you were in a hurry to sell the car and disappointed that we did not proceed with the transaction, we simply refuse to have stock that is not of a good quality for our valued customers.

Cant fault them at all. Honest and trustworthy in my opinion

Very impressed with the car i purchased 6 weeks on.
I never leave a review immediately after buying a car, you always find out if its decent a few weeks later.
Took it to a mates garage to be inspected and the mechanic there couldnt fault it at all.
All the work that emerald told me they done to the car before i bought it had been indeed done.
Very pleased customer and i will be returning

A great experience!

A great experience!

The process was very simple, I saw the car I wanted and then proceeded to contact Emerald cars, I was out through to a very professional and kind Tom Pearce who sorted all the details and payment with 24 hours! He spoke through the delivery process (which by the way was very good and friendly service by Mohammed). Tom kept me up to date with the procedures, and made sure to answer any of my questions. A very smooth sale throughout, led by a polite professional team!

Don't trust Autotrader Reviews

Firstly don't trust Autotrader Reviews, mine was taken down and replaced by a 5 star review by a 'customer' before 6am on a Sat... Yeah right!

Car and customer service was ok, but due to past experience I had car fully serviced immediately only to find it needed all new brake pads and discs, a new exhaust flexi and it had a slow puncture... So much for the 128 point check. That's about £500 worth of work straight away... Disappointing to say the least.

Your AutoTrader review is still there and visible. In order to leave a review on AutoTrader, you must be a verified buyer, they manage their own platform and we have no influence on reviews. Your comment regarding that we have had a fake review is entirely false and we do not take lightly. As a family run business, we have spent over 10 years building our reputation as an award-winning dealership. Just because a review was left around 6am on a Saturday morning does not imply that it is fake. AutoTrader's platform would not allow a fake review to be posted.

We searched our system and cannot locate any record of communication from yourself to inform us you were experiencing a problem with your vehicle.

All vehicles go through a thorough mechanical inspection before sale each vehicle has 3 inspections completed by 3 separate people and none of these mechanics listed the brakes on their report as a need for change. We pride ourselves on the quality of vehicles we sell and have customers return to us year on year.

I understand that you may have taken it to an external garage for reassurance. However, some garages will try to upsell their parts for financial gain. Had you have contacted us at the time, our team would have been happy to deal with your concerns in order to resolve the matter without you feeling the need to leave a 1* review.

Brought a car it broke same day they…

Brought a car it broke same day they apparently fixed it but it came back with more damage, asked for refund etc and they have car back and log book but as the car them wouldn't start now trying to blame me for messing with the electrics so they not taking the car back

Made it so easy to buy the car was waiting for me on arrival after reserving a smooth test drive followed by the dreaded paperwork which was over in no time assisted all the way through and got the best finance deal could will definitely be back for next car

Car delivered with issues

I purchased a car from Emerald House if Cars on the condition a few jobs would be completed before delivery. (Paint scratches removed, key battery replaced and cracked rear wiper replaced). These were all completed and the car was delivered 4 days later, but this is where the issues start.

Firstly, the car was delivered with only 3 miles of fuel left in the tank. How ridiculous, what if the nearest garage was 5+ miles away I would have been stranded. Furthermore the delivery driver then needed a lift to the nearest train station to get back to Birmingham (I didn’t have much free time to do this as I had to get back to work)

- Secondly, the tyre pressures were 15PSI below the recommended pressure with TPMS warning lamp on. This doesn’t give much confidence in pre delivery inspection that was apparently completed.

- Thirdly, the garage convinced me to fork out £500 on a 12 month warrantee but didn’t produce any documentation for proof of sale. When I called them up and asked I was email documents for a completely different company to the one we had discussed in the store. Surely this is misleading? I called up and the person who answered the phone made up some excuses how the warranty they’ve provided is superior (3 start review on google)

- Finally, the car has an awful creak from the rear suspension. Not sure I can hold this against the garage as I didn’t hear the noise during the original test drive but it was present immediately after the car was delivered so the delivery driver 100% heard it.

Overall I’m happy with the car but disappointed with the points made above so would not recommend buying from this garage.

We appreciate you visiting us prior to purchasing your BMW and I’m glad we were able to rectify the couple of cosmetic things to ensure your entire satisfaction before committing to the purchase. I also understand, although you came to visit us prior, we offered you free delivery to help make the handover an easier experience for you.

With the short notice and due to being extremely busy with deliveries on the day you requested, we had an external company deliver the car on our behalf. They did not inform us of any issues with the delivery. Please let me stress that what you have described is the complete opposite of what you can expect throughout your dealings with us and, had it been one of our drivers, we would have not delivered the car with a fuel light or tyre pressure light illuminated. We sincerely apologise and have contacted the delivery company to ensure this does not happen again.

In regards to your 12 month gold extended warranty, I can assure you this is a superior product. The warranty policy is a higher level of cover than what we discussed with you on site and specialises in performance vehicles such as your new BMW M140i.

I understand that Tom has spoken with you a couple of times since your purchase and we welcome you to contact us if you require any assistance in the future.

I purchased my vehicle in November 2020, I used the sourcing service which was amazing as I knew exactly what car I wanted and that’s what they got me with a very quick turn round!
I still visit Emerald for my MOT & servicing. 10/10 experience for buying and servicing.

Award winning for a reason! 🏆🏆

From the initial telephone enquiry, to seeing everything in the most intricate detail on their adverts (Videos and Advert) there was simply nothing I wasn't aware of.

The car was presented very well and all the important documents were enclosed online for me to download and view in my own time.

Polite, Professional and very knowledgeable, I couldn't recommend the Emerald team any higher.

Great service and I'll most certainly be back again

This garage has to be the most…

This garage has to be the most diabolical garage I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
I bought a Citroen ds3 from this garage. As soon as I got the car home, there was issues straight away, the engine warning and service light came on among many others issues. I contacted the garage and to be fair they came and collected the car and gave me a courtesy car.
After a long 2 weeks of waiting for the repairs to be completed and after being told loads of different completion dates. I finally received my car back. Much to my dismay one of the previous issues still remained and the car had come back with other issues it didn’t go in with! The whole bumper was wonky, the passenger door was rubbing against the metal on the wheel arch and there was a small dent in the passenger side A pillar.
Once again I called the garage explaining this, to be honest Gemma who was dealing with the situation was very apologetic and I expressed I didn’t want the car anymore.
I explained I wanted an unwind on my finance and for them to take the car back. I am unable to travel long distances (the garage is over an hour away) due to my medical conditions and knowing that they still charged me £96 to collect the car from me, even though the faults were all there’s.
They did pick the car up promptly but really dragged their feet on paying the finance and my deposit back, myself and zuto were having to badger them to get it sorted.
The thing that really put the icing on the cake was that before they had even sent my money back, they had already put the vehicle back up for sale on their website.
I can’t explain how stressful this has been for me and I’m now left without a car, which i need for work, my children and my own health.
Considering they are award winning and apparently complete a 128 point inspection, I was extremely disappointed with this garage and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
