Entertain Energiglass at your peril

Entertain Energiglass at your peril. As with others I have had to give 1 star to begin this review. Please bear in mind my wife and I are in our 70's and although not in any way senile things do take a little longer to register. On 26.5.17 my wife took a call from what she understood to be a government related matter stemming from us having had cavity wall insulation installed some four or five years previous. The gist of the call was that after the insulation we should have our double glazed windows checked for efficiency. We were going away that very day and my wife informed the caller she did not have time to deal with it there and then. On 9.6.17 my wife took another call from the same source and agreed for someone to visit. The visit was made the same day by a man who told us he happened to be in the area at the time and as a favour had agreed to fit in our visit. The man checked our windows and apart from some more recent additions told us our glass was losing around 60% of heat due to age and deterioration. It did become apparent he was not from a government scheme and the glass would have to be paid for but with a generous discount. At his suggestion we agreed to have 8 units in the lounge window replaced. The cost was £2118.00 reduced to £1371.00 after the discount. We paid a deposit of £275.00 by cheque and I signed the purchase order. Arrangements were made for a surveyor to visit on 12.6.17 to measure each unit to ensure maximum efficiency of the new glass. Some time after the man had left my wife and I discussed what we had done and decided the cost was too much and we had made a mistake. I also noticed that the purchase order stated I had asked a rep to call. Although that in theory was true it was as the result of a very misleading cold call. After further thought and realising our mistake I cancelled the order by email the following day. Then purchase order clearly stated we could cancel within 7 days without giving reason. On 12.6.17 I received a call from the surveyor and then Customer Services and I informed both of the cancellation. In each case I was told someone would be notified and the latter told me a refund would be arranged. After further emails and a recorded delivery cancellation form being sent to the company I have received no contact from them. My only other option was to contact my bank and cancel the cheque deposit. I can only give my experience and opinion of Energiglass but feel compelled to warn others, BEWARE!!!
P Gardner
I have explained to Trustpilot that I totally disagree with the reporting by Energiglass that my review was in breach of the guidelines. I have not experienced any of their products and I have not referred to any. I have experienced their services in that following my cancellation of the order I sent them three further emails and a recorded delivery cancellation form to which I received no reply or acknowledgement. It was the lack of response from this company that I cancelled my deposit cheque via my bank. What was I to do, leave it and join the queue of those fighting for their deposit refunds. As for withdrawing from my contract without detriment I was obliged to pay for the cheque cancellation and I consider this, together with my worry, to be detrimental. If Energiglass consider this to be normal process then I beg to differ. I can find no reason why Energiglass was reluctant to reply to my emails or letter, they certainly responded quickly to my review.
P Gardner

This reply is for the benefit of Roger who does not appear to have the full facts. Yes we did receive two calls, the first being a cold call purporting to be a government follow up scheme to our previously installed cavity wall insulation. We were not in a position to deal with the call at the time and the second call was a follow up to that one. I do not consider the first call to be a telesales call, I consider it to be a very misleading cold call. Please bear in mind that at this time we still believed it to be a government scheme. It was only when the rep called to our home shortly after the second call that we realised it was not such a scheme. We did not receive a second visit as stated because I had already cancelled and explained this to the surveyor before he could visit. As for the company giving customers plenty of time to make their minds up and honouring any cancellation does this include refusing to acknowledge any cancellation even after several messages had been sent. I am sorry Roger but my view of your company remains the same.

Mr Gardner,

Energiglass are always concerned when any customer is not happy with our services, though in this case I'm afraid I'm struggling to see why you have rated us so badly.

Your review tells me that you went through our normal process of agreeing to a sales visit after 2 telesales calls and then after signing an order during the sales visit and receiving a further surveyors visit deciding to cancel.

This process clearly demonstrates the company's approach of giving customer plenty of time to make up their minds and honouring any cancellations, despite the costs to us of 2 visits to your home.

Surely the customer assurance and protections built in the Energiglass's system should be more highly rated?

