Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 45 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported receiving fines for tolls or vignettes they had already paid, often despite providing proof. These charges frequently escalated significantly, including excessive administrative fees, even for small initial amounts. Contacting the company proved difficult, with automated responses and an inability to reach a helpful representative. Reviewers found their payment evidence often ignored, leading to continued pursuit for increasing fines. Poor communication and slow response times exacerbated issues, leaving many frustrated and without recourse. Some customers found the process made contesting original amounts difficult, leading to concerns about the charges.

3 notices. impossible to get in touch with them

I got 3 notices from Hungary. Unfornutalety, in august 2024 while travelling through Hungary I bought the vignette by putting the wrong car license number.
I received the notices one year later (summer 2025):
Notice Number 100499214
Notice Number 100484811
Notice Number 100499213
I answered you on the 1st August 2025 by sending the e-vignette from 2024 together with other information to demand for the correction of the vignette.
However, I only got an answer from you at mid september 2025 and your letter was dated on 8th august. It took more than one month to get a feedback from you. Now I just sent you the additional info you requested. How can it be that there is no quick and smooth way to get in touch with you.

Unfair and unjust system

Received 2 toll charges for tolls that I had already paid at the time of using the toll bridge. Pain the first one (£7) thinking I'd made a mistake for my Southbound journey. Did not get any initial warning for my Northbound journey and the first notice I had was a £50 charge of admin fees without any prior letter or notice?!

What a way to run a business

What a way to run a business.
On May 9th and 14th 2022, I drove I gather from the EPC invoice, through a toll at Boliqueime, Algarve.
This with a hire car. I always pay the hire company for any tolls due, on returning the car.
On June 18th, 2025, I received an invoice demanding payment of £3.06 p for the Toll. £15.64 adsmin fees, £43.32 for Admin costs. Total Invoice: £62.02.
Never having heard of EPC, I thought the invoice after 37 months to be a scam. I contacted the car hire Company and was told to contact EPC. This I did by 2 telephone calls to 02072889740. Both times they said they would sort it out with Appeals. Yesterday I received another pay now invoice for a £74.45. A further penalty charge of £12.73 for delayed payment. This in spite of my being in touch with a contact at EPC who told me it would be sorted out. The whole company from what I read in other reports seem to operate on a highly immoral plan. Do not tell the client they owe you money until sufficient time has elapsed for EPC to claim penalty costs. Even delay in reply to inital queries and then have the nerve to increase delay payment charges. This Company needs someone to investigate their method of working. Obviously I am just one of many, being taken for a ride by this Company. This is not a way to run a Company and the Directors should be made aware if not already aware. Incompetence at best. Hopefully no more. I have retained copies of all contact with EPC

Shocking contempt for people. Should be out of business.

So so bad. I was issued penalties despite having paid the relevant tolls. This is not the first time this has happened - so I knew not to delete receipts. Even after you provide evidence in the form of receipts these guys will keep issuing and doubling the fines for weeks. When I did manage to eventually speak to someone at EPC Plc about this they told me that none of their systems can "speak to one another" and errors such as this can take months to work out and there is nothing they can do. In the meantime the notices keep coming piling unnecessary pressure on innocent people. Utterly shocking. Whatever public bodies procure these guys to administer on their behalf need to have a good look at themselves.

I paid vignette in Hungary I kept a proof of payment and they still send me a penalty . The Hungarian motorway department will issue random penalties hoping that everyone will pay £106 just to close the case and never mind . How can the system fail and issue penalty when the driver holds by email proof of Paymet?

This company operates what I believe is…

This company operates what I believe is an unfair and predatory toll collection system. I moved to Portugal and, unfortunately, didn’t initially realise how the toll system worked. Later, I started receiving letters in Lithuania demanding large payments — but never the first invoice or any initial warning.

Every letter already included huge penalties, sometimes +300% of the original amount, for “not responding.” How could I respond to something I never received? This feels like a deliberate system to maximise charges, leaving you with no real possibility to contest or pay the original toll.

In my opinion, this practice is abusive and should be investigated at an international level. Consumers deserve transparency and a fair chance to settle the original amount before being hit with extreme penalties.

EPCplc are scammers

EPCplc are scammers. Ah they expect us to pay their adm fees - where does it say I have to pay them?
It is a joke. I contacted Vialivre in Portugal who confirmed there are no fines to pay. The car was fitted with a Transponder anyhow. This company should be investigated.

