Not what it once was

Not what it once was. Used to be a peer to peer, someone else's car dealio. Now, in San Francisco, it seems to be mostly just a few car-slumlords treating this as an illegal car rental franchise. The "4.5 star" car I drove I'm not sure should not even be considered street legal (it rattled like crazy, which was noted in other reviews). It definitely wasn't sanitary. Support's response was, basically, tough luck. Still giving two stars because it was cheap and I should've known that you get what you pay for.

Being in town only for a couple of days to see family was made a breeze because of how easy and simple it was to use get around. I was able to book and hit the road within an hour, 10/10 in my book!!

I was over charged by $78 and as of…

I was over charged by $78 and as of today, 24 hours later, the money is still not in my account. They said it was because of my bank, but my bank has seen no reversal of the charge. There is no reason I should have been charged this amount and my account remains negative because if it.

I have been experiencing several issues…

I have been experiencing several issues with the vehicles on the Getaround application. I have come to notice every week the past few months that o have rented the vehicles have either a mechanical issue or a cleanliness issue. I hope Getaround helps with the issues, as these issues prevent me as a 5.0 driver to give the service our riders deserve.

Bit pricy

Great, but expensive. +$600 for a weekend without unlimited miles is a steep price to pay.

It was ok

The car I rented was pretty dirty and had some dried spills from previous users, some garbage inside and pretty damaged on the outside. I also didn’t like the $2000 holding deposit. Would prefer an option with gas included as well. Will probably go with turo next time I need to rent a car.

There is $2000 holding in my cc

There is $2000 holding in my cc. It wasn’t clear at the time of booking. I called agent said its up to 1 week now I see in the app they are blocking it for 2 weeks. Just for a $30 rental for 1 hr.

The call center agents were generally very responsive & everything else was good including the booking, price , getting the info, app instructions. But the amount & period of deposit doesn’t make sense at all.

You guys are charging me an hour late…

You guys are charging me an hour late fee when I was there on time and had trouble within the apo to end the rental is absolutely ridiculous

Don't Rip Me Off.

I'm trying to understand why am I paying so much money for last rental after the rental was returned late eventhough I spoke to someone at getaround on my way to drop off the car and let them now that I was in traffic and it was a real bad accident!!

Horrible

Buying the premium or plus insurance…

Buying the premium or plus insurance doesn't lower your security deposit as stated in Getaround's "Guide for Premium & Plus Insurance". My security deposit ended up being 1500$ with the Plus insurance. They also hold the security deposit for 7 days which is weird to me because the owner can rent the vehicle to other people a few days after you returned the car. I didn't damage the rental and the owner did not report any damages either but Getaround still has my security deposit. It has been a week since I rented from this app. Seems shady, besides there are better apps that are more reasonable and budget friendly. If you are in need of a car, I would rather use Turo or Zipcar instead because it would of been easier on my wallet. Putting $1500 aside for 1 week is not ideal.

Extension Fee and Late return are a rip off

Thé extension Fee and the late Fee are a rip off. This was my first experience with Getaround, and I did not read the contract details. I booked a rental of 10 hours, but should have declared from the start a rental of 12 or even 24 hours which would have been the same flat rate = 1 day. Returning the car after 10h30mn instead of 10h00 cost me around 60$ for late return!! A rip off!!!

Love the discount codes that GetAround…

Love the discount codes that GetAround provides! That definitely stands out. The only thing I’m not a HUGE fan of is the new app. I find it hard to navigate.

Worst car rental experience I've ever…

Worst car rental experience I've ever been through. The was an error with the app that ended my four day rental 24 hours after I picked it up. Then I was harassed by the owner to return the car immediately or he'd call the police on me. I will never use this service, I would highly encourage using any service but this one.
