Took my money, didn't provide any service

I purchased a return ticket from Canada to Australia through Expedia. The airline had staffing trouble while I was in Australia and wasn't able to get me back. Expedia just said bad luck, even though we took your money, we will not help you at all. We won't refund you and we won't get you back to Canada or provide any assistance.

I will never give these clowns any of my money ever again

Expedia allows fake hotels such as…

Expedia allows fake hotels such as Midtown East Luxury & Comfort to be listed on its website, even the address (164 E 53rd St. New York) and pictures provided by the hotel are completely fake. Expedia only cares about making money and doesn't care about the customer at all!

Expedia = crooks

First, good luck trying to actually speaking to a human when u have a complaint. I had to go looking to finally find an email to chat with someone. At the end I basically got a “sucks to be you” response.
Second, if you do start an email chat, it won’t likely end with a favorable decision. During my recent/final interaction with Expedia, I received replies from several different people & the answers were not consistent. My complaint was being charged in US dollars even though when I booked it said “CA” which I took for Canadian dollars. One of the replies said I was actually billed in Brazilian dollars…wtf? Where did that come from? Another said “yes, CA means Canadian but that’s not what ended up happening. Sorry for the confusion”. So instead of paying ~$2,450 as I should have, I’m out $3,700!!!! Expedia = crooks!

I booked a car rental through Expedia

I booked a car rental through Expedia. The rental car needed service. The rental car company entered a three day credit because of this issue. I watched the manager enter the credit in the computer. The rental company warned there were issues with Expedia delaying refunds and they were prepared to issue a credit directly. I instructed to just put it through Expedia. No credit so I contacted Ecpefia. Expedia refused refund and said the rental company didn’t authorize a credit and repeatedly refused. I had to ask to speak to a supervisor but ultimately Expedia just issued a credit. It’s taken over a month. Expedia did fix it but it took effort and threats by me.

We rented a car for our stay in Sao…

We rented a car for our stay in Sao Miguel through Expedia and opted for the insurance they offered. What they don't explain that this insurance is double jeopardy in that the event of an accident I have to pay all damages with car rental agency and then hope for refund from their insurance provider. If this was disclosed from the onset I would've declined. I did try to cancel before renting but it didn't go through. As well it wasn't clear if I should've been able to qualify for the insurance as I was over 70. What the car rental agency offers was far superior and less costly over all. Will never use Expedia for anything again as they just want your money and no chance for customer service.

I will never use expedia again

I will never use expedia again. I booked a hotel through their website that had free cancelation. The day after I booked I canceled...a week before reservation. The next day they charged my card. After calling they told me the hotel took the money and they have a no cancelation policy and it was a glitch in expedia website. After a week of back and forth emails they finally tell me they will refund. Then two days later another email saying they won't. It's been a nightmare.

Scammed

We were booked in to a hotel in Charlottetown, PEI. I got covid and called Expedia to see if we would cancel as we just wanted to go home. They said yes, I needed to cancel the entire booking and then renew a booking for just the two nights needed. They took care of all of this for me and said I would get a refund within six weeks. That did not happen. I followed up 12 weeks later, and the person on the phone was concerned I had been scammed. She said she'd sent it up the chain of command for investigation. I have heard nothing since. I am out about $750.

Expedia's Virtual Agents try to scam people!

Their virtual agent "Ahmed" told me in capital letters that my flights were "NON-REFUNDABLE". This was after I had paid for the "refundable option minus a $175 fee per round-trip ticket. I later contacted Expedia to speak to a person. I got a refund for both flights minus the $175 per ticket.

Flexways Fraud: Stranded, Lied To, and Abandoned by Expedia

Flexways Fraud: Stranded, Lied To, and Abandoned by Expedia
I recently had the worst car rental experience of my life booking a Flexways rental car through Expedia, and I feel compelled to warn everyone—stay far away from Flexways, Victory Rental Car, and any of these sketchy, non-brand-name rental agencies that have been popping up everywhere. They’re scammers, plain and simple, and Expedia was absolutely no help either.
Weeks before my trip in March 2025, I prepaid for a full-size SUV through Expedia, thinking I was dealing with a reputable company that had my back. Big mistake. After arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, I received an email from Flexways instructing me to call a number—no toll-free option provided—to arrange a pickup. So, I called this regular number from my phone, racking up charges on my dime. A guy answered and asked where I was. I told him I’d just picked up my baggage on the ground floor. He then told me to go up to the second floor and call him back. First red flag—why couldn’t he just send someone to where I was?
Fine. Two minutes later, I’m on the second floor, calling him again. He says someone will pick me up in 10 minutes. Sure enough, 10 minutes later, a guy pulls up in what’s clearly his personal car—not a shuttle, not a branded vehicle, just some random sedan. Red flag number two: I later find out the number they give customers is his personal cell phone. Unprofessional doesn’t even begin to cover it.
We make small talk on the way to the rental agency, and I assume he’s just the car jockey. I’m about to tip him when he casually says, “I’ll be inside in a moment to get you your full-size SUV.” Red flag number three: this guy isn’t just the driver—he’s apparently the entire operation. Inside, there’s a tiny counter, and it’s clear he’s a one-man show. He immediately starts pressuring me to buy insurance for $45 for three days and another $45 for a toll transponder. I explain that I prepaid for insurance through Expedia, and I’m also double-covered through my credit card and home insurance policy—more than enough protection. He flat-out lies to my face, saying, “Those don’t count; it’s the law in Florida that you have to buy insurance from me.” That’s nonsense—I’ve rented cars for 40 years and know better.
I ask to see the “full-size SUV” I booked. He takes me outside, and it’s a small SUV—nothing close to what I paid for. I tell him no way, this isn’t what I reserved. His response? “Well, then you can go back to the airport.” He refuses to drive me back, leaving me stranded. After waiting outside for 30 minutes, I finally catch a shuttle from a neighboring rental agency just to get back to the airport. I end up renting from a legitimate company there, but now I’m out the money for the Flexways rental I never even used.
I call Expedia to report this nightmare and demand a refund. After an hour on the phone, they say they can’t reach Flexways. Three days later, same story—no progress, no refund. It’s looking like I’m stuck paying for two rentals—one I never picked up and one I had to book to salvage my trip. Expedia, who I thought I was booking through and could trust to back me up, did absolutely nothing to help.
In 40 years of renting cars all over the world, I’ve never been ripped off this badly. Flexways is a scam, these off-brand agencies are predatory, and Expedia is useless when things go wrong. My advice? Book directly with a reputable company and avoid these middlemen and shady outfits at all costs. Never again!