Energiglass won't fix my leaking conservatory roof

Had to put 1 * to complete the review.
My conservatory roof leaks.
I contact energiglass about a leak in my conservatory roof in March 2017.
A Technician arrived and said that as the weather was bad he couldn't go on the roof but would come back and repair it later that week. He didn't come. I was out but assumed that the problem had been fixed as they didn't contact me to re-arrange or come to undertake the work the following week.
Last week following a thunderstorm the same problem occured, same again, a Technician called but hadn't got the equipment to fix the problem but said the office would call me the following morning.
I have made numerous phone calls this week, none of which have been returned. Their customer service is a joke.

Can I start by apologising for the delay in fixing your leaking conservatory. Whilst leaks are not always detectable until it rains and the delay is partly due the weather not allowing repairs to be done, it is also clear that we have not dealt with this as quickly as we would hope.

I have checked and see that one of our teams is visiting you today to mend the leak.

Apologies again

NON RETURNED DEPOSIT 11 WEEKS & COUNTING

I had to give 1* to allow me to proceed. I placed an order on 22nd March. The agent knew my house was for sale at the time, fortunately my house was sold 2 days late. I cancelled my order 2 days later on 24th March. I received a phone call on Monday 28th March from energiglass regarding the cancellation, which I confirmed. I was told the deposit would be returned.I have contacted energiglass 7times by phone and the excuses was the director who signs the cheque is ON HOLIDAY, OFF ILL, NOT IN THE OFFICE, OFF DUE TO FAMILY BUSINESS. Surely someone is available to sign a cheque!!!! I think this is appalling why advertise deposit returned if order cancelled within 7 days if they do not mean it?

Customer service is an unfunny joke

Ken Bates, Lincoln

A word to those who may be thinking of having dealings with Energiglass.
Be aware that this company's customer services leaves much to be desired. On numerous occasions I have called to enquire when they are coming to complete my installation, only to be told that someone "will call me back". I am still waiting.
Maybe some negative feedback will help.

If you do decide to go with Energiglass, you need to hope they get everything right on the first visit because you'll have a hell of a job getting them to come back to put things right. I would suggest maybe going to Safestyle or Anglian or Everest.

Top class

Was a little bit apprehensive of buying from someone I didn't know but I can honestly say from the minute Mike came round to show me the windows the apprenshion went away. Great presentation of the windows and great price compared to another company I had a quote from. The fitters were top class and just worked away. Had a good laugh with them too. Top class

Read the Reviews and Make Your Own Decision !

The work done appears to very good but certain concerns have come to light in relation to the 10 year warranty.
The contract I was presented with and signed had a FENSA logo, saying that EnergiGlass are a 'FENSA Certified Company' but the company has subsequently admitted that they are not covered by FENSA for the work I had done, which was 'glass reburbishment' (replacing the double glazed unit).
There was also a logo relating to a firm called 'iwa.biz', who do 10yr warranties on double glazing, I shall wait to see if this is the warranty that covers EnergiGlass and the work I had done.
The sales person didn't clarify that for the work I was having done, glass refurbishment only, wasn't covered by FENSA, but by a different company, 'iwa.biz', who's company logo was also on the contract, so why would the FENSA logo even on the contract document when the FENSA option doesn't apply ???
I am not knowledgeable about who these insurance backed companies are, how they work and what they cover and I was certainly not advised accordingly by the sales person.
When the work had been completed, I asked one of the fitters about my certificate and he said it would be sent out by EnergiGlass but he didn't specify how long it would take to come through. After a week of not receiving the certificate I subsequently ended up contacting them on several occasions, always referring to it as the 'FENSA certificate', none of the members of staff I spoke to actually clarified that my work wasn't covered by FENSA, but by 'iwa.biz'. The first time I rung the lady I spoke to said, "Didn't the fitters give you it ?" to which my reply was, "No, they said you would send it out to me !" (is this a case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing ?!) I was promised it would be sent out to me via e-mail that afternoon, it never materialised. Subsequent messages were passed on to their manager 'Karen' who it turns out doesn't even exist !!!!!! It was only through my persistence that I got a very defensive installations manager called Julie who admitted that the work I had done wasn't covered by FENSA but by a different company but promised me she would get my 'independent 10year warranty'' sent out to me, at that point I thought, "I will believe it when I see it !"
Being concerned by the other reviews I had read on Trust Pilot and as a result of the on-going issues I was having re getting my certificate, I decided to contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau who advised me to contact Trading Standards for possible misleading representation in relation to the FENSA logo on their glass refurbishment form. Trading Standards took my details and the information I provided and I left them to it ! They haven't got back to me since so I have no idea what the outcome of their enquiries are, I'm not particularly bothered to be honest, if it turns out that everything to do with my concerns are above board, then fine but I did what I felt was best at the time.
The worrying thing is for me now is that I have totally lost faith with EnergiGlass, how do I even know whether the goods are up to the standard they say they are ? Suffice to say I may or may not be having them independently tested at a later stage to find out and for peace of mind and to satisfy my curiosity.
Oh, a good tip by the way, if when you've read the reviews, you have any concerns, I personally would suggest you pay as little towards the deposit as you can, that way at least, pending you getting you're refund back should you do decide to cancel, it's not as big an amount to wait to get back !!!!!!

