Complete Lack of Professionalism

I viewed properties for a half dozen agencies in Brighton and this one was by far the worst. I think a seller would have to be mental to list their property with these dodgy used car salesmen types. It's not just the lack of professionalism among the individuals who work there, but the very culture and structures of the agency itself. To give one example, they send tons of spam after you've already opted out. And to opt out you have to click on one link, that send you a link to another link, and then another link. And even when you spend 10 minutes going through what should be a simple process that they have deliberately made difficult, they STILL send you marketing e-mails.
It's disgusting and disrespectful and is entirely consistent with the shady, classless culture of this agency. If you don't care about ethics or manners, then this is the firm for you.

Selling made easy.....

It was some decades since we had been in the housing market, and selling the house that grandad built was never going to be easy.
Foxs were professional, helpful and true to their word, regular feedback and updates. Rob Mitchell in the Bexhill office was our contact, and he was very good at keeping us informed about what was happening.
Claire Sturland took over the management of the sale earlier this year, and she was a breath of fresh air, so positive and happy to reply to my many messages, and finally the end is here, and we feel happy that Foxs were able and willing to keep the sale on track and ensure any issues were resolved swiftly.

Foxs were excellent, we cant thank them enough...

Harassment, and I would not trust this agent

One request for a viewing, months of cold phone calls, emails and unwanted communications from this harassing agent.
Some of the houses they send you aren't even built yet and in the T&Cs of the listing it says 'Disclaimer - images are CGI and may not be representative'.
I would not trust Fox&Sons with a house sale or purchase.

One star is too generous for the company. After renting out our property through taunton branch, we have suffered immensely from improper responses all the way. They do not read or respond to emails, answer the phone like cowboys.

Would not suggest them even to my worst enemy.

Avoid F&S conveyancing

Do not use Fox & Sons in house conveyancing firm. I’m not a Fox & Sons customer but our buyer is (as that is their agent) and they’ve held up our chain for months. We agreed a sale in October 2024, it was discovered in January 2025 that our buyer needed an amendment to their lease on their leasehold property before they could sell it (a deed of variation) three months later to today, only now has the Fox & Sons conveyancing firm read the leases properly and determined what they need to do and there is still no end in sight. All in our chain has needlessly been put to extra stamp duty cost, the cost of arranging a new mortgage offer because previous ones have expired, we’ve had houses in the chain being re marketed, causing further stress. Our solicitor told me today that they have three chains including ours that are all stuck and going nowhere due to a deed of variation, and guess what, every one of those chains has the same Fox & Sons conveyancing firm handling the deed of variation. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing and I would suggest unless you want to waste your money on delays, and be stressed beyond belief, do not use Fox & Sons in house conveyancing. I don’t normally post reviews, if I get bad service, I simply don’t go back. However, on this occasion, I’m getting bad service that is costing me and others in our chain more money, and there is nothing I can do about it.

DON’T EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR

DON’T EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR
Would NOT recommend fox and sons, especially the Kemp Town branch, Brighton - avoid the illusive Katie at all costs, she not only failed to do our contract correctly, providing us with the wrong energy provider leaving us with a 500 pound bill, tried phoning for a month and was never able to get through and never received a phone back, the initial deposit was calculated wrong and demanded the rest from us with no apology, they booked the PAT test wrong 2 times and then phoned my dad who’s just the guarantor to tell him that I had to be in on the third as it desperately needed to be done ( I was at the house waiting within the 4 hour window twice) - made me feel like a child. I’m a 20 year woman paying my own bills. Still in an ongoing battle with them, they are all nothing but rude and ignore emails and phone calls for ages - AVIOD AT ALL COSTS

Harassment

Harassment doesn't begin to describe my experience with Fox and Sons. I am not even using them to try and sell my house4, and yet they constantly call my mobile and land line. I have blocked several of their numbers - both head office and local (Rottingdean) office. However, yesterday, they turned yup on my door step !!! to hassle me again. Totally unacceptable harassing behaviour. Does that make me want to trust them with my house sale - NO - in fact it has the complete opposite effect.

These people pray on the vulnerable!!

These people pray on the vulnerable!!! Had a viewing at my nans house as she passed away to find the right estate agent. The chap who came round completely under valued the property! So we decided to go for another company. They have been told that we are not going with them. Now they keep on giving my mum NUMEROUS phone calls, trying to find out information of how many viewings the property has had, not listening to her when she says she isn’t interested please stop contacting and they KEEP ON CONTACTING!!!! They do not listen!!!

Serious Data Protection Breaches & Unethical Practices

Fox And Sons Estate Agents in Lewes Road, Brighton have major issues when it comes to client confidentiality and professionalism. I recently received an unsolicited call from their office asking if I wanted to sell a property—a house I don't even own. How did they get my number? Why are they discussing private client information with third parties?

But it doesn't stop there. I’ve witnessed firsthand how certain staff members joke about clients behind their backs, share private property images without consent, and treat personal information with a shocking lack of confidentiality.

Estate agents are supposed to be trusted with sensitive information, yet Fox & Sons clearly have no regard for data protection laws or ethical business practices. If this is how they operate behind closed doors, how can anyone trust them with something as important as selling their home?

⚠️ If you value your privacy, look elsewhere.

Hastings Team are Great

We bought a house thanks to the team at Fox & Sons in Hastings. A big thank you to Curtis for his support throughout the process. There were some tricky issues in the chain which caused significant delays, but Curtis was professional and patient and he kept the sellers reassured and committed. Thank you!

Lazy and incompetent sales agents

I followed their Brighton office marketing recommendations. One viewing in 10 weeks and no follow up worth a damn on that one opportunity. Rely on self serving standard emails saying how big and successful they are, rather than returning calls and emails or answering questions. Tried to obfuscate when I mentioned termination. One to avoid.

Nightmare Agent from Hell - Sequence Homes/Foxs & Sons

Avoid this agency - Fox and Sons and especially Sequence Homes unless you enjoy troublesome management for your property.

We were unfortunate to have appointed Fox & Sons/Sequence Home to manage our property rented out in 2023.

Despite paying for a full management service, we have to deal with different incompetent employees who are unable to service/fix simple problems for our tenants or follow any of our simple instructions.

Throughout the entire tenancy, we had to constantly appease/dealt with our irate Tenants and solved minor problems that was overblown by Sequence.

We were able to solve minor issues from abroad ourselves whilst Sequence Homes employees were incapable of dealing with it in situ.

Now, 2 months after our tenant moved out, they have as yet to complete our check out/deposit refunds with us and our tenant.

Both our previous tenants and ourselves are still waiting for the solution.

Southampton Bitterne Branch: Worst experience by far...

I am absolutely appalled by how bad it has been trying to deal with this company. I put an offer in on a property via the Bitterne branch, the only contact I had from them was to increase my offer, since the increased offer was sent in and being told someone would contact me regarding next steps, I have not heard a thing. It has now been nearly a week and half. I have called and emailed numerous times, no one has bothered to reply or get back to me, after they said they would. It has left me fuming, I wish there was something more to do then just leave a review, but sadly this is the only option.
Buying a property is already a stressful situation, then having to deal with bad treatment on top is a whole different issue. All I can say is be weary. Heavily disappointed by the non professional handling of this whole situation. Wish I would never have to deal with them again but sadly you can't choose who someone sells their property through. They should do and be better.
