Wouldn’t even give one star if I had…
Wouldn’t even give one star if I had the option!
My mother in law and husband had a flight from Manchester to Struttgart which was delayed one hour fair enough doesn’t sound too bad. They had a connecting flight self transfer to Jeddah Saudi Arabia and I had tried to check in online for them however I kept getting shown a screen saying “check in closed online go to the counter for boarding” they landed 2 hours before next flight waited a Que for 50 mins then went to the counter where one lady had tried to print boarding passes and one was printed, her manager came over and refused her to help!!! She kept saying the flight is gone flight departure time 18:25pm the time she said this 16:45pm my husband and mother in law left stranded saudi hotels and taxis paid for and now they come back to uk tomorrow without going and booked a airport hotel! Later I checked what time the flight left via live tracker i was shocked to see 18:57pm so the lady at the counter had lied just because she didn’t want to help people earn hard earned money and it does get wasted over scum shit people!! Rather have paid extra and travelled Qatar instead!!! Avoid at all costs will be disputing with my bank to claim back my money!
Appalling customer service
Appalling customer service. Flight was twice delayed, so we missed our connection and were just abandoned to spend the night on an airport seat. Staff were generally rude and unhelpful, although one employee at Cologne Airport did try to book us a hotel. We spent so long standing for hours in queues to get home, that my husband’s leg is still painful more than 2 months later. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Eurowings Cabin Baggage Trap. Forced to Pay at Check-In
I travelled today on Eurowings flight EW 9081 from Munich to Düsseldorf (10.12.2025) and faced a very disappointing experience. At check-in, they announced that Group 3 passengers are not allowed to carry standard cabin baggage, only a small laptop/backpack. The boarding group is only revealed at check-in, a total shock.
I had no choice but to pay €60 extra just to take my normal cabin bag 8 kg onboard. Even though I had already paid for additional baggage, they said it applied only to checked baggage, not cabin luggage. How it makes difference in their load and trim sheet while I already paid for extra baggage but did not drop to checkin. This feels like unfair charging and pressuring passengers at the airport.
Very frustrating, inconvenient, and far from transparent.
It is not It is not worth flying with this airline
It is not worth flying with this airline they overcharge you even when you already pay for your luggage. Avoid this airline.
They did not allow to board to a flight…
They did not allow to board to a flight to UK for 2 hours. They have very unfriendly and inexperienced staff. You send them a complaint but no reply.
An absurd way to treat customers
During the booking process I received a “payment failed” message. Thinking the transaction had not gone through, I purchased the same ticket again — only to later discover that both payments were processed due to a technical error in Eurowings’ system.
Customer service acknowledged the mistake and informed me that the duplicate booking would be fully refunded. Relying on this clear commitment, I agreed to proceed with the refund.
Only afterward did I find out that €20 had been withheld as a so-called “processing fee”, something that had never been disclosed in advance.
When I requested clarification, I was told that “full refund” was intended to mean “refund minus a fee.”
Despite several follow-ups, I received only generic explanations vaguely referring to tariff conditions, without identifying any concrete contractual basis for charging a fee in a situation created by the airline’s own technical failure.
In summary:
Because of a system error, I was forced to buy the same ticket twice.
The airline admitted responsibility and promised a full refund — but then kept €20.
Had this been communicated honestly from the beginning, I would have kept the second ticket — or even given it to someone else — rather than simply seeing money disappear for no reason.
This experience felt unfair, confusing and completely lacking transparency.
Customers should not be financially penalized for technical mistakes they did not cause.
Beware
Beware! This is a scam company. Check-in is horribly slow. A booked check-in bag can weigh 12 kg! TWELVE!! Which means EVERYONE'S bag's overweight and everybody must either a) repack their bags with everybody watching or b) pay 12 euros per kg "overweight". The staff doesn't take cash and they only have one (1) device between them to pay with card. Enormous lines everywhere. Plane was late. Insane. Never ever again.
Shame on Eurowings and their "so-called Customers Service." Miserable senior Management response
Due to miscommunication in the systems between Eurowings and Miles-and-More program, after round-trip flights incorrect number of miles were deducted from my M&M mileage account.
Numerous calls and e-mail to Eurowings service center ended with - "they can not do anything - its up to Miles-and-More to straighten the matter out".
Same response came from Miles-and-More service center - this time that "Eurowings had to straighten the matter out."
Even worse is: Registered mail requesting the matter be looked into - sent on September 9, 2025 - to "Senior Supervisor - Eurowings" at their Duesseldorf headquarter " - this has as of today not been answered.
And- Eurowings even dare to refer to the word "Customer Service" ? What a joke !
Scam airline
Scam airline. Unreliable and not safe. They changed their names from Germanwings to Eurowings after a Pilot did suicide and killed more than 180 passengers over the swiss alps. Now they charge you for everything and hand luggage is only allowed to be 4kg. I paid for a seat reservation 20 euro and then they changed the seat and the plane and if I want to change back my old seat I should pay again 20 EURO. I spoke to Ana Ruiz from Customer service, she told me first I can change it for free, then she hang off the call and when I called again I spoke to Miss Kelali and she told me that I have to pay. Business Customer service phone number +49221 59988204 is telling me I cannot change it, Eurowings customer service +49221 59988 222 told me they will change it and nothing happened. I called at 10.49 they transfered me three times to different hotlines and finally told me that they are not responsible. They try to cheat you and they know that they can do because Eurowings is a kind of monopol in Germany. They corrupt the government to keep their exclusive license for several routes. You have to avoid flying with them.
