Use the more reputable services

Whilst the service was fast and easy to use, I felt somewhat cheated by the £30 reduction for what was described as “low battery health”. The service stated the battery was 84% at arrival, contrary to the 85% requirement in their terms and conditions.

As a solicitor by trade, you can imagine I was scrupulous of the terms and conditions of the site before sending what was essentially a second generation iPhone SE in excellent condition. I ensured that the phone was at 100% charge at the time of sending and switched the phone off before packaging.

I also tested the phones battery strength on the night prior to sending, to see how long the battery would last from 100% to 85% without being plugged in. It lasted over two hours whilst using various apps. Perhaps pendantic, but the language of the website is not transparent on the exact point that the battery power is tested.

I accepted the reduced offer because it was a similar fee to what the more reputable sites were offering. Albeit, a few pounds less. My advice is to use the more reputable sites and not be tricked by the initial high quotation.

Update
Whilst the company clarified the matter regarding the “the battery health” being too low rather than the battery charge. I draw your attention to the wording of the terms and conditions which state “Battery must be included and be at least 85% capacity, and must show no service/fault messages.” At no point is battery health specified. The language is intentionally vague. You know if a lawyer can’t understand it, it’s a company that intentionally wants to keep it vague.

Hi Rosie

Thanks for your feeback.

The issue wasn’t that the device was charged to 84% on arrival but was the health of the battery, which we require to be 85% or above. Battery health can be found in the battery settings of the device and is also tested with our diagnostics software.

I hope this helps.
