Finding my lovely soul mate with Friends 1st..

I joined Friends first looking for a special lady, best friend and life partner. Hopefully leading to marriage after a successful courtship. I was very fortunate quicker than expected to start talking to someone special and committed to finding future husband, called Esther within the first few weeks. We met after talking by text and phone for about 3-4 weeks and exchanged photos of each other. We are now together all the time after we found we really got on very well. together and are engaged. We are planning our life and future together now. We really care for each other and Friends First was the way we found one another and we would never easily have met in separate nearby towns without Friends 1st. The new app at the time had just started and was a good way to start chatting. Then we moved to other social media as things developed more seriously. Thanks so much Friends 1st for the friendship and support.

I received for my investment 4 sets of…

I received for my investment 4 sets of profiles, less than 10 profiles per every 3 months.
The site invites you to see who lives in your area. But does NOT advise you that they ALLOCATE BY AGE and not proximity.
The nearest person was 105 miles away. This doesn’t work too well for easy meetings.
They also send out old and dated profiles of people who are already in relationships. Granted the management may not know this,if not advised by the people concerned.
If you live in a fairly out of the way place like the South West, beware, you get profiles of people from Ireland and Scotland.
If you are looking for a pen friend, fine.
For those nearer higher density populations this may work.
But definitely very poor attitude to concerns about proximity to home, quite flippant and dismissive. When asked why the site still advertises this way there’s no answer. To me it enticed me to spend money on them, as you will NOT get to know if anyone is close to your home until after you have spent your money.
Buyer beware

Dear Cassie ,
Although we don’t recognise who you are (I think you must be using a nickname) it’s clear that you signed up for our Silver service – which is the one offering 4 sets of profiles throughout the year.

We definitely do advise that we match according to age primarily to ensure that you have the maximum number of matches that we can give you, as our experience has shown that people have a long list of criteria for the other person are much less likely to meet someone who is right for them. This seems strange but it’s very very true in dating.

As we don’t know who you are I can’t see what your age criteria was, so maybe you gave us a very narrow criteria to work within, which would have restricted the people we were able to send you. We certainly never send out any member that has told us they are in a relationship – and we strongly encourage people not to use this reason as a means to saying No to someone who they don’t like, but we sadly know people do do this.

Yes we send out profiles of people from Scotland and Ireland. In fact we’ve had quite a few marriages of people from Scotland and Ireland who have married people living as far a field as London and Bristol. It’s not someone location that is important at the end of the day – it’s their character.

If you would care to get in touch with us, we’d be delighted to review your membership experience with you, look at who we sent you and take things forward from there. We look forward to hearing from you. Katharine

FF CHRISTIAN DATING - HORRENDOUS

For approx £50 per month a basic member is sent approx 8 profiles of men. Usually 6 have pics & 2 don't. There is NO matching. The men can have preferences that oppose yours ie one man stated he strongly dislikes dyed hair, tattoos & piercings, I have no such judgements - but he was "matched " with me. My greatest concerns was the men I am sent, they do not receive my profile, rather my profile is sent to 8 men I am unaware of. If you like the sound of a strange man who calls you out the blue (cos none use email it seems)- you need to request his profile from FF, to which there is an extra charge. My experience was one of "special" males calling me at appalling times asking me to be their friend. (ie midnight on a week work night) I was woken & only answered the phone in a sleepy haze cos I thought it might be an emergency in the family. The idiot had the gall to text me after asking if "that was a no?" Men call with speech impediments, slurring & shouting out & repeating "where do you live" "your pretty " be my friend" ... as I say "special people who may be getting fleeced by this company of their disability benefits. In no way shape or form can I recommend this company. Your introduction is a crappy ring binder folder with offers from katherine for 1:1 counselling to get a relationship (10 mins - £30 / 20 mins £60/ 30 mins £90 / 60 mins £180) or a dating masterclass for £180. Have a meeting arranged with a member, bi monthly for £270 , a weekly motivational email for £50. Put your profile in their newsletter for £150. Add more than the 2 pics your allowed on a profile - by paying again. Yes once your in ... theres plenty of ways to make you feel useless at dating & they have solutions - all with a price tag. It won a WISE WOMAN AWARD apparently?? theres no wisdom required in this fools game..... just fools , your money , your "special trusting nature "

For women there are far better dating apps - with regular men that can converse, are free & have protective features for women... but its your choice.
I absolutely cannot recommend FF Christian dating.