There was a 2-hour delay on the flight
There was a 2-hour delay on the flight, and then the rental car company charged extra for the late pickup. Eurowings didn’t want to cover the cost, saying they are not responsible for a 2-hour delay. Clearly with this pour ranking they have, they don't care about good service
never again
had to leave the plane again after already having boarded because eurowings was not even able to provide a functioning aircraft, flight was then delayed by 2h so i almost missed my follow up flight. all they offered as compensation was a measly 5€ voucher that was barely enough to buy 0,5l of water at the airport store
AVOID!!!!
AVOID!!!!
Awful customer service and company.
When the gate opened at Bucharest Airport there was no a clear instruction or sign where group 1,2 and 3 must queue. It was a complete chaos and the lady was shouting at everyone who was not in the right order.
I was flying with connection flight from Bucharest and we stopped for layover 55 min in Düsseldorf.
The first flight from Bucharest was delayed by 30 min and like one of their employees admitted on the email they did NOT let me know that I have to check in my luggage for my second flight. When I explained that the delay is not my fault and I can’t go back and check in my luggage as I will miss my connection flight, the lady at the passport control simply said there is nothing she can do and I have to pay 60€……..
I don’t get how a person can fly with same company, same luggage and somehow being charged for the luggage they already brought to the flight.
Absolutely ridiculous and what a scam is this company. I wanted to fill a complaint on their official site and guess what the form is giving an error so you can’t do it over the website. I manage to find a complaint email, it took them 3 weeks to get back to me saying that there is nothing they can do.
Charged €20 Because Their Online…
Charged €20 Because Their Online Check-In Didn’t Work
I tried to check in online for my Eurowings flight from Lisbon to Cologne, but the website clearly showed “Online check-in unavailable for this flight.” I even have a screenshot proving it. When I arrived at the airport counter, the staff told me I had to pay €20 to check in — for something that was completely outside my control.
I politely explained that their own system blocked me from checking in online, but they insisted on the fee and told me I’d have to “contact the airline” afterwards to get it back. Absolutely unacceptable.
If the airline’s own website prevents passengers from checking in, then passengers should not be penalized for it. This feels like an unfair way to extract extra money from customers.
I’m now forced to waste my time chasing a refund for a charge that should never have happened. Eurowings, please fix your system and your customer service policies — travelers deserve better than this.
Such behavior is simply inexcusable and shows a complete disregard for fair treatment and respect toward customers.
TERRIBLE!! Try to sell you paid seats against law
TERRIBLE!!! THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR A SEATS WHICH IS AGAINST LAW! CUSTOMER MUST LOSE ITS OWN TIME OF LIFE TO CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO UNLOCK THE PAID SEAT SELECTIO WHICH YOU CAN'T SHIP. REASON?! THE FREE SEATS OPTION RUN OUT. I DON’T CARE, I HAVE THE RIGHT BY LAW TO CHOSE SEAT FOR FREE.
Overcharge scam
On August 5th I was on my return trip from Gothenburg, Sweden to Larnaca, Cyprus via Düsseldorf, Germany.
I had paid for a checked baggage allowance of 23 kilograms. However, at Gothenburg Airport, I was informed by the ground staff that I could carry my bag in the cabin since it was small. Upon arriving at Düsseldorf, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an additional €60 for the luggage, despite having already paid for it. I explained the situation, but the staff insisted on the extra fee, so I paid it to avoid any further issues.
After submitting a complaint, I received communication from the airline acknowledging that the additional charge was incorrect and that I would be refunded. However, after providing my IBAN details at their request, I was then informed that no refund would be issued due to company policy. This back-and-forth and inconsistency in communication was nowhere near professionalism on behalf of the airline. You can't just treat passengers like numbers.Firstly you inform them that you were wrong and you asked them to provide their IBAN number for the refund and then you send another email saying that there will be no refund!
Two months of silence
It has been two months since my compensation claim, and despite reminders and calls where no one knows anything (those who handle compensation only respond via email, they say), nothing has happened yet. What I keep hearing is to wait and wait, but no one can give a reasonable time estimate for how long. I’ve traveled with them often until now, but if this is how they operate, the future will look different.
Total rip-off
Total rip-off! I had booked “Checked Baggage” in advance and even asked both via chat and at the counter if my garment bag would count as hand luggage – both times I was told: “No problem.” At the gate, however, they charged me an outrageous €60 extra fee for the garment bag! Had I known this, I would have simply packed it into my suitcase.
This behavior is misleading, unprofessional, and borders on deception. Absolutely ridiculous for an airline that claims to be suitable for business travel. Never again Eurowings for business flights – expect hidden fees and arbitrary rules.
Poor compensation of missed flight
2 months ago I wrote a comment about me missing my connection flight due to a delayed flight. I requested compensation for the extra flight, meal and hotel expenses of nearly 1000 Euros. Eventually I have received just over 800 Euros so I am well out of pocket!!!
Absolutely no problems flying with Eurowings
Partner booked return flights from Manchester to Dusseldorf. I’d never heard of Eurowings, so decided to check reviews. My heart sunk as almost all on here are negative. Anxiety/panic set in.
Arrived at airport, check-in smooth. Cabin crew all polite and friendly. Flights to & from went without a hitch (apart from a group of passengers who arrived extremely late on return flight- not airlines fault).
Flight seats ok for short-haul and price we paid. Abided by strict luggage policy for cabin - no problems. Hold luggage checked-in both ends and turned up fine at the other end.
So, for anyone terrified of travelling with this airline due to so many terrible reviews…give them a chance and make your own mind up.
We’d definitely use again happily 😀
For those questioning if my review is genuine given I’ve never posted a review on Tristpilot before, please note I normally leave reviews on Tripadvisor and will be reposting this on there too.
The reason I’ve done it on here, is I actually question how genuine all these other reviews are on here given many others are new reviewers 🤔
So many negatives on here puts folk off flying with what I deem as a good airline.