Terrible Response Time

We cancelled our flights after airline changes beyond our control and after 9 months we still have not gotten a refund. After countless inquiries all we get is stock responses. Dont use Expedia, when things go wrong they just keep putting you off.

Expedia's system charged my bank account 3 times for a flight that it did not book.

I tried to book a flight on Expedia, the credit card transaction failed 3 times, and I was given a message to try again in a few minutes. It looked like a time out or a postal code error (my postal code was recently changed by Canada Post). Apparently the system was charging my card each time it failed. I was using a Visa Debit. It took hundreds of dollars out of my bank account for a flight that it did not book. It charged my bank account 3 times for my flight. I now am out of pocket thousands of dollars waiting for them to reimburse me. Apparently they put a hold on my card 3 times and they only remove their credit cards holds weekly, so it will be at least 5 business days before my bank account is refunded. In the meantime, I am supposed to be flying out in 4 days for work, I still do not have a flight and now my bank account is overdrawn, so I don't have the funds to purchase a flight thru a different travel service. I now have to borrow the funds to buy my flight and the cost has gone up, so it will be another $100 out of pocket for the flight, plus bank fees for the overdrawn and it has left me short cash at the end of the month and for my trip. When I spoke too Expedia's "customer service" they seemed to think that since the money would be eventually refunded, then it was no big deal and that they didn't even owe me an apology. Apparently some of their travel partners do not accept VISA debit, so this happens frequently. There is no warning on the website not to use a VISA Debit, nor does the failure message match what is actually happening. I book a lot of travel and it has been a while since I used Expedia. NEVER AGAIN.

Expedia booked a vacation package for…

Expedia booked a vacation package for me and my wife- we both ended up sitting near the back of the plane in separate seats/rows. Then I asked for a Full Size Rental Car similar to an SUV and ended up almost getting rented a Mini Cooper. Fought with the car rental company for an Upgrade of which they charged me $25 US Dollars per day which I had to fight to get my money back. Then to top it all off now I'm fighting to get my money back from the hotels that I booked thru Hotels.com which Expedia owns. Just a really frustrating/aggravating experience. They charge your Credit Card immediately but then it takes up to 3 months- lots of phone calls and wasted time arguing and fighting to get your Refunds back on your Credit Card. I will not use Expedia.ca EVER AGAIN. I thought they would make my vacation planning easy and it instead ending up being nothing more than a nightmare.

Booked a car rental

Booked a car rental. It was the wrong size so the agent cancelled it for me and I booked a different size vehicle. The refund from the cancellation was very challenging to get. It took multiple chats, emails and 4 weeks for expedia to acknowledge that they screwed up. Such a terrible company. Customer service is the worst.

Negative stars!!!!

Im not sure how we cant leave negative stars. I booked a room thru expedia in Montreal for 3 days approx 12 days in advance and paid the 21 bux for insurance as well. I got very sick the weekend before I was going so I thought I should cancel 3 days in advance. I was told I wouldnt be getting a refund and I was very upset especially since I paid the insurance and gave 3 days notice...plus i should also mention i was also told I couldnt UNcancel my reservation either. So....not only could I not get a refund, I also could not go to Montreal for the 3 days. I then called my Mastercard bank and they said I had to wait til the day after the original reservation to dispute the charges. Meanwhile, I told the very first customer service agent I had a brain injury and I couldnt read the tiny screen very well and also couldnt understand some of the things they were saying. I called the Hotel myself and was told for sure you can have your original reservation back. No idea why expedia gave me such a hard time. Guess I will be going to Montreal pretty sick...blah

I contacted Expedia to change my hotel stay

I contacted Expedia to change my hotel booking in Mexico from 11 days to 5 days. They said they changed it and I was charged, when I arrived for the full 11 days. $200 per day for a hotel in Barra De Navidad is ridiculous. I contacted Expedia and they said there was no information in my booking with regards to the change. I will NEVER deal with any online booking of trips again.

Booked 2 legs of a flight, one was flying on a bus???

Booked 2 legs of a flight. Both legs identified flight time. After inquiring about length of second leg, it was noted that it was a bus. Only if you checked further into managing the itinerary it listed a bus. Very misleading. The Expedia manager and agent at customer service repeatedly tried to get me off the phone stating your trip is confirmed and have a good trip. There needs to be full disclosure prior to booking.
