Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many visitors frequently complained about dirty facilities, noting that changing rooms, showers, and pools severely lacked proper cleanliness and maintenance. Consumers also mentioned that gym equipment was outdated and broken, while membership prices felt far too high for the poor quality provided. Though some customers faced major issues, a few visitors experienced positive moments, finding the reception and cafe staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful during their daily visits. Some people also noted that individual teachers were genuinely lovely and caring towards children during swimming lessons.

Shocking staff

Shocking staff. First day at gym got told I had free parking £25 fine later I got told the discs they provide for dashboard they need to order. Nikita the manager said the disc have stopped and it’s not their car park 🤷‍♂️. Well done ‘world class staff’ I didn’t even get told where the gym or toilets were. 👎

Very poor company policy

FL have recently taken over Cirencester Leisure Centre. Customers have since endured several pool closures and I have just had to leave my regular gym class because FL company policy has set the aircon to 19 degrees; this is uncomfortably hot and possibly even dangerous for strenuous exercise.

Absolutely disgusting are the only…

Absolutely disgusting are the only words I have for the lack of cleanliness and hygiene at the stour centre in Ashford. The floors, toilets and viewing area in the swimming pool were filthy. Regular cleaning is not happening I was in the centre for two hours at at no point did I see a cleaner. The management of the centre didn’t seem to care, I have been four weeks in a row and the same grime and dirt is still there each week. Something needs to be done!

Freedom leisure a public interest…

Freedom leisure a public interest company/ charity that is causing several local swimming clubs to close as they are banning them from centres that FL did not even build. Glad to see more than 5 of their management board are paid more than £100k so they are ok then. No longer a member.

Boy in womens changing rooms

I went swimming in ystradgynlais and there was a boy in the girls changing rooms. I complained to the life gaurds there were 5 of them i think in the office. Not 1 of them cared how i felt. They believed it was ok for a teenage boy to go in to female changing rooms, they tried telling me it was a girl when i asked are u sure, he replied no then another said they transitioning. I dont feel comfortable changing in a space where theres a boy, i dont mind little boys in there with their mothers , thats different, my anxiety was through the roof.because of this boy being where he shouldnt. I found this very distressing, and disgusting that boys think they have a right to go in female spaces. And you all condoned it. The boy wore boys swim shorts and top to hide his privates and boy chest, if this were a girl why wasnt she wearing a bather like all girls do ? If he wore a girls bather then u c that hes a he. He wore all boys clothes afterwards to, he was with 2 female freinds who didnt dress in front of him, he was in 1 cubicle, the girl in another , theres only 2 cubicles, i dont feel comfortable in changing in front of a boy, so i waited till cubicle was free. Women are vulnerable in changing rooms where teenage boys are allowed in , women have the right to feel safe, how can we feel safe when boys , men are allowed in womens spaces? If you have balls u are a boy therefore u should go in the male changing rooms, toilets. If u female go in female changing rooms not men go in womens spaces and vice versa. I believe girls should only be allowed to wear a girls bather or bikini so theres no discussion about is she a she. If they wear shorts and top u cant see so makes you wonder why. Women / girls need to feel safe, if i see someone in girls changing rooms wearing boys bather and top im naturally going to think theyre a he , which doesnt do my mental health any good at all. Please stop boys going in womens spaces. If they say they are a girl then Please make it a rule all girls only wear girls swim suit no girls to wear shorts and top. If they refuse to wear girls bather then dont let them in girls changing rooms, safety first. U could ask them why wont they wear girls bather , explain to them girls are vulnerable when they getting changed they need to see your a girl and if they wearing shorts and t shirt (which shouldnt be allowed, never used to be allowed ) then they not going to feel safe cause they think your a boy.
My anxiety is so bad now im scared about going swimming there again cause i be thinking what if theres a boy in there again and the life gards think its ok. Its not ok just like its not ok for a woman to go in mens spaces.
Letting males in female spaces just cause they say they a girl is opening the door for perverts and thats whats happening, mostly as far as i know in other countries but once the door is open to 1 boy more will go in. . Theres more girls ,/ women getting beaten , molested, raped in womens spaces than ever before all because males are allowed in female spaces, please please put a stop to this

I’m a member of the centre in Littlehampton, The Wave

I’m a member of the centre in Littlehampton, The Wave. It’s a new building, being around 5 years old and right from the word go, it hasn’t been maintained. If things break, it is months before they’re fixed. There’s ceiling panels missing, gym equipment broken, spin studio broken bikes and no air con, the swimming pool was out of action for months due to bad design.

