FNBO is an interest-grubbing financial institution

FNBO is an interest-grubbing institution thinly disguised as a people-centric bank with conservative lending standards. My temporary APR reduction to 6% for a credit card was cancelled and the usurious APR of 26% reinstated within a month of starting the interest reduction program because I made a duplicate payment and called FNBO to reverse the extra payment. After telling me it was perfectly acceptable within the program and giving precise instructions to institute the reversal with my bank, FNBO used the duplicate payment reversal as grounds to end the APR reduction, erroneously calling the reversed payment an insufficient funds return! This demoralized bank intends to turn consumer debt into forever debt actually working against you paying off the debt so their greed tactics can suck you dry financially. THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE REALLY DOING.

This place is so shady

This place is so shady. I got a pool loan and trying to pay extra each month to principle. When you make your payment there is no option to pay extra to principle. Call in and they want to give you the run around about it that they will put in a support ticket but it’s up to support if they will move the payment to princ. And they wont do it every month. They do it this way because they can keep charging you more on interest since your principle is not going down. If you are not behind they shouldn’t dictate how you want your payment allocated. They just want to make as much interest off of you are they can. Not to mention when they first payment to the pool builder is paid you now have the full amount of the loan accruing interest even though they didn’t pay it yet.

Carrie, we appreciate you taking the time to voice your concerns. When making payments in excess of the minimum on your loan, any excess amount should be applied to the principal balance of the loan automatically. If you are not seeing your extra payments applied to the principal amount, you can call us at 800-642-0014, or submit a secure message from our website, and we will be happy to help.

FNBO mgm iconic card bait and switch

I am a FNBO mgm elite card holder. I started receiving emails about upgrading to iconic card. They will waive the annual fee. If I spend $5000 in three months I get 25000 their credit increase. I spent $5000 then they tell me that if I am not eligible for the their credit cause I was an elite card holder. That wasn't told to me before only after I agreed to the iconic card and spent the money. Bait and switch. That is also why they have a 1 star rating. They must really suck. I also complained to mgm. Tainted by association

Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to voice your concerns. Wish I could give 0 stars

Wish I could give 0 stars. They are constantly resequencing my account from smallest transactions to largest. I don’t have overdraft protection because I want the transactions to decline if the money is not there ( I always know how much money I have and don’t spend what is not there because I can’t, by design!) but they resequencing my transactions from smallest to biggest and bam……all of a sudden my account shows -500 so the deposit I made off 250 that I needed to spend not only goes straight to them but I’m still left negative. I’m collecting information on these crooks and will be looking to report to the CFPB and looking into an attorney. They straight steal your money every chance they get, talk to you like your stupid when you go in to talk to them about it, and somehow it’s your fault….. No I’m through with it. I’m going to do everything in my power to expose these fraudsters and get My hard earned money back. They are lucky nobody have caused physical harm to anyone yet, you mess with people’s money and livelihood and and steal from them and you can only expect it to happen. I don’t condone violence but I would not be surprised to see bankers get hurt because of their “transaction process”. They change the days my deposits happen, change orders of debit buys all to make my account in the negative as much as possible. Really shady and I think illegal practices happening at this bank.

We have been on time with payments and we had a 7k limit and they decided because our credit score dropped ever so slightly, to lower the credit limit to all but just $100 over our current balance!!!! Oh, and customer service was telling us it wouldn't have an effect on our credit score to lower a limit more than $5k!!!!! This has affected our credit score. We will pay the remaining off and will NEVER do business with them again. Loyalty doesn't seem to matter and this bank is garbage

Lower interest rates

When calling to check about lower interest rates, because I get offers all the time to transfer open balances for a lower rate. I was told that I could not get a lower rate. This does not seem fair for someone with outstanding credit scores, and a long time card holder.

No one was willing to look into this matter either. If you can offer incredible transfer fees. Why not offer lower interest rates to long time card holders. This can increase happy customers and keep them as customers.

Sometimes life gets hard and balances buildup because of this. Having lower interest rates can help them out. Up until a year ago, I never had an outstanding balance. But several things happened and now I am working hard making several payments a month to get my balance paid off. What can be done to help.

800+ Score, Zero Respect: My Scenic Ride to Disappointment

I boarded the FNBO Amtrak Rewards card train with cautious optimism and a paid annual ticket, ready to earn travel points and cruise through credit bliss. Two years later? I’m still standing on the platform holding a useless card, no rewards redeemed, and a fresh hard inquiry for the audacity of requesting a limit increase.

