We were recommended FISKEBAR. by our hotel - Hotel FRANQ. We had the crab cakes and fish of the day- all exceptional. It was so good we cancelled our reservation for another restaurant to rebook. So we’d heard of this place for a while now and wanted to give it a go. Luckily we had an early evening booking on a Tuesday.
Staff were great, perhaps a little serious, but efficient and knowledgeable.
The interior was in-line with the meat packing history of the building.
The food really was sublime. Of particular note was the full turbot which was fresh and sweet.
Perhaps the biggest pill to swallow was the cost. And I suspect that is an often mentioned concern. But they too are a busy business and I really do think you get what you pay for. If you are looking for takeaway fish and chips, this is not your place to eat. But if you want the best of the best, I think you have found it.
We arrived late (22.00) and did not expect anything as things were clearly busy. Rene said it would be OK, but he never said we would get Maria as our server.
Well, it turned out that we got a culinary guide! Maria was fantastic in every way. First she was attentive to how long we had waited. Second she guided us expertly through the menu. Thirdly she followed up in between each course. All standard stuff you might say, but she did it in a way that made my wife and I seem special.
Kudos to Maria. We will certainly come back but only if Maria is on duty!
The food was NOT good. We were 4 people that ordered lobster. However the lobster was cooked so it tasted of gasoline. We told the waitress and instead w e got fish. But the fish was too salty. The wine was average and a male waiter was typically Copenhagen arrogant and not serviceminded at all. I can't recommend this place to anyone that wants good seafood or fish or white wine.
The food at Fiskebaren is really good. Location nice and cool. But then what is breaking the picture completely is the service level. Rude, arrogant and not at all knowledge staff. Really disapoing experience
