Everything was so well organised from the minute we stepped onboard the ship. The staff were wonderful and so helpful. The cabin was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the cruise so much that we have booked another cruise for next year. Looking forward to the next time

With limited cruising experience and not sold upon being confined with thousands of people but wanting to experience the Norwegian coast, I explored the possibilities.
Fred Olsen's smaller ships, sailing from Rosyth ( no fly, 20 mins from home, no luggage restrictions) ticked several boxes. The experience from booking, online and telephone, was simple, friendly and without sales pressure.
The Balmoral was perfect. The staff were amazing, the food was excellent and the entertainment was available in variety to suit different tastes and moods. (Especially the Balmoral String Trio and Ashokans Farewell).This is my first holiday ever which has exceeded my expectations!!!
Next trip can only be with Olsen and preferably again from Rosyth on the Balmoral. Every person who worked on the ship made us feel special .... but must mention Jasmine and Wilson for our cabin, Jay, Mark and Brian in the Ballindalloch restaurant Jefferson and Robert around the bars. Cheers guys!

Going on a FO cruise is like putting your slippers on and making yourself comfortable with friends.

Everything was fabulous! Food, crew, accommodation, arrangements and entertainment!

My husband and I had a wonderful cruise on the Balmoral. All the crew were so helpful and friendly and the food was out of this world and beautifully presented.
As we were celebrating our golden wedding it was made so memorable by the lovely gifts presented to us and all the good wishes we received from the crew.
It was our third cruise and the first with Fred Olsen but we would have no hesitation in booking again with your cruise line. Keep up the good work and we will be back. Many thanks to all the crew.

Brilliant company for there organisation skills and there staff are excellent

Our experience was great as everyone we encountered treated us superbly. The food was excellent as was the staff at our table. Our cabin was really nice and Lady made sure that everything was as we wanted. When we reported a fault in the toilet it was quickly attended to. The shows were very professional and really enjoyable. The advice staff were able to answer any questions we had and always treated us as if we were important. The ship was very clean and all stairways bannisters etc were spotless. We were delighted with the choice of food at all meal times. I am a very keen line dancer and was delighted that the young dance team had a few classes which were very well attended. We had a lovely holiday and have already booked to go on the European Cities and Scenic Rivers on the 2nd of September Sailing from Newcastle. Stewart Travel who we book with were able to get all relevant information for us.

From the minute we arrived at Rosyth we were professionally handled by highly competent crew. Our luggage appeared in our cabin and the staff/crew were so very helpful and welcoming. After that we were treated to a first class service both dining and entertainment. Well done

Excellent from the moment I arrived and the bag handlers were so helpful. I had mislaid the key for the lock on my bag so I had to ask for help to unlock this which meant a member of staff breaking the lock which was done at a convenient time for me after the luggage was delivered to my cabin. Meals were excellent though I was not impressed by the included wine so paid for one of my own favourites, and also indulged in a lovely one recommended by the wonderful waiter, Gerry, who was an absolute delight, as was his assistant, Lloyd.

Staff are a credit to the company.

This was Mums first cruise, and I was looking at smaller cruise ships rather than very large floating cities, the smaller of the Fred Olsen seemed to fit the bill.
Being on board The Balmoral, gave us the opportunity to get closer to the mammoth waterfalls we encountered on the way.
The all round exercise deck, gave us the chance to get out everyday day, getting the steps in going for an icecream, or meeting with newly found friends, the ship provided us with all we needed,
Whether it was exceptional service in the dinning room to the finer detail of having your bed turned down and a chocolate on your pillow,
Loved every moment on board, with great excursions also.

First time cruisers booking for my Mum's 80th birthday, party of 6 people. Booking process and all subsequent pre-cruise questions were dealt with very efficiently by super-friendly, well-informed staff.
Service and welcome on board was excellent, all crew in all teams/sections were fantastic - smiling, welcoming, friendly, polite, informative and efficient.
We had interior cabins which were very comfortable, had plenty of storage space, and had everything we needed for our 7 night cruise
The food on board was amazing, our evening meal menu had a great selection to choose from and the self-service buffet restaurant was plentiful.
The entertainment on board was also excellent, lots on offer & the performers were brilliant. They even made sure that football fans were able to watch World Cup matches!
As first time cruisers we had a memorable experience on board the Balmoral, and I heard many experienced/seasoned cruisers saying it was the best cruise they had been on!

Our first cruise with Fred Olsen and it certainly won't be the last. Whilst the ship itself was a bit dated, the staff and crew were excellent - very friendly, helpful, polite throughout and provided great service. The food was especially good and overall the cruise certainly exceeded our expectation.