No Transparency, High Fees

I paid to EPC plc for Portuguese tolls 3 years ago. Now they sent me another fine from the same toll system for €116. I asked them 4 times to compare it with my old payment, but they refuse to provide any details — just keep saying it’s a “different case.”

The new fine includes €73,44 extra admin fees on top of the official Portuguese fee, which seems excessive and unfair. Zero transparency, no willingness to help.

I am getting “invoices” in the post…

I am getting “invoices” in the post from EPC regarding non payment of overstaying 3 hours parking on the M4 services at Reading. My overstay was not an overstay at all - I was staying in the Travelodge in the car park at the services where the receptionist records the car registration numbers of guests on a computer system to avoid the overstay charge situation. The problem arises where guests have a foreign registered car (which I have) because the registration number has to be entered into the computer manually and the computer only keeps the registration details for 24 hours. In my case, I stayed at the Travelodge for over 10 days. Despite sending EPC details of my paying the hotel for my stay EPC are still pursuing me for 3 lots of £174! This all happened in Aug/Sept 2023! Following the latest demand in the post today I phoned EPC and explained the situation from start to finish - to no avail. I said I looked forward to seeing them in Court where I will be pursuing them for compensation for the stress caused by their actions, the time spent dealing with them, phone calls etc. in conclusion EPC seem to me to be a bunch of opportunistic chancers who believe that folk will just give up and pay them. NOT ME.

Dear Bob,
We would like to clarify that EPC plc is not a scam company. We are contracted by government agencies, tolling authorities, and private landowners to process and recover charges in accordance with applicable laws and contractual agreements.
Regarding your case, our records show that the parking charge was issued by the site operator, not EPC directly. EPC’s role is to act as their authorised agent to pursue the amount stated by them. Any supporting evidence you have — such as proof of stay at the Travelodge — is assessed in line with the information and instructions provided by the site operator.
We understand your explanation about foreign-registered vehicles and the hotel’s registration process. If the hotel failed to correctly record your vehicle’s registration for the full duration of your stay, this would need to be confirmed directly by the site operator for the charge to be cancelled. EPC cannot unilaterally override the operator’s decision without their authorisation.
We do not seek to cause distress — our role is to ensure that the notice is processed in line with the contractual terms set by the landowner. We encourage you to send all relevant supporting documents again to evidence@epcplc.com quoting your reference number so we can escalate this to the site operator for review.

Kind regards,
European Parking Control

The Mug's Bell

In Euro Parking Collection's office sit a number of people round a long table. A brass bell hangs above the middle of the table. Once in a while one of the employees will jump up and hit the bell with a stick to make it ring, and shout "I got a mug who's paid!"

If I could I’d give zero stars

If I could I’d give zero stars. This company shouldn’t be allowed to function like this. I received the penalty notice which I was prepared to pay. The instructions to pay are useless and direct you to the platform promoting Epcpic’s services with no clear option as to how to pay the outstanding payment. It took me 50 minutes googling to eventually navigate to what looked like a separate Epc page. Even then there was a circuitous route and repetition before I could make a payment. Complicated or what appears to me to seem misleading online payment systems should not be allowed.

Sent a demand for toll charges from…

Sent a demand for toll charges from Portugal originating last September. I paid the charges and have the evidence, but still get this obnoxious demand 9 months later.
Never trust this company, and fight them!
I eventually got matters sorted and all demands for payment dropped. It took persistence. I believe the problem mainly lies with the road levy company in Portugal, but Epcplc needs to be aware of this and critically check late payments requests, especially from Portugal - if for no other reason but to protect their reputation, which is not good.

Why can't I give minus stars?!

We have a Dartford crossing account. EPC did not collect payment from this account for 5 crossings (the account is open and topped up). They then send a letter which arrived 6 weeks after the letter said it arrived (yes, I know, this makes no sense. They write it on one day and say that the date of arrival = the date from which you have a grace period to pay, is 2 days later.) - and therefore charge you 80 pounds per crossing.
I'm not paying and will take this to the small claims court - I am invoicing them for the time I am spending trying to sort this out.

ILLEGAL SCAM

I used the Dartford Crossing twice on a trip to visit a relative in the London Area.
I paid each time, within the time allowed, but I received 2 notices to pay, pushing my crossing fee from 2.50pnds to almos 100.
I challenhged both and produced copy of my e they are claiminghpayments.
They accepted my challenge.
Surely there is a scam going on here. They know who has paid but they send these claims out.
They should be investigated
