Their comment moderation team is a joke. They allow certain people to troll as many people as they like without repercussions and then punish those that respond in kind.

They force you to subscribe (pay) to reject cookies. Lol; I knew this website would go to **** once Ziff Davis bought the site. They literally own most publications, hence the access journalism that resides in all the outlets they own.

They basically keep their positive relationships with game publishers at the expense of the consumers. This usually occurs through over inflated review scores that are the polar opposites of the view amongst the general public. Yep, they lie through the skin of their teeth.

Eurogamer also do not like a viewpoint not shared by their own and will at the very least delete any comments they do not like. It does not matter if a comment is backed up by evidence in a debatable subject. In perticular, they strongly do not like peoples opinions on diversity or LGBTQ subjects; free speech is eradicated on this site to be honest.

Been using this website since its inception many, many moons ago but today I cannot access it unless I accept ALL of their various tracking cookies or subscribe. Shame to leave but I won't be bullied into subscribing or handing over my privacy.

I've been frequenting this site for over 10 years and it used to be one the most reliable videogame sites out there. However you cannot log in unless you accept ALL cookies and tracking now. They have disabled any ability to opt out unless you pay a subscription. Sorry, but I won't be coerced like that. The site has also became increasingly radical left wing, with bullying the norm if you don't adhere to there anti-sentiment views towards certain political narratives and individuals like Trump and Musk. Its basically the new Reddit!

Trustpilot uses a 5 stars system, exactly like Eurogamers. And I had problems finding a correct rating. Actually, it would be a 5/10 (2.5 stars…). So I try to be in a good mood, and give 3 stars.
I know they are a bit controversial, and I do not review them according to specific games / reviews, but globally.

The +
1. The digital Foundry is very nice indeed; a mine for factual and accurate information.
2. Reviews are interesting as they sometimes present things and feelings that are not in other reviews. But it has also a negative effect (see below) as it is not easy to play the part of the devil's advocate.
3. It is an “old” site, and it is probably difficult in the modern environment to keep it running. It is good to have a site with different approaches so then you can better have thesis / antithesis.
4. English is not my language, and I am not from UK. But I enjoy the quality of the writing in terms of vocabulary, fluidity and articulation of explanations, and lack of Americanisms. They read and sound like The Guardian!

The –
1. It uses a 5 star system and it does not integrate well with global rating systems using decimal (10). They give an 8 (4 stars) or 10 (5 stars) but can’t give a 9. It is difficult to refine a feeling.
2. Reviews are sometimes at the opposite of what you expect, especially if you read and watch other reviews before. In a way, it can be positive as it does not follow a trend, but it mostly seems as if the staff had too many things to do, too little time, and just played a game in a rush even if it is a genre the reviewer does not like to play. And in some reviews, the feeling is very much “I'm bored to death playing this, but my boss told me I had to do it as no one else is available…”
3. Reviewers have strange words/concepts not sounding neutral or factual. Ex. They call “idiot” a character who is just a normal immature teenager behaving like 90% of the teenagers (and 100% when it is a 500 years old aristocrat born with a silver spoon in his mouth!), or make assumptions that are the absolute opposite of what you discover after reading carefully a lore, listening to NPCs, and investing 100s hours. It is a surface feeling, converted into a final review.
4. Comments are a no man’s land. The “supporters” are bullies, and will just make fun at you if you do not support the official view. It is absolutely not a friendly and open zone.
5. Moderation seems to have found a magical wand, and it is a rather recent change. The era before Covid, moderators were more open-mind and it was possible to read views / counter-views. Now, comments disagreeing with the main review are bullied (point 4), or simply deleted by mods. The spirit is gone, and they have a very protective (and secluded?) moderating system. You do not feel welcome signing up and commenting – except if you go with the flow…

Used to be a decent news website. Well not anymore. Not recommended after the Dragon Age: the Veilguard and KCD2 ratings which speak for themselves. Either the people are totally delusional or not capable of understanding how modern games should look like.

Just check how they rated Dragon Age: The Veilguard! . The game that didn't sell at all and led BioWare to serious financial problems, Eurogamer rated 5 stars out of 5 100/100

So, i went one day to check a review on a very dubious woke videogame called Dragon Age the Veilguard. Then i check the title of the article that says and i quote "Dragon Age The Veilguard review - The best Bioware game i have ever played". Listen, i thought at first this was a joke but it's not. These "journalists" and i'm using this word very loosely, went from the most credible website to the worst, on par with IGN. That article should be used for comedy sketches. A person that gives a 5 stars to this game that should be ashamed of having the Dragon Age name, should be fired. I say this because that person has no reason to play videogames anymore. My only question to you, the associate editor, is - How much did they bribe you to type this review?

Eurogamer used to be good around 10 years ago, but now it's a bunch of political activists masquerading as journalists. They don't even cover much gaming news anymore outside of big budget popular titles. I feel pity for the poor folks at Digital Foundry who have to stick with this bunch.

Worst game reviewers, take no information from them seriously.

Eurogamer used to be a very good source of news 10 years ago, but these days they have 1/3rd of their article outputs; and they only cover a very small selection of games, and other half of the articles are straight up pushing political agenda. They will also straight deleting comments pointing out their inaccuracies or criticisms about their article; or stances they don’t agree with.

Eurogamer logic:
clicks > credibility

I thought I'd update this review to show their complete hypocrisy, cam across an article of theirs

"We're biased, apparently. Well, no we're not. Anybody who reads Eurogamer regularly knows that we simply like games and don't hold back with what we think about them."

Yet they seemingly silence anyone who has that same drive, amazing hypocrisy!

Eurogamer's writers and YouTube presenters are desperate to find racism, homophobia and transphobia in every game they review or play, either in the characters or the developers, or both. Everything has a Woke/PC angle, with the word "racist" being bandied about like it's going out of fashion. They're mostly middle class white people in their thirties, so what experience they have of these issues is open to question. Most likely they've jumped on the Woke bandwagon because they believe it to be progressive (and popular), but it's disingenuous. I doubt these privileged idlers who play games for a living really understand the themes they insist on inserting in every available situation.