They are trying to cut costs so don’t put the air con on and when you ask them to do so they still don’t do it. The floors are filthy, the windows always dirty, it’s just not being maintained. Men’s changing has 3 showers out of action. The staff, on the whole are great but the manager is pretty useless, complaints are not listened to and yet they’re happy to take your money.

For such a new building it’s just not being looked after.

Couldn’t understand why they didn’t put solar panels on such a huge south face roof either.

Terrible management

Terrible management, I am a member of the Village health club in Caterham . We are paying a premium, and they keep on raising the fee and the swimming pool and sauna is constantly closed, no one bothers to respond to the complaints as well

Endemic lack of "initiative"

It is a shame that such great facilities, enthusiastic instructors... Are let down by poor people skills, lack of initiative, common sense, geniune willingness to actually offer a good service... Poor management really.
Repairs take "decades" and there is always something "broken". Lack if maintenance?
Nothing feels or indeed looks clean, grey grime...lack of thorough cleaning?
Communication is poor or inexistant...
No lost property... Found items are thrown away... "so reception says"
What a disppointing situation.

Kettering swimming pool

In general, I would say most of the staff are friendly. Only one person is very rude, the lady with glasses and blonde hair. So many complaints from people, but looks like they don't care, and nothing has changed. But the biggest problem with this place is the price list. There is no price list online, no price list inside. Every asked person says different prices and charges differently. I just found out recently that I have been paying for my child's gym as if he were an adult even though I have mentioned every single time that my son is a 17-year-old student. Even now when I finally found out the real prices, instead of trying to sort it out or refund it, the staff, supposedly the manager, gave me a piece of paper with the email address of somebody I can contact if I can get any refund. I am very disappointed in this place.

Squash courts are filthy!

Ashford in Kent, have put their prices up again in the last year. Squash courts are dirty, if they do sweep them up they leave piles of dirt in the corner of the court, some of the lights are not working on the courts, windows are broken, you make a complaint and you hear nothing! Poor experience!

Children’s swimming lessons on a…

Children’s swimming lessons on a Saturday morning
Poorly organised, no consistency, teachers changed every week who do not take the time to consult previous recordings of abilities lessons start late and end early
Young staff look like they’d rather be elsewhere
These people have the monopoly on swim lessons in this area
Their attitude is poor, but unfortunately for children to ‘learn’ to swim there are no other local options

Dirty softplay

I couldn’t believe how dirty the softplay was! It was my first time visiting the softplay as i wanted to rent it out for my daughter birthday. There was hair everywhere. The floor was covered in dirt when they have attempted to mop the floors.

This company is an absolute joke

This company is an absolute joke. Burntwood leisure used to be clean and well managed . These cowboys turned up and never cleaned it , trained team , monitored standards. No managers ever on site. Thankfully after 3 yrs of hell they lost the contract !joke of company who clearly just focus on profit and put customers at the bottom of the list. Try calling their head office ! That's even funnier they simply don't answer the phone. The MD couldn't run a bath let a lot a company of this size. If they come to your town cancel and join snap virgin etc as they will destroy your local facility in about 3 months.

Dreadful

Dreadful - Woking Leisure Centre. Close facilities - up membership fees - no notice - seemingly run by children. Pay 10 pounds extra and get a decent membership. The old 'charity' line has been revealed as what appears to be a money grabbing exercise for the executives.

These people sent me a 'no-reply' email - rude in itself. Now i know why. Informed me fee's going up by 40% without notice while boasting that they are promoting community health. No wonder they wont let you contact them. With barely a review of more than one star these people should be ashamed of themselves.
