I bought a car for over 9K from Evans Halshaw Middlesbrough on 28 February 2026 and unfortunately the experience since then has been AWFUL.
I enquired about the car online and told yes, it's ready to buy if I wanted to come up (I live about 1.5 hours away). When I got there, it wasn't.
I purchased the car still and told to come back before the end of the month to collect it. After over a week I went to collect it, only to find it hadn't been cleaned properly and there were faults. I reported the issues on the day and following weeks which included an engine/belt noise, a tyre continually losing pressure, faulty clock/software, accelerator concerns and later a knocking noise from the steering. The car has been back for repairs several times, as well as being taken to Nissan for work Evans Halshaw could not carry out themselves.
Despite repeated visits, the steering fault is still present. After that same visit, I also discovered the passenger daytime running light was no longer working.
I have spent months emailing, travelling back and forth to Middlesbrough/York and taking time off work trying to get the vehicle put right. Evans Halshaw also agreed to reimburse the cost of the Nissan repair, which has remained outstanding during the complaint.
I eventually raised a formal complaint and asked either for the remaining faults to be repaired independently (and locally) at their cost or for the vehicle to be rejected. More than six months after purchase, I am still dealing with unresolved issues that were reported shortly after buying the car. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Evans Halshaw Middlesbrough.
Edit 4th September - they have just reimbursed the cost of the clock /software work I had done by Nissan York 9th June

Broke consumer law act 2015 several times.
Bad attitudes and unprofessional. Never buy from Evans Halshaw, especially Vauxhall branch, South Bank TS3

I pointed to Umair out the vehicle had 1000 more miles than advertised and he just feigned ignorance, asked about the log book and he said oh these cars don't have them - found it in the glove box! Oh and one of the tyres had a slow puncture - typical lying second hand car salesman.

Absolute garbage.
Bought a car and within 2 months the car suffered a fault with HCU. Approached dealer who told me to deal with local Renault dealer (also Evans Halshaw) neither were interested.
I eventually had to go in to the dealership in person before someone paid any attention. Eventually after around an hour i was told to call RAC as a breakdown and let Renault deal with it.
No service, no care, no interest. I have now asked the bank to see if they can reject the car back to the dealer.