I wasn’t denied for poor credit -- my score was over 800. I wasn’t maxed out, late, or risky. I was just, apparently, too optimistic. Which is wild considering they approved my card in the first place. Bold of you, FNBO.

But the best part? When I initially applied for this card, the application duplicsted and they pulled my credit twice. All due to a glitch in their system, that I was neither warned about nor compensated for. So now I have two inquiries, no increase, and a renewed commitment to never recommend this card to anyone who values their credit, time, or sanity.

Amtrak may run late, but FNBO? They never even showed up.

I’ll be closing this card before the next annual fee hits like a ghost train of regret. Until then, it sits in a drawer next to expired receipts and other things that once had potential.

Unable to Login due to FNBO "Go Paperless" popup

Just as soon as I logged FNBO.com on my phone (I do not use apps) a popup message came up blocking my entire screen with a "Go Paperless Today" advertisement. There were (2) "soft keys" to enroll in paperless BUT NO KEYS to get rid of the advertisement and you could not "swipe" out of it. Your Customer Service Associate kept trying to tell me there was a "soft key" to exit out of the advertisement. THERE IS NO SOFT KEY TO EXIT THE ADVERTISEMENT when I log in on my phone. Your CSA was not interested in reporting this "bug" or accepting any responsibility in reporting it. I CANNOT LOGIN TO MY FNBO ACCOUNT ON MY PHONE. PLEASE FIX!

FNBO refused to correct a banking error…

FNBO refused to correct a banking error that incorrectly debited my account.

When I requested assistance and asked them to correct the banking error and return my money to me, they gave me the runaround, passing me to multiple customer service representatives, each of whom were totally incompetent and who refused to address the issue.

Even after writing a letter to their CEO about the issue, they refused to address my concern.

I then contacted the Nebraska State Attorney General's office, and after that, FNBO responded and corrected their banking error.

Based upon my experience with this business, I do not recommend using them. That is my opinion.

Student

Spoke with someone named Sandi and Cam. I needed assistance with opening an account and understanding alternative requirements in case I couldn't provide an I-20. Hold time was reasonable, and the initial contact was great. The transfer to their dedicated department was quick, and the assistance was clear and detailed. Both representatives were pleasant and fun to speak with.

I was actually surprised—internet reviews had me a bit concerned, but I decided to give them a try because everyone’s situation is different. I’m glad I took that chance and gave them a call. I had a great experience.

I called their main line, and at the end they gave me the direct number for the department I spoke with, just in case I had follow-up questions or my circumstances changed.

Thank you, FNBO! See you guys soon! <3

Can’t transfer in or out of high-yield savings

Opened a high-yield savings account last September. Thankfully only put $1 in to open because there is no way to transfer to or from an external account. So I cannot put more money in and if I had - I would be unable to get it out. I’m so thankful I just opened with the minimum because that $ is lost. Their app has no transfer capability and the new website just links to the old website for transfers because that capability is “coming soon” on the new website. Then the old website just gives you an error message. Since September 2024. You are an online only option for a bank. Transfers to other institutions are essential.

FNBO doesn't allow a transfer from a personal checking account to a business account. Yet, in my business account I can transfer to my personal account no problem. They give the reason due to fraud. Why is there fraud from one way but not the other? Not logical, just an excuse. Then you call to do it over the phone, verify EVERYTHING and then won't allow you to transfer the amount you want, only up to $1000. WHAT?

Do not trust with your hard earned money. You deserve better than what First National bank has to offer you.

Horrible customer service, large fees, hidden fees, and they prey on young people to pressure into a credit card. I am extremely unsatisfied with this bank and after 20 years as a customer I will be taking all of my accounts elsewhere. Please do not trust this bank with your hard earned money.

Erroneously charged money transfer fee!

A week by week transaction I ALWAYS make was suddenly charged in 4/6/25 as a money transfer instead of a charitable contribution. The bank claimed there was something I did that caused this and refused to refund me the $5 money transfer fee. Amtrak making this bank our bank to deal with for credit card rewards was a huge mistake. Credit card processing and handling by this bank is the worse experience ever!!! I've NEVER had anything go right working with this bank. Consumers should choose ANY OTHER BANK other than this one to deal with. I called customer service. The first person couldn't help and neither could a rep named Jibeef.
