Since then, there have been a few letters to update him with various promises that matters will be finalised.
The most recent letter was in May 2023 and still there is no sign of closure… by November 2025, this will have taken seven years. Is this a record?

Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay and any frustration this situation has caused. We understand this has been a long and complex process.
The deceased in this matter actually died in 1982 and we were only given the case in 2018, so getting this Estate to a position to distribute involved 43 years of tax to be calculated and agreed with HMRC. 43 years of Tax returns plus Capital Gains calculations is by no means an easy task and unfortunately this has meant a longer than usual wait for the family. Also, factoring in establishing the Estates and Tax of every heir who was also alive in 1982, but who had subsequently passed away, this has involved a significant amount of work.
Sadly, as the family is a large and diverse one, for heirs such as your husband who are entitled to a very small fraction of the Estate, dealing with estates of this nature are very frustrating and often uneconomical. We have been in regular contact with the solicitor regarding this Estate and unfortunately the majority of time has been spent simply waiting for HMRC to provide responses. For these reasons, providing regular updates to the family can often not be possible as the situation remains static for so long.
Up to date addresses were provided to the solicitor in early 2024 and we understand that all correspondence for the Estate would be coming from them since that time. I understand you received their correspondence and replied to them in April of last year. Due to the amount of family involved they have been preparing the distribution, chasing unresponsive family, and finalising matters since then.
We sincerely hope that this will all be resolved as soon as possible, for all concerned.

The help i got was absolutely amazing, after months of getting nowhere from a local solicitor who didn't comunicate what was needed. Sally Morgan let me know what was needed to obtain signed medallions for foreign shares and then when I got the paperwork got it all sorted in a very quick time. Very quick to reply to my emails .

From the first contact with Fraser and Fraser we found them to be very professional and the information they provided was clear and easy to understand. They kept us up to date with the situation and also provided an approximate time scale, which helped manage expectations. Although there was a delay towards the end of the process the reason for this was explained and it was clearly something unforeseen and out of the control of Fraser and Fraser. Once the issue was resolved everything was wound up quickly. Overall we found the whole process smooth and we would certainly recommend the services of Fraser and Fraser.

I have recently had dealings with Fraser and Fraser in relation to a family member who sadly passed away intestate. They provided information about my family tree which was fascinating and never at any point did I have to pay for postage, all communication was clearly set out and postage was already paid. They kept everyone updated at regular intervals during the process and all beneficiaries were duels awarded their specific inheritance.