Dear Kerry,

Firstly you have been sent a set of profiles each month that are individualised for you, based on the age criteria you have given us. Some members receive more profiles than you - every member is different. With regards to some men not having pictures on their profiles we provide a professional photoshoot to every member – but not everyone has been able to (due to lockdown) take this up, nor does every member want to put photos on their profile. There is little we can do about this.

We do recognise that two members won’t always have received each others’ profiles at the same time – this is because members join on different levels, and receive profiles at different times. However over the course of time, most members will receive each others details – and we encourage members to ring us if they are ever unsure or unknowing about someone who has contacted them, and we also encourage members to forward on their profile if they think another member hasn’t received it (which members can always see).

It sounds like you have has some bad experiences of men behaving in not ideal ways, but from our extensive communications with you, I can’t see that you ever alerted us to any problems – which we would certainly have taken up on your behalf.

We are sorry you didn’t like our welcome pack. I am interested you call it ‘crappy’ when it’s reinforced and made from strong quality materials. We do offer lots of other services and tell you about them in case you want to benefit from them. It’s all your choice. We certainly would never ever tell anyone they are ‘useless’ at dating. Our role here is to encourage everyone at whatever stage they are at, and to help them build their dating skills so they can become successful at meeting people and finding someone who is right for them.

I also see that you still have a significant amount of time left on your membership – and I have absolutely no doubt that your experience over a full year would be very different from what you have experienced in your first couple of months with us. We look forward to showing you that this will be the case and that you can meet some wonderful people through us.

Not good aggressive selling

Not good aggressive selling, the catches are not explained at stage one, £100 for a professional photographer for example.

Dear Neil
Very confused by your comment as all our members are given a free professional photoshoot as part of their membership so I don't know how you have thought there's a fee for this. There are no catches - we are very clear on what we offer - our extensive list of services is laid out very clearly. If we can help you further please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I would highly recommend people NOT to…

I would highly recommend people NOT to get involved with this company. They call themselves Christian but unfortunately they do not behave in a Christian way. They actually use people’s vulnerability in order to force money out of them. Before you even know what your getting involved in you are forced to pay over £700 for a year of what is promised to be a personal dating service. Unfortunately the matches are not professional but very random, if your not wanting to continue with the service your not allowed to cancel. I wasn’t given any of the services offered so didn’t want to continue after one month yet they still refused to let me cancel. I sent them an email giving them 8 weeks to resolve the dispute and their response was to send a debt collector onto me!
I haven’t even received any services! So this is the type of company you are dealing with! I will be taking legal action against them.

Our service is very clearly offered as a one off fee that lasts for one year. It can be paid in one lump sum or over 12 instalments. We ensure that everyone who joins us is explicity clear that it's a 12 month commitment if they choose to pay over 12 instalments and that they have a duty to continue to pay each instalment. We are also very clear how we select our matches that we send our members - and that we primarily use age and location to ensure maximum choices.
In Helen's case she stopped paying us so our services were stopped. in the early months of her membership.
We always try and resolve payment disputes ourselves but where this is not possible we do (like most companies) use a 3rd party agency to chase our debtors. It is interesting to note that Helen says she was forced to pay £700. This is inaccurate. She joined us on our Silver membership (with a £50 discount) and her commitment was only to pay £39.83 per month.
Extremely disappointing to deal with people who say they are genuine Christians and then who act in this way.
