Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 89 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about receiving unexpected parking fines despite having made valid payments or displaying proper tickets in the car parks. Consumers expressed deep frustration regarding expensive penalty charges, poorly functioning payment machines, and completely rejected appeals by the management. Some reviewers were not happy with receiving severe warnings and official notices issued without proper prior notice or adequate communication. People also noted that customer service representatives remained completely unhelpful, ignoring clear evidence and failing to resolve parking disputes effectively. Reviewers additionally described confusing signage and difficult conditions that made complying with local rules nearly impossible.

Excel parking rubbish

Excel parking ! Tried to take me to court for not paying parking, I paid but there was a sight digit out on the registration, due to letters missing off the machine which was not in good order. It got kicked out of court because I did pay :-). Thankfully common sense prevailed, horrible firm to deal with and will try to make even more money out of breaches disproportionately.

Terrible company

A company who went to court to try to recover 10k for a parking charge, lost the case, and rather than accept it. Appealed.

And lost again.

Absolute scum of the earth.

Britain has become a sick country when it allows companies like Excel parking to even exist.

Recent demand to make Excel pay 10k to charity because of what they have done is a pathetic gesture....should be banned.

How they treat Blue Badge holders is appalling. This company should be ashamed of itself. If you can avoid their car parks, please do — their practices are unfair, exploitative, and deeply stressful.

Absolute thieves, need shutting down

This company needs to be investigated and shut down and fined for criminal activity. They are making money off people in what I believe is an illegal way. I followed the instructions on their sign in a car park in Manchester and paid by phone. The number I called was on a sign with Excel Parking on the top of it. I followed the prompts and paid the fee. A fine of £60 comes in the mail a couple days later saying I didn't pay and display. There was nothing to display. When I appealed they said I needed a VAT receipt even though I showed proof of payment and the phone call to the number on their sign, plus attached a picture of the sign. When I called the help number on the same sign it was to Excel parking! They said to call a company called CP Plus to get a VAT receipt. Again, I pulled into the car park and called a number of on an Excel parking sign with the instructions that said "haven't got change? Call this number". There was no human to speak to about a vat receipt so I've had to pay the fine because they said they would go to debt collection and I'm buying a house so can't afford for that to happen. But this company is into something illegal and I'm going to keep pushing to see how to get the word out and get something done for other people ripped off by these thieves. Am going to reach out to Watchdog and and an Obudsman for whatever it might lead to. The comments from countless other reviews make me realise it's certainly not just me

Avoid this carpark like the plague

Avoid this carpark like the plague. Their T&C's apparently state that you need to input your reg plate into the machine when paying, yet the machine allows you to pay without doing this and their appeal system takes no consideration of this. Their fines are extortionate: more than 20 times the cost of parking. They're bunch of greedy capitalist pigs.

Evil & Disgusting company

Zero understanding or compassion, and it would appear a zero understanding of their own T&Cs on site.

The CEO should be ashamed and I’m not sure how he sleeps at night.

DISGRACE!!!!!
I was at Bristol airport and they issued a fine of £100 because I had entered the wrong car park. I pulled over briefly for the car behind to pass safely so that I could turn around. They fined me for stopping in a 'No stopping area' I DID NOT STOP!!!! I pulled over for the car behind to enter the car park.
Absolute joke, should be ashamed.

Confusing signage

Confusing signage, app failure, and no consideration for disabled users

I received a £100 charge from Excel Parking at Bryan House car park after staying slightly beyond the hour I had paid for. I entered at 17:30, paid £1.70, and believed (as had always been the case) that parking after 6pm was free — which it used to be. What wasn’t made clear is that Excel had recently changed the rules, adding a £2.50 evening rate from 6pm to 6am. This was not properly signposted, and the tariff bands are presented in a confusing, poorly designed layout that’s easy to misread, especially at transitional times.

I have autism and rely on the Connect Cashless Parking app, which their signage explicitly instructs drivers to use. On the day, the app failed to load the location at all, then crashed. This app is my primary method for managing parking due to accessibility needs — it helps me with structure, clarity, and reminders. When it failed, I paid manually at the machine — again, in good faith. Despite this, Excel rejected my appeal and demanded £60–£100.

On top of that, the tariffs shown in the app are different (and cheaper) than the ones on the sign in the car park. When i went on the app a few days later, entered start time as 17:49pm for 1 hour parking, it charged me only £1.50 and did not take into account the tariff change from 6pm. This adds even more confusion and makes it impossible to be sure you’re paying the right amount — especially when the app doesn’t match the posted rules and isn’t functional.

Their tone in the response was appalling — robotic, dismissive, and completely lacking in empathy. They ignored that I had paid, that I have a disability, that the app they promoted was broken, and that the tariff change was new and unclear. I even offered to pay the full £2.50 to cover the session (25 minutes), but they still pursued the charge.

I will never use any Excel Parking site again, and I urge others to avoid them — especially if you are neurodivergent or rely on clear, consistent systems. This company has a terrible reputation for a reason, and sadly, my experience confirms it. They do not act in good faith and should not be entrusted with public parking management.

I would score a no star review if I…

I would score a no star review if I were able to, be warned of this company and their managed carparks. We stopped in Menai Shopping centre multi storey LL57 2DD carpark for 20 minutes. In this time we made every attempt possible to pay for parking, we did not leave the car and were in the carpark the entire time. All machines were out of order, the phone payment line did not work and the help button in the carpark took us through a parking attendant who advised he had nothing to do with payments. We then left to look for another parking space, this was found behind this multi storey, (FOR FREE) then we had the PCN arrive. I told them on our appeal to check their cameras as we were there the whole time, they refused my appeal and did not acknowledge any of the evidence I submitted with the appeal. This company should be investigated as this case is the same as many more!!! I have looked into this and this has been happening for months at the same location and most likely lots of other places too. Absolutely shocking they are legally getting away with this fraudulent behaviour to honest people.
