Disappointing Experience with Guest…
Disappointing Experience with Guest Relations
We had a very difficult experience with Michele V. in Guest Relations & Customer Care at Gardaland. Communication was extremely poor – most queries received either copy-and-paste replies or were ignored, which left us feeling unsupported, especially given disability-related needs.
On arrival, we were left waiting for almost an hour outside in direct sun at 35–36 degrees, which was very challenging. Once we finally entered the air-conditioned office, however, the two team members there (Eva and her colleague) were in stark contrast – they were kind, welcoming, and answered all of our questions with care.
It is disappointing that such a difference exists within the same department. I hope management will review how customer care is provided, particularly for visitors with disabilities, so that future guests have a better experience.
Son not allowed on ride due to being disabled
We went with hour son who is registered blind, and last year we had issues going on some rides due to the fact we had accessed with our son via a disabled ticket, or so we thought . This year we paid full price for all tickets we thought this would avoid issues accessing some of the rides and que up as normal. We got on two rides with no issue then when trying to ride go on the Oblivion ride were refused access because our son looked disabled, I argued that we should be able to access the ride as we had paid full price, but apparently that wasn't good enough and the excuse we were given me when we complained was it was in case the ride developed a fault and had to be evacuated, our son needs guidance but is never any trouble and loves the rides, it broke his heart to be stopped from riding. We will never visit this place again and would advise anybody in a similar situation to ourselves to avoid at all costs as they effectively operate a discriminatory policy. We have been as far as Disneyland and various parks around the UK and Europe and have never been treated this way, we were quite simply disgusted.
Digital discrimination - Warning for international visitors
Warning for international visitors – Gardaland website does not send SMS confirmation codes to foreign phone numbers!
I tried to register and buy discounted tickets via Gardaland’s official website. However, during registration, a confirmation code via SMS is required. I entered my Bulgarian number correctly (with international prefix), but never received a code – after multiple attempts.
As a result, I couldn’t complete the registration and had to buy tickets on-site — which were significantly more expensive (almost double the price).
This creates unfair discrimination against international tourists, especially non-Italian phone numbers.
Exploiters
This place sells a product that doesn't exist. We bought the ticket for Legoland, traveled for hours, and couldn’t enjoy it because the product (entrance to Legoland) couldn’t be purchased on its own. They’re selling something that doesn’t actually exist! To get in, besides the €19 per person, we would have had to pay more than €40 per person just to go from the park entrance to the Legoland entrance.
Don’t give your money to an exploitative company that sells a product you can’t use unless you pay even more.
It’s a scam — forcing people to pay for something they didn’t want (the park), and in the end we lost the right to use what we did pay for.
Don’t go to this park! Exploiters!
Det under al kritik at man skal betale…
Det under al kritik at man skal betale fuld pris for et barn over 90 cm, når man skal være minimum 105 cm for at prøve en real forlystelse.
Beware. Good rides but the rest is a rip you off!
This is an expensive day or evening (£350+ for 4), especially if you are taking and paying for a family.
1. Be careful buying on line, they will not amend or refund your tickets if you make a booking mistake. We thought we booked fast track (drops long queues) but found there are different ‘fast track’ options covering different rides. It’s an easy mistake when on holiday booking on a mobile phone. Their info desks on site can’t change it - even in 2024! And the staff won’t/don’t care you made a £150 error.
2. Food. Ripped off! Eat before you enter (if doing the evening) or take your own. It’s about £20 per person for processed meat and a plate full of salty chips. I didn’t need a roller coaster to feel nausea! And the preparation/staff clearly aren’t taught hygienic food handling skills.
3. Photo pass. This is where they grab a few more rip off €€€s. Another shambles, buy as you go. What they don’t clearly tell you is you need another app to download. That is after being told you can’t use your unique 3D barcode straight away, it needs validating in specific shops (more queuing!), and this other (non Gardaland) App. Confused? You will be… and frustrated.
