I have now had two repairs with both being very poor, I have purchase vehicles from Evans Halshaw with good experience. The repair side are very disappointing, seem to have little understanding of the mechanics of an accident and how this can affect a vehicle. Once is an error twice on two separate vehicles I would suggest questioning the ability. If you have another option I suggest taking that option

Went to purchase a APPROVED used car from the Gateshead Vauxhall branch. Sales man was very friendly and accommodating up to the point of sale. Once I had signed on the dotted line that is when the customer service started to change.
I was told the car could be ready in a few days however I had requested a few scratches and dents be repaired so gave the dealership another week to sort.
On new car day it was agreed me and my wife would pick the car up at 10am, I had pre arranged my insurance to auto change to the new car.
When we arrived at the dealership the car was nowhere to be seen, I was instructed it was just going through their final inspection. As the car had previously been registered as a disability car which I was unaware of I was instructed I would have to go to the local post office with the salesman to tax the car. A little disgruntled at this point but we were that excited about receiving our new car I agreed.
When we returned to the dealership the car was still not ready, I was then informed they were waiting for the finance to clear. This was over 2 hours after our 10am pick up time, I could see my wife was upset by now so requested to speak to a manager, the said manager was rude, condescending and no help whatsoever. Eventually the car was brought to the front of the dealership which I was then told at that moment their painter had let them down so I would need to return at a later date to have minor repairs to the bodywork fixed. Very disappointing but me and my wife were that sick I just wanted fo get out of the place.
After driving away and on closer inspection we found the interior had not been cleaned to a satisfactory standard, dirty hand marks on cream leather parts of the interior, crumbs and personnel belongings of the previous owner were in the glove box and door cards it had not been cleaned in my opinion. They had stamped the service book in the wrong place without the correct information so thus was also a red flag.
I phoned the dealership and left messages for someone to contact me regarding the car but no call was returned, I emailed and got a reply a day later and the salesman agreed to put the car through their professional cleaning service again and promised go fix it.
I returned the car as planned the following week and first approached the service desk, I requested information about the service stamp which I was nervous they had just literally stamped the book, in known to them I had taken the car to my local Volvo dealership to enquire about a service package and they had informed me no record was stored in the car to show a service had been carried out.
When I approached the service desk the service administrator was very sheepish about my questions, I was told he could not give me any details about the car history as I was not the owner of the car at that time. Eventually he instructed me the car had a filter and oil change, does this meet the minimum requirements to warrant a 30k service ?
I honestly don’t think they had serviced the car. I informed the service advisor I did not trust the garage had done a service as he could not provide any evidence and that I fully intended to take the car to Volvo as a safety precaution.
I left the car after showing their business manager the damage I wanted repaired and the areas of the interior I thought needed more work, when I left it was strange how quickly the car got moved to their maintenance workshop almost as if they had mechanical work to do to the car !
I received a call the following day to say the car was all sorted
When I got to the garage the car exterior looked very clean, dents were fixed but scratches had been touched in with a paint pen !
Interior had still not been cleaned to a satisfactory standard, everything I had shown the business manager was still the same !
I requested a higher manager to escalate my concerns further and eventually got Sam the used sales director
Sam was actually very accommodating and apologetic, assured me this is not the service he expects for customers. He requested another 24 hours with the car to clean it to the correct standard, he went on to explain the scratches to the car would not get a full panel spray and I should have been told that before sale which not ideal I accepted. Sam also offered to pay for a full tank of fuel as a compensation for the ordeal.
24 hours later I returned to a fully valeted car looking great and left with a full tank of petrol.
The car is booked in to volvo for a full service and I have no doubt they will find very clean oil and a new filter but I don’t want to take a chance
Overall my experience with this company has been terrible, customer service is diabolical and some of their staff really shouldn’t work in customer services.
New car experience terrible and very upsetting for my wife I won’t return to this garage!

Jemma Snape assisted us to buy our first car on line.
The attitude, manner and professional way in which conducted herself made it a joy to deal with her and the company she represents. Nothing was too much trouble, the whole experience was smooth and seamless. Jemma was a real star and a dream to work with. Thank you so much Jemma. We would be more than happy to recommend Jemma and Evans Halshaw to all of our friends who are looking for another car. Excellent service all round. ps. We are from West Wales, the car is being delivered within two working days, now that is service with a smile!!

If it was possible I would not give any stars. Do not use this garage. We were forced to use this garage as this is where our insurance company sent us when somebody crashed into our 3 week old Jag. Whilst in the garage one of their mechanics thought it was ok to drive our car to Greggs and to a home address for his own benefit . The garage were not the slightest bit bothered this had happened. To too it off the workmanship was shoddy and had to go into Stratstone to be rectified. The door leaked the trim on the seat was scraped by the body shop and the car was returned filthy.

Bought a car a year ago and it's been with the garage more than me to the point that I had to get the financial ombudsman involved with the finance Company, finance Company has finally agreed to take the car back, end the agreement and Compensate me for all the stress and hassle, however the car has broken down again for the 5th time and the garage won't do anything about it, the engine was replaced in January and the gear selector cable has now snapped, once again stuck and once again can't get to work, garages answer to that was get the bus or train, I'm a severe asthmatic and can't manage the walk, but they said not their problem, despite selling me a broken and faulty car, joke of a Company and horrendous service
