.First Tutors provide an excellent service in matching students to tutors. I have used them for about 10 years and found them to be professional, fair and reliable.

I have been a tutor with First Tutors for about nine years. It has been a positive experience throughout that time. Communication with the client is always straightforward and nearly always ends up with a match. I don’t think I have ever had to ask for their help which says much about the way their system works. I have never felt the need to try another platform.

Goof platform, although when I’ve hired a tutor myself, I have paid for their details and then they did not do the job as planned. I asked for a credit but there was no further news on this.

I have only received one client in 10 months.

I have been a tutor with First Tutors since 2013. They answer any queries I have almost immediately and I love the fact that it is a flat fee upfront for parents/ tutees. I have come off another platform as the additional fees for tutees were astronomical and the platform
wanted tutors to reduce their fees ! Not a win win for anyone , other than the company .

I have been a tutor with First Tutors for a decade. They are the only agency I would entertain as a tutor. Their team are unfailingly efficient, helpful, prompt and courteous. Their business model is utterly fair and transparent and enables semi-retired tutors like myself to charge affordable, reasonable rates to students (and their parents), unlike several organisations which take excessive cuts in commission from tutors. FT's range of resources is broad and easy to navigate. I heartily recommend this agency, especially to those thinking of going it alone for the first time.

First Tutors is the best platform I've used for obtaining clients. Their business model works well and they have quick and responsive customer service except in one regard. If a spiteful 'client' leaves an untrue negative review - the platform won't help.

I've been listed on the First Tutors for a number of years and have been very happy with the quality and commitment of the students that have found me via the website. First Tutors is very fair in terms of commission, and unlike other tutoring websites, doesn't charge a large percentage of each and every lesson. This allows the tutor to charge a fairer rate to the student and to be remunerated properly for each lesson. I'm happier, the student is happier!

This is a very handy platform for parents to connect with tutors offering their services, for a nominal fee. However, like any strangers posting online, you do have to be very careful to ask all the right questions to check you're definitely getting what you're looking for.

Although First Tutors ask whether tutors have a valid DBS certificate or not, they won't relay this information on their visible profile so, for child safety, I encourage parents to check. For in-person lessons, it can also be quite convoluted calculating travel times across cities, as First Tutors don't allow any postcode sharing until AFTER a commitment and payment have been made.

The big benefits of the platform are that parents avoid on-going agency percentages, all lesson fees go to the tutors and they have freedom over what they offer. Also, although an online service, I do find if you have to contact First Tutors, you do get a direct personal response from an actual human being!

I am a tutor and have been using this platform for over a year. I did find and keep several students from there.

A week ago a new parent reached out. I always offer a free online assessment as step1: First to assess level and also to give both sides the chance to be comfortable with one another.

This particular parent, ignored multiple times and dates for an assessment and despite several requests, never shared his email, phone or son's name. Yet upon joining he has my phone, email and address. For starters, home address should only be shared once the tutor selects, to maximise tutor safety.

For my own safety, I do not allow anyone to come to my apt. before speaking to them. He said he would call on a particular day but disappeared for a few more days.

I had seen a few red flags in the correspondence and politely suggested he find another tutor and mentioned he would not need to pay the platform fee again - just ask to switch out tutor.

He then 'hit the roof', became quite offensive and instantly wrote a negative review. I had a perfect profile with all 5 star reviews; some written after a year of classes. He ruined it. Trying to hide his comment is useless as it still shows a negative review.

Reviews should start from when classes start and not prior. The site refused to take it down.

So anyone can sign up, write a negative review and disappear. Students from other platforms and referrals are unable to leave reviews. This creates unnecessary bias. Referrals could easily prove they are students by material etc.

As for their platform, their general interface is below par. Many times I suggested adjustments but nothing changes.

Through First Tutors I have made contact with several students in the local area and online who have become regular clients. The site is relatively easy to use, and the one-off introduction fee charged to students before exchanging contact details is simple and more affordable than an ongoing commission.

Yes there’s other sites to find tutors, but they don’t seem to have the quality of professional First Tutors has, hence, it’s the best site for tutors to receive genuinely favourable leads and the best for parents/carers to source great educators.

I am a maths tutor and I have been with First Tutors for more than 10 years. They have always provided me with a consistent supply of quality students. The site is easy to use for both student and tutor alike . They only charge a one off very reasonable payment so there is no reason not to use them . For me, over the years they have been the most consistent and reliable site to use. There are very rarely any issues, but if there are any they are resolved quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend First Tutors whether you are a student or a tutor.