Updated post.....
Further to my above post, a call from a gentleman at EnergiGlass and Roger's comments....
I was informed that my insurance backed certificate was posted out to me on Wed. 12th April...it's now Sat. 22nd and it's still not arrived....and Roger states I have received it.....???!!!!!
I subsequently got a telephone call from the insurance company 'iwa.biz' who clarified that the reason they hadn't sent my insurance backed certificate out was because Energiglass had sent my e-mail address incorrectly....!!!!!!!! Once I had clarified my correct e-mail address iwa.biz e-mailed my insurance certificate within minutes.
I as also offered a gift card from EnergiGlass to remove my review.....as you can tell, I didn't accept the gift card and my review still stands, although I do appreciate and accept Roger's explanation in relation to how exactly FENSA works.

Sorry to differ with you but you appear to have misunderstood how FENSA work.

FENSA do not themselves "cover" any window installations or warranties at all. FENSA's role is to ensure that window installers meet the technical competencies required to replace window frames. This is because window frames often support the structure of a building and therefore must be fitted properly.

Energiglass are fully accredited to FENSA and meet all of their competency requirements. This can easily be checked on their website; - www.fensa.co.uk. Energiglass are therefore justified in using the FENSA logo on their paperwork.

With regard to your guarantee, you have received documents for a valid insurance backed guarantee. FENSA again have nothing to do with individual guarantees, though I note that they have accredited the company who are providing your guarantee.

I gather that the installation of your new windows was successful and without incident. It therefore seems unfortunate that the misunderstanding about FENSA has marred what was an otherwise satisfactory sale.

Valerie, its a shame that you accept our explanation of how FENSA works and that we are a member, but have not amended your factually incorrect comments.

Deplorable business practice

I placed an order with EnergiGlass on 26th September 2016 and cancelled within seven days, fulfilling the company’s cancellation policy. Despite telephone calls and emails requesting return of my £700 deposit, five months later I am still waiting for my money to be refunded. Two company representatives have telephoned and offered to lower the estimate of the work but I explained I no longer want the work done and simply want the return of my refund. They have promised to return my deposit but I have received nothing. Customer services are never available and messages are ignored. I have a serious heart condition and the distress caused by EnergiGlass is making me feel really ill.

still awaiting refund of deposit. £720. 16 month

we placed an order with their rep. Next day we cancelled,in the recommended way. We had given £720 deposit by cheque, he would not accept card..After dozens of phone calls, e mails , and paying to take it to small claims court, to no avail. We are still, 16 months later, waiting for our deposit. This is an extremely upsetting situation, which we could well do without in our 80s..

