I used Expedia first in about 2006, and it was a disaster in Montreal. But recently I travelled to the UK, and their advertised price, compared to the hotel itself, made me try again. Once again.. Iss... See more

BAD experience with Expedia

I booked with expedia for a hotel thinking it was in Canadian dollars (it was a Canadian hotel and I was booking from Canada). Turned out it was in USD and it was not clear. After a lot of complaining (with a challenging customer service process), and having to escalate it, they finally gave me onekey cash. Then, when I went to use the onekey cash for a flight, it wouldn't work. The service rep said it's easier to use onekey cash for hotel. But I rarely stay in hotels so I doubt I can use this credit. Onekey is a scam because it is the partner (airline, hotel) that seems to have to absorb the cost of the onekey, rather than expedia. What a scam. I will NEVER book with Expedia again. It was a terrible experience

Expedia scams people

Expedia charged me in u.s. funds for a room in Canada and charged almost $100 more than the going rate. They refuse to refund me even though I requested it within 15 minutes of booking. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA.

We booked a rental car and when we showed up to pickup, they had no cars available. The website is saying there are currently 32 cars available through the evening, but we are here now and they closed 10 minutes ago and there are no cars.

Mistake clicking on the wrong dates

I had a problem with my booking and pressed the wrong dates for my hotel without cancelation insurance. I noticed it right away after my reservation confirmation went through. So I called Expedia immediately. Charles was my customer service representative. He was able to fix my problem with no issues. He was amazing! He was empathetic to my situation, professional, polite and friendly. I want to thank him for his assistance in helping to fix my mistake. He took all of my stress away.

Expedia stole my money

Expedia stole my money. I booked a fully refundable reservation, they refunded $30 less than what they charged me. Tried to speak to their customer service team who continually cut me off and tried to end the chat constantly saying there’s no issue. Never helped me. Said it was my banks fault. Yeah ok. These people are thieves. Never use them.

What a great experience

What a great experience!
Truly I don't know the last time I had such excellent customer service. Waiting times, yes, but the end result is what counts (at least for me). I definitely will use expedia.ca again for future trips. Even though the customer service was excellent, there was no way for me to reach someone while I was in a foreign country and had to make changes to my travel plans. This why I only gave four stars instead of five.

I couldn't make my trip and had paid insurance. It is nearly 4 months of emailing and getting no reply after the 1st acknowledgment saying someone will be in touch within 72 hours. Customer service is beyond poor, bordering on scammers!

Booking Mistakes with Expedia Canada leading to unpleasant experiences during vacation time

The accuracy of the booking of my recent trip to Jamaica, completed through Expedia Canada was an ordeal.
A stayed at a Riu Palace Aquarelle with family, vacation booked three months in advance, and a process that supposed to go smooth and filled with excitement turned into a very unpleasant experience. We arrived at the hotel, I was presented with errors in the booking where Expedia had submitted my 10 years old child as an Infant, it had charged full amount for the booking, including my child, then the hotel charged me $830 cad extra on top of the full amount charged by Expedia at the time of check in, claiming that there was an error on the info they had received from Expedia. I paid the amount as we had travelled all the way, I submitted a claim the same day to Expedia, spent much time back and forth with virtual agents/ customers service, received an email from Expedia group saying they were looking into the issue and that I did not needed to reply to the email and I should wait for them to contact me again, and I have not heard from them since March 29th. Today is April 7th. It was a very difficult situation and I must say that reception desk at Riu Palace were very polite and accommodating with our family and they made our stay very pleasant, still they needed to charge me the money as it was not a hotel mistake. Not recovering yet from that situation, when ready to do the online check in with Porter Airline on our return connection from Toronto to Winnipeg, we encountered that Expedia had sent the wrong information again to the Airline, this time, they had entered my child as an adult, and I could not complete the full online check in, which created a big problem, as we had to go through customs at Pearson, and do a check in process in person with Porter agent at their Kiosk, meaning, we have to go through security system again when we could have gone straight to connecting flights area if we could have completed the online check in and save us time and energy. Porter Airline service at kiosk was absolutely amazing and they helped us to correct the issue, but the agent explained that this situation could have caused bigger issues if the flight would have been booked as an international flight. Two big mistakes that dragged us with money, service, and a very unpleasant experience during our vacation time. Two teachers in the family that suppose to travel with peace of mind but Expedia mistakes gave us two big hiccups this time. I won't book any trip, or use any Expedia service ever again, nor my family. 🥲🥲🥲

I rented a room for 5 days and have to leave 2 days sooner because of my work. I checked out earlier and i have to chat with Expedia because i leave sooner (not an easy way and a fast way 2x45min).
And finally Expedia told me they can refund me the 2 days. I was very disappointed

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA

DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA. Expedia claims to be there to help when issues arise with your booking but they are not. If any issues they'll make you do everything to rectify issue and promise credits for your next booking where they couldn't help. Than say sorry we can't give you anything. Also the communication internally in there company is horrendous. You'll end up speaking to multiple agents which have no idea about conversations previously. They try to make you get frustrated and quit. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. You're much better off taking the time booking all items yourself. You'll save time, money and frustration. Holidays are not supposed to be like this continually but Expedia makes sure they are.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Also broke Canadian law (Competition Act). We rented a vehicle off site from the airport. When we went to pick up the car, the rental company advised me of a 2500 USD hold for insurance deposit in case of a collision. That was never disclosed when renting through Expedia and when I called to address this they said it’s in the fine print. This is called drip pricing which is an offence under the Consumer Protection Act in Canada. Basically the customer service manager’s attitude was too bad so sad. I couldn’t even get a refund without having to jump through hoops. I have filed a complaint with the Competition Bureau regarding Expedia’s deceptive practices. Be cautious when renting a vehicle through Expedia.

I used to use expedia for everything

I used to use expedia for everything. Then a problem came up with a flight refund and I lost $800 due to misleading website content. They told me to pound sand. There are a lot of different options out there and I have cancelled all my existing expedia bookings for an upcoming trip. Stay away from Travelocity, orbitz , vrbo, cheaptickets, hotwire and hotels.com - same ownership group. If the bot replies to this and says they want to help resolve the issue - they dont. They already told me to go away.

Scam

Scam. Booked a 2 way flight from Toronto to Alberta a few years ago. Checkout price was supposed to be $800, but on my credit card statement I saw they charged me $1300. When I called to complain about this, they were very defensive and would only offer me $200 in Expedia credit. Never using this site again.

Nightmare! STAY AWAY

I asked for the most basic change—move my rental to a different date but somehow that was “impossible.” They refused. Wouldn’t help. Kept sending emails saying ‘we’re here to help you” so when I said, ok then help me, they said “no we can’t”

They said I can PAY to cancel my reservation, lol, OR, if I just don’t show up, there’s no penalty.

Customer service kept saying “THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING”—even though there was nothing to understand except how unhelpful and inflexible they were being. Everyone working there is an absolute psychopath. Do yourself a favorite and rent all your cars directly from Enterprise.

I had an extremely disappointing and…

I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Expedia.

While I was in Turkey, I became seriously ill and urgently needed help with my flight. Instead of receiving support, I was met with rude and unhelpful customer service. I provided a doctor’s note to explain my situation, but my request was rejected without any clear reason.

What made this even worse is that there was no clear policy on their website explaining why my request would be denied. I was left completely unsupported during a very difficult time.

As a result, I ended up paying twice for my flight, and I still have an unused ticket that Expedia did nothing to help me with. This caused me both financial loss and unnecessary stress.

This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any travel service. I strongly do not recommend Expedia to anyone.