4. Staff. Poor, poor, poor customer service. Trying to correct my booking mistake got “the computer says no” response. In fairness, one young lady showed some empathy at my £152 error, but other 3/4 staff were pointless with no sympathy or help to find any recourse - even a complaint address had to be requested.
5. Parking. Chaotic, free for all. No signposting or order. We drove around for 20 minutes to find a space. Then leaving in the evening was gridlock.
Overall, massively overpriced, huge disappointment, lots of wasted time understanding complicated on-line booking (designed to confuse & spend), working out the Apps, trying to correct an error, queuing, crap food… I could go on. This was a rip-off and the holiday low point.
If you must have a theme park experience, by all means the rides are good, just don’t fall for the extras and avoid the food.
RHODOS HORIZON RESORT an Excellent Hotel.
We arrived at the Rhodos Horizon Resort in Rhodes around midnight after a flight which had had a lengthy delay. The staff were excellent and after checking in took us to the restuarant for something to eat and drink. A really nice welcome to the hotel. We had a Seaview room which was very clean and tidy. Beach towels were made available for free and changed every couple of days. The main restaurant was excellent with food for every taste. We had a couple of very fussy eaters with us and they countn't find fault. As they was five of us we used the same table and our waitress Ioanna was amazingly good. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Personally the main restuarant was better than the Al le Carte restuarant. The hotel had a rule that you couldn't leave your towel on a sunbed and leave it but the staff tell you that when you check in so be aware as they implement the rule. Beach sunbeds were left alone. Other than that an excellent hotel.
Blue Tornado gives you headache
It was amazing but the pillows on Blue Tornado are so hard that when you get off the ride you have a huge headache
Staff harrassing ones family over and…
Staff harrassing ones family over and over again!, they have zero customer service !!! and will do everything to take your money! I have never experience anything like this horrible place. They only care about money and will never prioritize common sense or happy customers !!
Legoland unexpectedly closed
We planned our vacation and travelled to Italy from abroad just to visit Legoland. When we got there in the morning to buy tickets it turned out that Legoland was closed due to the "rain". (It was a sunny morning, 21'C) No information could be found on the webpage that it was closed or why it was closed. Very disappointing experience!
Great themed park, but not very disability friendly!
We visited Gardaland for the first time, for 3 days during May uk half term.
Firstly, the park is very well themed, and very big. There are many good rides, and if you go on quiet days most of the main ride ques are very short. Most when went were pretty much walk on, or 5-10min wait. The longest we waited was about 20min, we managed to get on 8-9 main rides a day. The park is clean and well maintained. The souvenirs are varied and good value for money (slightly cheaper than Merlin uk parks). The opening show is a must see for anyone, at 10am every day at the entrance.
The staff around the park are friendly and helpful where they can be, even if they do not know much English they appreciate your attempts at basic Italian and understand what you want.
Our personal favourite rides are the Raptor and Oblivion black hole rollercoasters which are very smooth and fun, and the very well themed water rides Atlantis and River Rapids. The Flying Island and Monorail had great views of the park, and Lake Garda. We recommend buying the online deal for 2 days digital photo pass so you can get all your on ride photos for a reasonable price. Raptor even has an on ride video that you can buy too! It was a shame that Shaman was closed for maintenance when we came, but we look forwards to the exciting new Wolf Adventure ride coming up soon. It looks a lot like Croc Drop at Chessington, which we already love!
However, I do have a massive complaint and warning about the Blue Tornado ride. The hard plastic restraints on this ride are so hard at ear and head level that EVERYONE coming off the ride complained of ear and head pain from the violent side hitting forces. I could not enjoy the ride itself as I was in so much pain all the way around the track from my ear pain, and when I came off it looked and felt like my ears had literally been boxed in, red raw and swollen. A little boy in front of me was also complaining that he felt like he had head concussion from it. I have NEVER had that much pain on a ride before and I will never go on it again unless the park listens to these complaints and does something about it. Gardaland PLEASE either change the restraints type so they are not at ear/head bashing level, OR add foam padding in this area so people can enjoy the ride. The track and coaster itself is a great one with high G forces, but it needs to be comfortable.
