The gym provide quite a good combination of classes. Gym equipment is good.
I wish we could be able to delete the old waiting list notifications.
Most of the class instructors are nice and friendly but some of the instructors put the music too loud (over 100 dB). I used the ear plugs to protect my hearing.
There is no free on-site parking.
Good class combination.
Overall, it is a good gym.
The changing rooms are disgustingly dirty
The changing rooms are disgustingly dirty with body hair all over the floor. Revolting!
The changing rooms are communal so you could have someone of the opposite sex in the next cubicle - I don’t feel comfortable with that.
The pool is lovely for lane swimming and although its a little cooler than I like it’s a nice pool - lanes sectioned off to accommodate slow to fast swimmers - ideal.
Chiltern Spa and Wellness Centre (Amersham, Bucks)- Unclean and run-down
I had a Spa day for 2 booking as a gift, and decided to treat a friend who was recently bereaved and I wanted to cheer her up. When we arrived, there was no record of the booking, so I had to show emails as they were not prepared.
We were looking forward to a relaxing day, however the whole experience was very disappointing, frustrating and we were more stressed leaving the Spa.
The changing rooms were filthy (this was at the start of opening, and no sign of being cleaned for a long time), no soap in the dispenser, in the 1 toilet. Communal changing room, 2 tired looking showers, with hair blocked in plug holes already at the start of the morning. Half of the clothes hooks were broken, dust, grime and limescale marks everywhere. Wet kit dispenser empty. Water fountain was filthy, with warm drinking water. No paper cups, so had to use a coffee cup, and no complimentary hot drinks. £2.20 a token. The 2 foot spas weren't working with no Out of Order sign. They looked as if they hadn't been working for a long time as they were filthy, and not plug in 1 of them. Doors, paintwork and floors needing a good scrub and there were no signs of surfaces being wiped down. The mosaic tiled heated beds were so dirty so we didn't attempt to use them. We did use the steam room and sauna, but presumably the steam and heat cleaned those areas.
We spent an hour in total using the so-called facilities, and spent more time taking photos as evidence, as we could not quite believe the condition of the area. We felt dirty as we left the spa. If it wasn't for using my own shower gel, there would not have been any hand soap or sanitizer. We chose not to upgrade to any of the treatments, and to be honest, quite relieved as we weren't relaxed enough to have enjoyed them.
It has cost £50.00 to be able to use the sauna and steam room which is a ridiculous amount of money. This spa is open to the Lifestyle Centre members and should not be advertised as a Spa gift experience through third-party companies. I have emailed my complaints, but with no response at all. It has taken me longer to complain without any feedback, as it was to use the facilities! So disappointing.
An excellent variety of fitness classes…
An excellent variety of fitness classes offered daily, guided by expert, highly experienced instructors.
Very impressive
I visited on a one day taster pass and was very impressed. The team in the gym, climbing centre and spa took time to explain how everything works. I did a very enjoyable group dance-fitness class and had a swim in the main pool which wasn't too busy. All in all a very good experience.
Rude staff
I was taking my dauther for swimming lessons for a while, she is level 3.But today one member of staf was very rude and I cancel the membership.
Caroline the yoga instructor at…
Caroline the yoga instructor at everyone active, Chilterns lifestyle centre was top class. The session felt holistic, warm and engaging.
Swimming lessons
Swimming lessons not good for 4 year olds. A lot of standing around and not a lot of swimming !
Will be leaving
I'll be back! 😃
My first ever visit to the Chiltern Lifestyle Pool was for a Virtual Aqua Aerobics session - their first. I thought it worked really well, although I missed the personal touch of an instructor. The whole centre was impeccably clean and well maintained and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. I'm new resident and I'll be back!

The facilities here are great, but choose your time carefully
The facilities here are great, and not too expensive. Best to come before the schools are out, as it can get quite crowded with schoolchildren, and it is frustrating when they sit on a machine without using it for 20-30 minutes just reading their emails.

Love the classes at Chiltern Lifestyle
Love the classes at Chiltern Lifestyle. Just wish they were not so oversubscribed during weekdays, I have to always go on a waitlist to hopefully secure a spot. Would be nice to be able to consistently attend the same classes each week. They need more fitness classes (especially strength, Zumba and step).

I highly recommend this brilliant centre!
Our experience is always enjoyable. The centre is well maintained and the staff helpful and friendly. The changing facilities are excellent and the pool water is lovely and warm.
Very high quality centre
The whole range of staff and instructors are, in my (long!) experience, exceptional. Reception staff are particularly helpful and welcoming. I swim, do aqua aerobics, fitness sessions in classes and the gym, I also use the sauna and steam in the spa so, whilst there is no concession for older people on the pricier membership, (which I really needed for advance booking purposes), I get my money’s worth - it helps that my level of membership enables me to use other centres, too, and I do this. The changing village works well and is kept clean and fresh. There are plenty of cubicled showers, I like the spacious grooming area and appreciate larger lockers for those of us with sports rucksacks (you need a refundable £1 or trolley token). If anything stops working, it is usually fixed fairly quickly. When a friend lost an earring in the shower, maintenance and cleaning staff could not have been more responsive and helpful. Online booking works well, although you need to be proactive to ensure a space in a class - there is a waiting list option so keep looking for late cancellations. I quite like the idea that people have to pay a penalty if they book and just don’t turn up - it maximises use of class spaces as these are often oversubscribed. I don’t like the occasional glitches that result in an unwarranted fine and suspension from booking - but do find that a quick call to the centre’s reception team resolves things with the minimum of fuss. The café and central area are good and the cafe applies discounts for members. There is also a library and other community facilities on site. As I travel from Chesham, it’s helpful to have bus stops right outside; if you do park, you can pay via Ringo, which helpfully reminds you if you are nearing your expiry time (for parking, that is!!!). On the occasions that I have brought the car, I’ve never had problems finding a parking space.
The new Chiltern leisure centre
The new Chiltern leisure centre is impressive. Well planned and clean. The swimming pool is large and water warm.
We have swimming lessons and Paul our swimming instructor is excellent. Very patient and encouraging. He doesn’t rush, gives clear instructions and demonstrations.
Great but improvements on going.
Very helpful staff great value for money with an impressive array of facilities however the cleanliness and lack of staff interaction in the gym lets this centre down.
Love using the centre and can definitely recommend, also good to see the re -decoration is in progress but I hope the spa area gets a full face lift and more cleaners employed with the correct tools to do a good job please Everyone Active!
