Technicians are incompetent

Bought a Renault Arkana from Renault Group Manchester in July 2023. The dealership has since been taken over by Evans Halshaw, but the problems, and the responsibility, transferred with it. Within months of purchase, the car developed fuel pump faults, anti-pollution warnings, and gearbox issues, and has been off the road for over six months cumulatively since I bought it. What makes this worse is that their technicians repeatedly passed and released this vehicle back to me in a condition that was a hazard to life. A car with an active gearbox oil leak and recurring drivetrain faults should never have been signed off as roadworthy. That is not incompetence, that is negligence. Every attempt to get this resolved was met with delays, sticking-plaster fixes, and a complete lack of accountability. When I formally invoked my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and requested full rejection, the response was dismissive. No genuine attempt to resolve it, just stalling and deflection. An independent inspection in April 2026 confirmed a gearbox oil leak. This is not wear and tear. This is a vehicle that was not of satisfactory quality at the point of sale, and Evans Halshaw, as the successor business, are responsible. I have now escalated simultaneously to The Motor Ombudsman and the Financial Ombudsman Service. Every opportunity was given to do the right thing. They chose not to. Know your rights before you buy from this dealership. You may need them.

Disgusting attitude! Unsafe & threatening behaviour

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the greasy long haired bloke who thinks he’s a doorman and car park security… He is obviously not qualified enough to be “salesman” so fancies himself as a professional a-hole. Popped in to have a look at a newer model, walked round the showroom twice before anyone asked if we wanted help. None of the cars had information attached to them. The car we was mostly interested in looking at wasn’t even there so we left. My baby had been unwell on the drive to the showroom so upon going back to our car we was searching the car park for an outside bin to put some rubbish after clearing up from him being sick and to get some fresh air to him. The greasy fella then proceeded to shout at us from the showroom and followed us round the car park. He was quite rude and a little bit threatening in his manner, as a woman with a small child I felt quite threatened and unsafe. I didn’t realise his second career was in harassment. Will not be visiting again and will be reporting him to head office promptly ✌🏻
