Everlast Ewell disappointing refurbishment
Everlast Ewell refurbishment is appalling. The fitness machines: treadmills, arm, leg press etc are too close together to move safely around. Also, the free weights area is not fit for purpose; a serious health and safety accident waiting to happen. No proper stretch area, and, the yoga, Pilates studio is filled with hyrox equipment. Furthermore, the steam and sauna are both constantly out of order; the pool temperature too cold on many occasions; these areas were not ‘refurbished’. The increased cost of membership, £45 in most cases, is not reflected in the quality of the refurbished gym. Thus, after 14 years as a member I have had no option but to cancel and go elsewhere.
I would not recommend this gym based on everything
I would not recommend this gym based on my experience.
The customer service has been extremely disappointing. I have been trying for the past two months to resolve an issue regarding a refund after my membership expired, and it has taken that long just to reach the point where someone is willing to discuss the matter.
I was never notified that the gym had closed or that it had reopened. Because of this, I reasonably assumed that my membership would not continue to be charged. When I initially tried to contact them, I used the email address provided on their website, which unfortunately did not work. Despite this, the gym has claimed that the mistake was mine and has refused to take responsibility.
As a result, a considerable amount of my time has been wasted, and I have now been told that they will not be issuing a refund for money that I believe I should not have been charged in the first place.
In addition to the customer service issues, the gym itself is not particularly well maintained. Much of the equipment is old, and since two gyms appear to have been merged into one, it becomes extremely busy. During peak times you can spend a large portion of your workout simply waiting for equipment to become available.
I also had an unpleasant interaction with one member of staff who came across as quite rude and behaved as though they were doing me a favour by speaking with me.
Although I tried to overlook that incident at the time, it contributed to the overall negative experience.
Overall, this has been the worst gym experience I have had.
I would not recommend it to others and would suggest considering alternative gyms if you are looking for better equipment and more reliable customer service.
Membership price increases without notice and unable to cancel for a further month
Gym membership at Everlast Ewell increased to almost double without a warning in February for myself and my elderly mum. Now I have been told we can not cancel and will have to pay for March because we didn’t give enough notice. I emailed in the day the direct debit was taken which gives ample time a month actually until the next payment in march is due. If I had known it was about to increase I would have been able to give more notice. I feel this is terribly unfair to us both we have been loyal members for a number of years now with Everlast and previously sports direct I have never know anything like it.
The refurb is great, (some) PTs are a problem
The refurb is great but unfortunately some of the PTs are still more of a hindrance than a help. There is a handful of them (those who spend their time shouting at each other across the gym) who seem to think they own the place and expect members to move off equipment because they want to use it. This used to be a really friendly gym but over the last 2-3 years there has been an influx of PTs who seem to want to create a clique and it really is spoiling the place. I feel sorry for the couple of PTs who are actually considerate to the members and work quietly with their clients rather than spending their time drawing attention to themselves - get rid of the others and find more like these and we'll have a much happier gym space.
Ewell gym no longer inclusive after refurbishment
I have been a member a Ewell Surrey for nearly 10 years. Being disabled and on crutches is was ideal for me. Friendly helpful staff and nice members.
It was closed for refurbishment in November and re-opened on December 22nd. I was really looking forward to
This. The facility had been promised a refurb for years.
I went back to the gym on thd 29th December . I was totally deflated and upset. The equipment was so close together it was unsafe for me to use. If people are using the fixed plate machines I cannot get through the space with my crutches. I actually fell over. The treadmills are so close together. If I can’t use the two end treadmills I can’t get on as nowhere to put my crutches. The benches and bars are so close together. You can’t use if someone was putting weights on a bar on next chest press. This is clearly dangerous.
This is clearly a health and safety issue.
I can only assume no consideration was given to disabled customers, or people with mobility problems When this refurb was planned
I spoke to the reception staff who wrote on my membership facilities issues.
I was advised to send email to manager Raising my issues. This was sent on 31st December. Still waiting response. I also tried to write on social media. Facebook and Instagram. I Was denied. So anything negative everlast won’t allow on their social media. I did get a response on instagram saying marketing deal
With social media and this can’t go on. They will pass my message internally to health and Safety. Very convenient.
I also raised a complaint. Never had a response
Under the disability equity act 2010 the Ewell gym is. Now not inclusive.
I have now got the equity commission involved in to looking into this.
Some Everlast gyms are certainly not inclusive. How can a gym be refurbished and then not inclusive. They obviously don’t want disabled customers anymore or people with mobility problems.
If you are disabled or have mobility problems some Everlast gyms don’t want us.
Just to be clear this is an Everlast head office issue not the Ewell gym Facility. The management at everlast head office would have approved this refurbishment.
Ewell gym is/was ok
Ewell gym is/was ok. It is now currently being refurbished so hopefully it will come back better. The swimming pool was always awful though. There was the same bits of hair and bits around the pool for weeks so clearly nobody cleaned it. Few of the tiles were off on the floor of the pool too. If they keep the pool can you please clean it every day.
Inevitably closing down soon
Staff friendly enough, but the company clearly falling apart. Was a member at the Epsom club which closed down for being a health hazard, now moved to the Ewell one which has countless broken machines with no signs of them being fixed. This gym won’t be around much longer.
What happened to the good manager?
I moved from France for work at the end of last year and Everlast Epsom was the first gym I joined. I came over from the gym that closed to the one in Banstead Road at the beginning of the year, along with my wife.
Initially, the manager who came over from Epsom was very good with both of us and you could see he was actively putting in an effort to improve the place and make our transition good. The older manager before was also okay too, we do not remember names.