The park itself is not very disability friendly. In terms of layout, there's firstly a long walk to even get to the park entrance from the car park and shuttle bus drop off point. Then the park itself is very big and spaced out, with many hills and uneven ground which would be hard for those in wheelchairs. In the 3 days we were there, I think I only saw a couple of wheelchair users, which to be honest didnt surprise me. Then many of the rides have lots of steps, especially Raptor which is a LOT of stairs just to get up to the que line area. I know that Gardaland DOES offer disability ride access, but I was told and prewarned not to necessarily use this, as they DO NOT even let you get on any of the main rides/coasters if you have ANY medical condition effecting your back, limbs or heart! (This is a lot stricter than other MERLIN theme parks, in the UK so be warned). I for example suffer from chronic pain in my joints and back, and chronic fatigue, so I painfully put up with all the walking distance, stairs and normal ques which were thankfully very short this time.
We really loved the food in the park, which we thought was good value for money. We particularly recommend the Buffalo Ranch for lunch/dinner, they have VERY big portions for your money with tasty meat and lovely wedgie style chips. We used the online meal deal voucher which was definitely good value for money. We also loved at the park the freshly made Crepes, and the lovely Gelato.
Our only complaint was that the Coca-cola unlimited refill drinks were difficult to find refill points, as there was only a few in the park and very spread out with long walks between! There is none in the middle (near Raptor) area or near the entrance. I suggest Gardaland posts more here so people can get more refills and not get heat stroke trying to find them.
I also suggest that there are more toilets, especially as half of the cubicles had those weird holes in the ground not proper sit down toilets. There especially needs to be some toilets the far end of the park in the Jumangi or Kungfu panda areas please as it is a long walk back to the Oblivion area.
All in all we had a great few days, and would love to come back again!
Mixed opinion
Hidden costs, long queues and overpriced food. Apart of that a great park to spend a weekend.
Anna the manager screamed at our children
Most attractions for kids under 8 were closed. They didn’t warn us when we entered kids left disappointed each time we tried yet another ride. We complained to Anna in the main office she screamed at us and our 8 and 3 year old. Horrible experience
Dont go with smaller children
Most of The staff don’t know How to communicate or even smile. When you have children smaller than 1.10 cm, DONT GO!!!! They almost not ride any attractions but you do need to pay €50 for them.
Stay away!!
Even though we paid expensive entrance fees, we only got to try one thing because the queue took about an hour while the rides are only a few minutes. EVERYTHING is just about taking money out of the tourists' pockets.
You can pay a large sum of money extra to get ahead of the queue. This really means you pay 50 euros to enter. And then 50 more if you want to try the rides.
A blemish on Italy.
I would absolutely advise against visiting this hideous place.
You pay the full price for Kids
You pay the full price for Kids, but with a high of 105cm they cannot visit a lot of places. We unfrieden dly stuff.
Overcrowding with unacceptably long…
Overcrowding with unacceptably long queues of up to 2 hrs for the most popular attractions under the sweltering sun. The tickets are already expensive and paying even more to jump the queue is unethical. It is clear that too many people are allowed to enter the park spoiling the experience for everyone as it is impossible to go on all the rides. I cannot think of any circumstances where I would normally wait this long for a service I had paid for so I don't understand why there are no quality control measures or standards in place to protect the customer from this exploitation.
I was in Gardaland after 20 years
I was in Gardaland after 20 years. I felt no more any friendly atmosphere, especially for kids. It’s clear that cash is king, ticket is very expensive and not refundable (my son broke his arm and there was non chance to extend the validity). Gardaland Express is awful: paying to skip the queue is not ethic!! Most of the non-adrenaline attractions are not worth 10 mins of line.
