Using Fareham leisure centre for a time…
Using Fareham leisure centre for a time limited period as a visitor. Front of house staff were excellent sorting out my membership and what would be best for me. Excellent facilities with a great range of classes to suit what ever you fancy. Best part is friendly, helpful staff who have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and included. Thank you

People working at the reception rather make sure you cancel your membership. They are most unhelpful. They also do not want to help you to book PT sessions or join a class. They do not care about the business at all. Today, I finally decided to leave this review as I could not stand it any more.

Maintenance ain't great
I would love to know why you don't bother to repair the corridor next to the water play area?? It has been like that for about a year so fareham leisure centre has blatantly given up on it and doesn't care how bad it looks which is a shame.

Failure to give notice
Having taken out a membership, £28 pm I go swimming twice a week, I book lanes in advance but one particular Friday after waking up I didn’t feel well as I suffer with fibromyalgia and had an attack that morning and didn’t feel I could manage the swim. So I cancelled this, and then they slapped a £4 charge saying I didn’t give enough notice I did dispute this but very coldly was told that it is in terms and conditions, I felt very discriminatory about this, that unfortunately life can’t give you 4 hours notice.
So now I haven’t been swimming and I’m going to cancel my subscription for the fact that booking in advance is not worth it, so just pay as you go.
Very disappointing everyone active because sometimes people aren’t

Stinky toilets and very poor cleaning
We are here a lot with our youngest Grandson, age 3
Have noticed on many occasions that the female toilets near the showers absolutely STINK !!!!! as do the downstairs ones by the sports hall.
There again this morning and same terrible smell.
My husband has previously complained about the men’s toilets,
Only this morning my husband had to flush the loo BEFORE he could use it.
That’s down to previous visitor, BUT he says the toilet bowls are BROWN
Maybe put some Harpic tablets down overnight, they are amazing.
Overall cleanliness and attention to details ( In the corners of the floor) are very poor.
If I was in charge of cleaning , heads would roll.
What a shame this centre gets Sooooo many negative reviews.
Come on Manager, do your stuff

Improving facilities
The centre provides a wide range of activities at specific times and days for 'seniors' (those over 50 years of age). It is addressing outstanding maintenance issues and provide a more welcoming environment for all.

For me the staff at the centre are what make it so great. I've been a user for over 5 years and it's a big part of my life every week. Very friendly helpful staff on reception, in the gym, the trainers and the cafe staff. Since the big refurb the main gym is so big, with lots of equipment and different areas to work out. We use PT trainers regularly - I've had Lynsey and my son has Ricky. The support and encouragement both have given has been wonderful. My son has lost so much weight and has a positive outlook, whereas he used to be shy, and worried about how he looked, Ricky has transformed him mentally and physically. We now go to the gym together and it's great we can both enjoy the centre as mum and son. The classes here are brilliant and I particularly love Lynsey's classes, Core is my absolute favourite - the soundtracks we work out to make it feel like a disco, starting the day with a big smile on your face sets you up for the rest of the day.

Good
On the whole each time I visit it is positive, new showers and hairdryers have been installed. Just a few things need attention such as inflating the balls for core blimey class.

Unprofessional staff attitude
I visited the leisure centre today with my wife and two sons. My 9-year-old, who’s in Stage 4 swimming, was practicing treading water. I took him to the deep end where I could stand while he practiced and let him rest by holding the side when needed. A lifeguard was stationed close by.
While we were there, another lifeguard approached my son—despite me being right next to him—and asked him to swim to the middle of the pool. When I asked why, she said it was to check if he could swim because the other lifeguard was concerned he might be a weak swimmer since he was holding the side and each attempt.
I understand they have a job to do, but the approach felt off. Instead of addressing my son directly, it would’ve been more professional to speak to me first. In any case, I had him swim to the middle, which satisfied their concern. He was never in any danger and was only resting as part of learning to tread water. Don’t just skip past the parent and give orders to my child to swim. What if he couldn’t swim and started to drown, then you traumatise him from that experience? If he was in danger, the lifeguard who sent you, who was less than a metre away would have been more productive at assisting with the situation.

A very friendly centre
A very friendly centre; staff are always helpful. The instructors are excellent and deliver great classes. The gym is well equipped with great Personal Trainers who offer individual, and group, personal training, at a competitive price.

An excellent facility with an enormous range of classes to suit everyone from old to young. The aerobics and dance classes are so much fun that you leave with a feeling of elevated joy which lasts the whole day and find that you have actually burnt almost 500 calories ☺️… the Body balance classes are so good too especially after activity to stretch your muscles and help with your flexibility.
Then of course there’s the cafe where after your workout you can enjoy having freshly made food, all varieties of coffee and fruit drinks too made with fresh fruit!!!