He was not there very long and I don't know why but is a shame. Unfortunately, the new manager, the tall, bald one does not seem very approachable and the rest of the team are sometimes okay, sometimes not so it is very inconsistent.
The gym is also very busy and people do not put their weight away which makes it difficult to train.
An absolute disgrace.....
This gym is an absolute disgrace. We have been complaining for months and have requested refunds of our membership fees because of poor facilities, equipment and services out of action for weeks, or even months and even closing 2 hours early without any notice, warning or apology. Do not join.
Gutted epsom gym shut sort out the app…
Gutted epsom gym shut sort out the app so we can book classes at banstead rd gym
Unable to use pool area
Since October the pool has had no heating, more like a plunge pool, too cold to swim. It has now been emptied as there is a leak. No idea when it will be fixed. Due to health and safety issues they have now closed the sauna and steam room. Have emailed 4 times to complain, standard response, the manager will contact you, still waiting. Told to go to Banstead Road but it's not convenient.
Changing rooms filthy, general areas grubby. Waste of money.
The gym won't refund me even long after admitting they owe me
Everlast Ewell gym has acknowledged that my cancellation was requested and processed within the 14-days cooling-off period, and that the money should be refunded to me according to the contract. However, it's been over 50 days since my cancellation and they haven't refunded me yet. They've also stopped answering my emails (before they at least claimed that they would chase the Head Office which is responsible for the payment).
Everlast Ewell is tired
Everlast Ewell is tired, dirty and always have equipment out of order with no sign of repair. The staff while friendly are not enabled to remedy any issues and do not do anything without head office sanction, which never is provided.

WENT TO THIS GYM ON SATURDAY 22ND JUNE 2024
THE WHITE GIRL ON THE RECEPTION WITH DARK HAIR AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON PLANET EARTH...SO MOODY ..NO SMILE..RUDE AND NEGATIVE...SHE NEEDS TO BE SACKED.
Terrible Customer Service towards a 12 year member
Avoid the Everlast Gym franchise. I've been a member of the Epsom branch since 2012, and I wanted to officially move to the Ewell Branch (Banstead Road) and was told that I have to cancel one month in advance at the Epsom. I've done that but then was no longer able to go into the Ewell Branch on Banstead Road becaue the prices went up, so I offered to pay the difference over what I was paying to the Epsom until the cancellation went through and all I got from the jobsworth staff was "We don't take cash and I can't credit it to your account so you'll have to double pay or you can't come in and have access to the club." I'm a 12 year member of their gym and they couldn't let me pay the 10 pounds difference and then sign up after the my cancellation expires. It boggles the mind at how they can treat a 12 year customers with such disinterest and contempt.
On top of that, the Banstead Road club is full of builders and landscape gardener who often come into the club after work in their dirty clothes, and the general gym etiquite is poor: they do not enforce people to rerack their weights, people drop their weights constantly, weight machines are bad quality and are not kept up nicely, and there's only 1 bench press and 1 squat rack, which are constantly being used.
The terrible treatment from customer service over the gym swap was the last straw for me and I'll be taking my money elsewhere and I recommend staying well away from this franchise as they don't care about the customers at all and their front of house staff have had no training in customer support.
Joined this gym
Joined this gym. And I really wish I never.
It’s very rough the gym Equipment. Is either broken or just old fashioned. Also the maintenance around the building is absolutely disgusting there’s know up keep the swimming pool stairs to get into the pool is broken with tape around it and now we have been told they are now taking the jacuzzi away so we’re can you relax. I will be cancelling my membership you get what you pay for cheap old warehouse
Very poor gym
Very poor gym. Old & dated equipment in need of replacing. Repairs to broken equipment non existent.
Total lack of adherence to gym rules and etiquette by some of the freelance PT’s. Health and safety breeches commonplace and regularly flouted by Everlast gym & freelance staff.
Complaints brushed under the carpet by management on a regular basis.
Has potential to be a very good gym but needs complete overhaul with new dynamic management , new PT’s , new equipment and money spent on the building .Unlikely to happen with current track record.
There are much better gyms in the local vicinity to use.
Attended Water Babies swimming class
Attended Water Babies swimming class - was discriminated against - manager is very rude and abrupt. Initially staff member let me in swimming pool side, man then came over and kept asking me to leave in such a rude and unprofessional manner, during this i was questioning if he is staff member or a guest.. eventually he said he is the manager and stated mother's only so if you are a father you will not be let in to take your child swimming. After i asked him to explain further, guess he realised and changed his story to health and safety nonsense. Was left in absolute shock. Manager needs urgent firing! His name is Emad.Very unprofessional.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs, Equipment is old and outdated but mostly broken or out of use. The place is rundown, dirty and generally grubby.
The staff are nice enough and the PT are great however the manager is no where to been seen when you want to complain, never responds to emails.
The place is frankly rubbish and you are better off going elsewhere.
Avoid. Absolutely shocking
Enjoyed Halifax gym and visited birstall too with the same membership. Not bad gyms. Cancelled after a phone call from ewell everlast gym saying we owed £480 for a 2nd everlast membership for the same person. Why would I have 2 memberships when my first allows me to access other everlast gyms???? Also, why would I want a membership for Ewell when I live in Yorkshire??? After several emails i assume our emails where blocked as they kept bouncing back. After a month of trying I still haven't had confirmation my Halifax membership is cancelled and the random Ewell membership is still unresolved. Terrible unhelpful customer service. Daylight robbers.
