Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 57 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the website to be broken, slow, and full of glitches, making it difficult to navigate and use effectively. Customers also reported significant issues with their accounts, including unexpected deletions and problems with accessing their photos and profiles. The subscription model was a major point of frustration, with many feeling harassed to buy a Pro account only to experience a decline in service, such as frozen view numbers and increased ads. Some people were dissatisfied with the product itself, noting that the quality had declined and that the platform allowed inappropriate content like avatars instead of real photographs. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the site was easy to use and great for organizing and curating photos, appreciating features like multi-album and collection grouping.

Worst photo site ever

Worst photo site ever. Frequent "bad bad panda" outages.

Extort money to allow you to keep photos stored on site then ban you without warning for storing images that are not your own. They are, some are missing exif data because I scanned from 35mm negatives.

No refund of my pro subscription, no right to appeal. Truly dreadful way to treat customers.

Legit* theft

Imagine that you are a hobbyist who used this site to upload several of 1000 of photos for your sport club. All of a sudden they give you an ultimatum: pay us or we will remove your photos. What a great way to treat your customers... Never again will I use Flickr.

Very angry customer

I had a paid account with Flikr and they closed my account after one one of my full payment for 2nd year. They said that I have violated their policies. When I asked for how, they didn’t reply.

I had another free account and today I received another email saying I have violated their policies. I am suspecting they force their clients to subscribe to become a paid membership, which is not right.🤬🤬🤬

It ain't what it used to be

It ain't what it used to be

Flickr is very hostile to its clients and threatens them if they don't pay the subscription, their "moderated" content will be deleted. Absolutely awful policy.
No new features, login and stability problems.

generally very good, but too expensive

I've been on Flickr since 2008, and generally I really like it. I take photos for my local rugby club, and using Flickr means fans, players, sponsors etc can help themselves to full sized high res versions of my images without the need for me to send failed emails or get involved in any way at all.

I've deducted a star because they more than doubled their prices in 2019 and the Pro membership is no longer a great deal. There are occasional bugs, but they usually get fixed. But in general, this is still a great place for pro or serious amateur photographers like me to store and display their photos.

Flickr Pro in my opinion is a wonderful…

Flickr Pro in my opinion is a wonderful site to showcase my professional photos and be seen around the world by adding images to groups. My following has grown fairly well in 3 years. My college teacher recommended it for his students to add photos for his course in a group (members in this specific group are only classmates) which was a great idea. The pro member account is not expensive and it has great analytics for this to help you rate your own work and see which photos excel and why. Many of the world's best photographers are on this site. Those few complaining in reviews need to remember only to post their best work (not everything) and use the site properly as recommended to see results. Highly recommended for the free or pro account. Send links of your own work (copy the line from top address bar) to clients to use it as a portfolio showcase. People have to remember to do their own marketing to sell their work and have their photos on multiple sites, and Flickr Pro is one of the best to choose. Have your photos on Flickr and also your website also is recommended for success.

Not for Business Or Deadline Scenarios

Made the mistake of thinking Flickr might be a cheap option for a commercial web site. Bought in just before going on vacation and unloading a truck of inventory. On my return I had to spend 7 days and over 100 hours unpacking, organizing and doing a big spread sheet on damage and missing inventory. The warehouse demands pictures of each damaged piece so I thought it would be convenient to insert hyperlinks into my Libre Office Spread Sheet to photos at the damage file when I load it into Flickr. What a nightmare! I kept getting "timed out" messages and files simply would not upload. Then I would be prompted to delete the offending files so the others would upload. Then the group file would fail to upload again because one or a group "timed out." What's with this timed out nonsense? So I deleted my account. Flickr may be good for casual users that can wait around all day. Now I have to burn the pictures on disc and do a mail report because I don't have time to research a picture host that doesn't suck with upload problems. Unusual since I did a preliminary load of 56 files without a hitch to test the service. I thought I had this part of my master plan mapped out for my new start-up before I went on vacation. But I don't have time for the site to straighten itself out. And I can't have a service that only works some of the time. Especially when I'm filing a claim. This isn't a casual thing where I'm uploading vacation photos of the kids and there's no deadline to get it done. For that, I'm sure Flickr is great. I see the reviews and many people like it. But for business? Absolutely not.

Scam?

This company has charged me $100/year for the PRO version. Since Feb 2020, Flickr "engineers" have been unable to resolve the multiple technical issues with their website, rendering the PRO version useless. In April 2020, Flickr promised a refund for services not provided, yet they continue to charge my credit card the yearly $100. As of September 2021, Flickr has not issued a refund. I have tried to contact Flickr several times since Feb 2021 and Flickr has not made any attempt to contact me since. My credit card company was unable to make contact with Flickr as well and I had to obtain a new credit card number in order for Flickr to cease these fraudulent charges.
I am writing this review as a warning for others.

Completely unprofessional, don't waste your time and money.

Completely unprofessional. I accidentally uploaded some inappropriate pictures while backing up my phone. I simply overlooked this but Flickr deleted my account without any warning. I lost thousands of pictures of my travels and of family. They won't at the very least restore my account so that I can retrieve my valuable pics. Years of pictures of my travels and my nieces and nephews gone just like that. I guess they need to punish me for simply not unchecking a file on phone.