Not worth the money

Well to start was happy ish with the price and what was supposedly to be done. Fitters were great but the after care team are shocking, numerous calls and nobody wanted to take ownership of the work not carried out on the day.... left with inoperable bathroom window handle, frames were never deep cleaned, nobody even looked at the windows outside as replacement gaskets and sealant were offered if required but nobody looked. Just sat in today in the hope the engineer was turning up as promised, guess what ??? No engineer. Disappointed big style . £2100, I could of spent on a reliable company ☹️

Firstly, can i express my apologies that you are disappointed with Energiglass about the issues you have mentioned above.
I have looked into the appointment that was made for today. According to our records you were booked to be seen by an installer between the hours of nine and eleven this morning.
Our records indicate the installer arrived at your property at approximately 10am and there was nobody answering the door. One of the installations department tried to telephone your house but there was also no answer. Establishing no one was home at the time the installer was told to leave your property.

I will have one of my colleagues from the installation department call you on Wed 22nd Feb and I hope we can get this matter resolved as soon as possible.

Avoid at all costs!

Had to give one star just to start this review but actually give no stars whatsoever. After a cold call in the morning we allowed this company into our home and were persuaded to go ahead with a full refit of all our windows, we paid a deposit by cheque of £850. After much discussion between ourselves over the next few days we decided we had made a mistake and decided to cancel our order. We e-mailed the company as stated in the rules within the 7day deadline to ask for a refund of our cheque. Absolutely no response from them. We re-sent the e-mail over the next 6 days, again , no response. We then wrote to them giving them up to 10th February to reimburse us. I am sorry to say that we still have not received any response whatsoever. We are now having to take this matter up in the small claims court. As far as I am concerned this company is to be avoided at all costs. They are basically just thieves and should be ashamed of themselves. How long it will take us to get our money back I have no idea but we could do without all this stress!

Update 28/02/17. Before going to the small claims court we wrote to the registered company address on 31/01/17. Today we have received this letter back from the post office stating "addressee gone away". Small claims in process. Roger, you replied to our complaint on the15/02/17 stating that you would get our refund sorted out, we are still waiting!

12/05/2017. Finally got a cheque back for a full refund and surprisingly it didn't bounce! Also an M & S card with £20 on it in way of an apology! Could have done without the 3 months of stress though and this doesn't change my opinion of Energiglass as a company!

Unhappy with the work and customer services

Would not recommend this company. Promised so much and just didn't deliver. For what they charge I expected better. Had one window to refurbish but only did 1/2 the job and even that isn't very good (seals cut too short, corner mitres not cut, scratches/marks on the glass). Didn't turn up to rectify as promised. Customer services don't respond to e-mails or call back. Given 14 days to sort before claiming money back.

Fight for Refund

I was cold called in January 2016 by The Energy Saving Centre. They sent their representative who was from EnergiGlass. I paid him a cheque for £100 to secure my contract until I got my funds through. In June 2016 I paid the representative from EnergiGlass a further cheque for £2900. Then I waited for a date for my work to be carried out. Despite contacting them many times I never got a date for the work. Eventually I had had enough and cancelled my contract through breach of contract in September 2016. Since then I have received no answer to my requests for the refund of my deposit.
Update - 20 Aug 17
Five weeks ago, I finally got EnergiGlass to acknowledge me. I was informed by John Seale and Roger that it was in the hands of the Director, who is the only one who can/will sign cheques.
As I said, that was 5 weeks ago, and Mr Uddin appears to be a man of little, if any, integrity.
This whole experience has shattered my faith in people.

Fight for refund

After taking a deposit of £888, EnergiGlass cancelled the order as they were unable to do the work required. After dozens of pointless phone calls over 3 months we pursued the matter through Money Claim Online (HM Courts) and finally have a cheque which did clear the bank. Best to avoid, but if you must pay, use a credit card or be prepared to go through the courts.

Still wait for our deposit after 3 months

We gave £100 deposit on the 13.09.16 but cancelled the next day as we got told of a family member we could get the glass cheaper but we are still waiting for the deposit!
We have sent 4 emails and phone the company on numerous times but apparently the man we need to talk to is never there and then we phone back when he should be in, he conveniently gone home early.
